Here is the offical usage of the wooden spoon,spanking, and smacks to various parts of the body. This stems from the verse that says, "He who spareth the rod, hateth his son.", whatever, there are others, but that is the main one. The rod was used to get the child's attention, to snap them back into the reality of the situation. The times when the spoon was used on me in an abusive way, was mostly by overzealous single corps. No non corps dared smack this behind. But, yes there has been breakage of the woodenspoon in some smacking sessions. That is just too excessive. So like all things, some people took it too far. Sometimes my own parents would go past the "attention getting" and just smack the shiznit out of me with the spoon. I dont know that many kids who didnt get a beating though, so what else is new, comes with the territory... child sexual abuse in the family corps?? do we have enough room here? i never was, but i heard alot of testaments as i got older coming up in the Way. Mostly girls, of course. Anything you can think of, and dare not to, its disgusting. I dont think its the Way's fault per se, but they should have done a better job screening people. Too many people were "healed" overnight from past demons and put into positions were they would have access to abuse some kids in the worst way possible. Where is the revelation to get rid of these people, the word of knowledge, word of wisdon, and discerning of spirits? These people couldnt help little kids when it really mattered, they cant even help themselves today.

hey wassup RADAR, (wink) thanks, just keeping it real, and i know you are, too!! see ya around the campfire... def, nice story. once again, sometimes church is the answer. myself, i broke up with the chicks who tried to mold me into the goody two shoes christian, which i am not. LOTS of woman like to, er, help us bad boys out. most were what you would call....pretty. now im with one who loves me for who i am, and we are very open about religion and faith. maybe we will go to church on a sunday, or maybe we will dance around a maypole on saturday.

oh man, a "cop-out" is bad news. They are the "lowest of the low". They have been taught the truth, and "willingly turned their backs to God and the household of God." Most cop-outs operate big time devil spirits, mostly coming out of the spritely and devious group, stately and powerful, and some animalistic and vicious thrown in. Their salt has lost its savor, and are worth nothing more than to be trodden under.

One of the things The Way did well, was to try and get us to actually read the Bible. Nevermind the rights and wrongs of Way docrine, ok. But, they did get us to read every book of the Bible, and that is something. The church youth meetings that i attended during my post way stints with organized christian religion was more of a social scene. I mean, very little bible, lots of singing, young people trying to teach with little of knowledge of the Bible, more singing, skits, then everyone partying like rockstars afterward. It was really FUN, yes, but very Bible lite. No delving into, "well, it says in the Greek text, blah blah blah". No breaking out the concordance, greek lexicon, and bible atlas to break down a verse. So, when one comes from serious, intense bible research, teaching, and fellowship ministry, church seems like a walk in the park, especially the sing-song Young Life versions of grown up churches. Ive been to grown up churches too. Slept through most of it. Recall how bored you were when rosealie would teach in that monotone, Southern drawl, and each sentence would seem like an eternity. Well, multiply that by 10, and thats how bored i was at grown up church. Nevermind the denomination, they all pretty much sucked. If you want to be a sheep,and get all the answers to life spoon fed to you by some poor shmuck on a pulpit, than church is for you. If you believe that Heaven is a real place, and is just waiting for us special christians who endure all the other non-christians and their deplorable,evil, threatening, and WRONG way of life....church is for you. I(not you) cannot believe in that elitist bs that every church in this country offers as "answers" to lifes problems. If they were right, why isnt this country more united, prospering, and peaceful than ever?? I (not you) cannot sit in a pew, like some drone, hear the same ol bs about heaven and hell, be in the same company as people who think that Bush is God's MOGFODAT, refer to gays and lesbians, as those "****in faggots", call environmentalists "queernazis", and think the whole world is here for the benefit of white Christians. Call me crazy, but church is more like The Way-lite. More of the same mind control, less intense "biblical research". More singing and better stage productions, less control over people. But churches WILL tell you who to vote for, while The Way claims to be neutral on that point. When i stopped putting God in the Christian box, and realized that God is bigger than any one religion, denomination, cult, that was a breakthrough. It would be nice to sit with people and read the Bible, without being apart of a group hell bent on world conquest and being apart of every aspect of your life, even telling you when to breathe. It would be nice to sit with people and read the Tao-Teh-Ching, Bhagavad Gita,and dare i say, the Koran!! oh wait, it CAn happen, with people that are called FRIENDS. these are humans who you feel an affinity to, and they feel an affinity to you, too. They do not care about your race, gender, religion, sexual preference, whatever, but share many common interests. You do not have to be apart of a religious cult or organization to obtain these "friends". Most people do not have many real friends, because there are strings attached. Like when you stop attending the prescribed church that your psuedo-friend is attending, see how long it will take before you never see that friend again. Something to think about... A real friend will be there until the end, through thick and thin, through political debates, religious debates, EVERYTHING. Forging real friendships with our fellow humans, and fellow inhabitants that we share this planet with is the answer to the wedges that seperates us all. I am ALL ABOUT getting rid of the wedges, purposefully put there, to keep us seperated and fighting amongst ourselves. The religion wedge, the race wedge, the gender wedge, the money wedge, etc. etc. You preach that, ill come to your church. -->

