DaddyHoundog replied to skyrider's topic in About The Way
wanna hear somthing funny--- we went from being active corps in the late 80's to being dropped by Paul M. and then made Corp Alum by Dean Sailor...and yet I had a baby during that new Advanced class so couldn't be a new ADV class grad.....talk about a stupid ranking system!!! Lianne -
we use the DISH one --- have 2 now actually. 1 with 60 hours and 1 with 100 hours and I love the fact I can pause the cartoons and make the kids get up "now" instead of "please wait till the commercial...." Lianne

MACS are awesome...I gre up with a programmer Dad from the 60's had a PC since they were invented...now we have a Mac os10 Panther...will never go back! And Itunes are great...download from Limewire, copy to Itunes, erase the Lime wire and you can burn your own CD's---we do alot ...and make movies and all kinds of stuff...typing on it as we "speak" Unlike Abby, most PC people have never owned both to know enough to really know the hick-ups....I will never go back...and I think knowing they havent written a virus that can get a Mac yet is comforting..even though we have all the protection...never needed it. My son has a PC laptop his school has given him and we have a router so he surfs a lot at home, however he has picked up as many as 3 viruses a week...even though he has good software that catches them, he always has to turn everything off...cant save where he is at and has to start over....GIVE me a MAC. White Dove, Maybe you could have private-topic'ed my husband Daddyhoundog who actually put it on Ebay. He has reconfirmed to me his aversion to greasespot becasue of many posters methods of embarrassing others on the spot publicly regaring the "errors" in their life. Be it spelling or putting something on Ebay. We dont subscribe to way methods of humilitation any more and furthermore we don't worry about perfection. Being correct is good and not to be avoided, but you still could have emailed us or PTed us both and we would have seen to it the add was edited for correctness. Yet again why more and more posters quit coming.... Washingtonweather: aka LIANNE PIERCE -
Thank You Dorothy, Thank You Rhoda The collector's collection of Piano and Organ music performed by Dorothy Owens and Rhoda Wierwille, relatives of the founding members of the "The Way International," no longer published is available to you. There are 50 songs on 2 CDs once publicized as accompanying music for local Way household fellowships (twigs). They are in very good condition and play great. Thank You Dorothy, Thank You Rhoda / on Ebay

Steps you can take to decrease the risk that you will become a date rape drug victim. The introduction of date rape drugs into mainstream culture has put a very powerful weapon in the hands of sexual predators. Rapes can be easily committed behind a foggy haze of intoxication often leaving the victim oblivious to the fact they have been assaulted. It is a frightening thought that begs the question: "What, if anything, can be done to stop a person from falling victim to a rape using a date rape drug?" There are some simple behavior modifications you can make to ensure that you do not fall prey to a rapist armed with a date rape drug. To protect yourself always follow these simple rules: If these behavior modifications don't feel like enough protection, or if you don't think you can follow these rules on a given night, you do have another option. There is a brand new defense against date rape drugs that has recently been approved for use in North America; it is a simple and inexpensive test kit that can be used to detect the presence of date rape drugs in drinks. The so called "Drink Safe Technology" is actually a package of drink testing strips or coasters that work like those litmus paper strips you use in Chemistry class. The strips and coasters change color when they come in contact with a date rape drug. The strips fit in your purse or pocket and can be used quickly and discretely. To find out more about "Drink Safe" visit the website at http://www.drinksafetech.com. Learn more about the three most common date rape drugs including how they effect you and what they look like. Rohypnol GHB KetamineDon't accept open drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) from others who you do not know or do not trust; this includes drinks that come in a glass. Drink Safe TechnologyDrink Safe Technology Don't accept open drinks (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) from others who you do not know or do not trust; this includes drinks that come in a glass. When in bars or clubs always get your drink directly from the bartender and do not take your eyes off the bartender or your order; don't use the waitress or let somebody go to the bar for you. At parties, only accept drinks in close containers: bottles, cans or tetra packs. Never leave your drink unattended or turn your back on your table. Do not drink from open beverage sources like punch bowls, pitchers or tubs. Keep your eyes and ears open; if there is talk of date rape drugs or if friends seem "too intoxicated" for what they have taken, leave the party or club immediately and don't go back!

Okay the skinny I found-- (sorry for posting without checking) HOWEVER----IF YOU HAVE A LITTLE OR BIG GIRL I dont have to tell you the mother lion protection instincts that are the umbrella to all aspects of that little girls life. Dear Readers, Your letters are just a sample of the many "Progesterex" postings this week on the Net. Not included are other notes, referencing information passed on by the "hair stylist of a friend's sister-in-law," claiming they heard examples of where the "drug droppings" had occurred. Much research was done on the matter; no evidence of the existence of such a drug was substantiated by veterinarians, pharmacists, and researchers at the following agencies and institutions: U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Center for Veterinary Medicine American Veterinary Medical Association Cornell University, Equine and Farm Animal Hospital University of Saskatchewan, Western College of Veterinary Medicine University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School, New Bolton Center Further, these experts state that the one equine medication taken orally that tangentially relates to the stated purpose of "Progesterex" is used to temporarily prevent mares from coming into heat (estrus). No such incidents on Columbia's campus have been reported. Alice also checked with other universities and drug education organizations and found that none of them were familiar with the supposed drug and its alleged use. As some of you pointed out in your questions, there are drugs, including Rohypnol and GHB, which have been used to sexually assault and/or burglarize victims. Information about these drugs, along with how to prevent such crimes, is available in the following Q&As: Rohypnol "Roofie" and Rape GHB/"Liquid Ecstasy" GHB/"Liquid Ecstasy" -- Date Rape Drug of Choice? [Reader's Response] Go Ask Alice! and Columbia were not the only places on the "Progesterex" case this week. Many other educators and health care providers around the country received similar messages, were concerned about what they read, and took action to find out whether or not what they were reading and hearing was legitimate. This isn't the first time that seemingly-implausible situations have popped onto the scene, and it no doubt won't be the last; who's rectum will a gerbil find its way into tomorrow? Whose image, sense of security, and peace of mind will be sacrificed next year just for laughs? Yes, the volume of information and the speed at which it can travel 'round the world sometimes makes it more difficult to separate the truth from the crap. Some sound research from reputable resources is a good tool to have along to reach reality. This current situation certainly seems like a hoax; its creator(s) might be reading this, laughing, and basking in his/her/their fifteen minutes of Internet fame. If so, there are some other things you might try when you next find yourself with some time on your hands: teach disadvantaged kids to read; volunteer at a soup kitchen; raise money for earthquake victims; or, just take a nap. here is a new drug that has been out for less than a year, Progesterex, that is a essentially a small sterilization pill. The drug is now being used by rapists at parties to rape AND sterilize their victims. My best friend's mom works at a pharmacy and she said the drug is available exclusively to veterinarians to sterilize large animals. But I have heard from several of my friends that are still in grad school up north that at frat parties at their schools (Columbia and Penn State) the drug is being used with Rohypnol (roofies), the date rape drug. With Rohypnol, all they have to do is drop it into their drink. The girl can't remember a thing the next morning of what happened the night before. Well now Rohypnol is not being used alone. Progesterex, which dissolves in drinks (alcohol or soda) just as easily, is being used with it so that the woman doesn't conceive from the rape and the rapist doesn't have to worry about having a paternity test identifying him months later. But the drug's affects AREN'T TEMPORARY. Progesterex was designed to sterilizes horses. Any woman that takes it WILL NOT HAVE CHILDREN EVER IN HER LIFE. All guys have to do to get this drug is just know someone, like a friend, who is in the Vet school of any university. It's that easy, and Progesterex is about to break out big on campuses everywhere. Believe it or not, there is even a site on the Internet for the drug telling people how to use it. For more information about "Roofies" go to http://www.goaskalice.columbia.edu/0884.html Please! Forward this to everyone you know, especially girls who might be headed to college or live in college towns.

But we started the day decorating the front and back of the gingerbread house and are letting that harden before all walls are glued together.