yes, being a child in the way had tremendous pressure. I was thinking about Heaven and Hell at age 7, while most kids were outside playing without a care in the world. Imagine having to learn how to SIT while you are in elementary school!! WTF!! But as a kid, you think all that is normal, you do not know anything else. Like getting swatted by perfect strangers with wooden spoons is normal!! Moving a zillion times due to assignment changes in the Corps is NOT healthy for a child's development and social status!! Having to make brand new friends every 3 to 5 years is a pain in the foot!! But i tell you what, it builds character. Ive had a very unorthodox upbringing, something i would liken to a travelling band of gypsies who speak in tounges. Forget about bringing friends over when your house is set up for PFAL 24-7 and the only music you are allowed to listen to is branded and joyful noise. Athletes of the Spirit was a great thing to watch as a kid, because lets face it, all children of Corps are "spiritually mature enough" to handle it. I especially liked the pink devil spirits acting out sex on the stage, that was GREAT!! More things to think about, like how devil spirits rule the world, and the devil is only a cartoon blob. I look back on the whole way experience, and it is bittersweet. Many, many great people with the best of intentions. As i became older, i think i outgrew the way doctrines. too many questions, and not enough answers. too much hypocrisy, not enough signs, miracles and wonders. too much spoon fed right wing politics, not enough activism to better the world. It seems like all these good intentions folks had, really paved the road to hell, because that's where the Way seems to be headed these days.

BluzieQ: thanks for posting! always good hearing those who were "raised in the Word" getting out of the mind-bending grip of "the Way". It sounds like college opened your eyes, and emancipated you from the physical, mental, and spiritual slavery of the way. one of the best things LCM did was exhort all of us young folks to go to college!! BWHAHA!! little did he know in all of his glorious revelation that university would get rid of most of the future generations of way robots. i too, was raised in the way bubble from a small child to adult....breaking the news of "not standing" put my visiting status of all way family members on hiatus. They were waiting for me to be a greasespot by midnight, but it never happened. instead, i flourished. i finished university, worked interesting jobs in other countries, followed my heart, and am loving life. i found out who my true friends were. they were NOT those who turned their backs after many, many years of friendship just for questioning way beliefs and practices. now, my innie family cannot get enough of me. the subject of the way does not come up, but we still have interesting conversations. i think they are still holding out hope, but i respect them, and they respect me. they know i am happy, and am doing the best ive ever been. the best way is to lead by example, because they cannot refute or be disappointed by the life i now lead. they must accept that there is life outside of the way, and it is still abundant, more than abundant. they are not the only one with the answers, just another christian group begging for money and to sap your life dry. keep posting, posting, posting!!

Why would gspotters like myself want to continue to challange, or better yet, ASK QUESTIONS AND DEBATE, in the promised land of the prevailing word cyberspace area? I give TWI, NO quarter whatsoever. Their whole organization stands on the blood, sweat, and tears of the tens of thousands of people who wanted to know and serve God the best way they knew how. Everything that they (TWI) have is from the work and money every believer, wow vet, corps grad, EVERYONE put into that ministry for YEARS. And it was HARD!! People sacrificed ALL to "move the word over the world". Most of those people LEFT twi, and have every right to warn prospective followers, current followers, whoever, about this incideous, dead ministry. Whether its on the street,COURT, on the radio, TV, Internet, the truth is THERE. in scripture and in practice. LCM's era of gestapo leadership ran off more people than they EVER brought to the Word. They totally destroyed everything everyone ever worked for, and what they DO have, is the remnants of the past. They have no new growth, no life, no fruit. So when John B. or others, gets all nostalgic about the ROA family tables, maybe a time when God had a hand in TWI, or at least grew due to the charisma of excited hippie christians, and try to transpose that onto a controlled, elitist, "focused forum" (whatever that .... THAT means), im callin BULL....!! its the same censored, micro-managed, controlling BS, that makes me even happier i am out of there!! NOTHING has changed, and HERE is an example!! They TRIED to have an open forum, but like i said before, there is just too much evidence, too many questions, that they cannot defend themselves or let innies hear the truth. They dont have a leg to stand on, so they have to hide in their little "focused forum" like the cowards they are.