Abby-see if this link will help-- Michigan Alliance for Gifted Education Check the info for parents...and I had another link too...but gotta look it up again. This is a general one: http://www.fapeonline.org/Organizations.ht...C.ORGANIZATIONS

You also mentioned the teacher was going to do testing...did I read right? Well, I would insist on an Evaluation Specialist to administer a wider battery. Reason being that he may need to be in an "enriched" class, a pull-out or some such thing. The law guarentees this if his tests proove the need. IEP's go both ways....IDEA still provides this right for a child that is needing advanced work too. just a thought.

Abbi, Retention and promotion are generally discouraged by the ATF. The studies on retention wouldn't apply here, but Promotion encouraged by the same teacher that is not noticing what dynamics are at play here, sounds, in a nut shell, like she's passing the kid on because she just doesnt want to "go there" academically with him to challange him...or to see what other playground issues may be brought into her classroom. A few questions hit me. Was the work load so much that all the children had to work hard for the same party, or was his a different load? If the teacher knew there was a party for all the children was she leveraging participation only for some by completeion or was that for all the kids? either way sounds crappy-- I faced this situation with both my older kid...teacher favoring little innocent girl over my son. (except it was a differnt teacher than his own) All over him "pushing to get through a door way" at the end of recess. He was penalized for "pushing" a girl in her class cause she whined to the teacher and my son whose class was at the other end of the building was just trying to get in on time... I told him to avoid all the students (girl ones anyhow) in that class. In your case, well, I suspect your Jacob's teachers's loyalty to your son is less than she may profess. In our school the prinicipal will pull all parties involved and witness in one at a time...he takes it pretty seriously having put 2 of his own kids through that elementary school, his name is Jack Vermillion all that I can fin of a Reder's Difest 2003-Jan article) In a January 2003 article Reader's Digest called "The School That Stopped Bullies", Jack Vermillion, a principal at a school that had implemented a program to ... www.tps.k12.mi.us/staff/ lcompeau/School%20Improvement.htm - 23k - Supplemental Okay- I stray sorry, but above were my thoughts...

Muslim school in MN helps children feel more at home
DaddyHoundog replied to markomalley's topic in Open
Yeah--Hmm Abbi I dont know--I think this should be challenged. It is defintely bringing in a religion to the public domain Im not against non-militant muslims, but this is public funds and sets a precedent... what if we wanted a charter school around hating whites, or hating blacks or only Southern Baptists (one of the scariest IMNSHO) but having family in Minnesota and being kept abrest of the state's affairs...this does not surprise me. Ps too: My son also attends a computer based Charter School called Southwest Secondary Learning Center...most of the seniors are co-enrolled in the local community college too. -
Abby! I thought it was hilarious....and I deal daily with the disorderd and disabled....so what...the point is....either to use birth control or to obstain if you cant handle being a parent to what ever genetic surprise is in store for you. I loved it Lianne

okay-- Ill probably take heat for this---I dont care. Sex is cultural. That said...understanding that it then becomes individual is even more complicated. There are Native American Tribes that STILL obstain up to 5 years after the birth of a child...try that on Joe modern....never---they are convinced ....by our western commercialized use sex to sell everything culture that they cannot go 5 weeks....it is still very much in the head...the big head. When I had cancer, I did not even think about it...im sure hubby did, but he is not selfish, and it was not something we even needed to talk about not having--sex that is. Under normal circumstances, he is always more interested than I am. And for the record, I dont think medaling with hormones is a real good idea...I dont feel like I am supposed to change who I am by taking pills. I think sex is great, but I think our culture has ruined a lot about it---Like Abby said--its an extension of so much more. The cultures I know of that see sex as a much less important aspect of their relationships do elevate other concepts. Lianne Pierce - Washingtonweather I also think any guy with a shadow of ideas about sex from the way TWI promoted life.....has shallow understanding and needs more healing time.

I was not trying to sound like I know better. I still think its a huge profit margin on serious problems in many cases....I dont consider his weight loss challenge particularly serious, but a lot of the other issues seem pretty much like watching mental open heart surgery...I ache for those people and then knowing he makes a buck...a big buck off those problems saddens me. Lianne

I can see that...but I guess I would not have needed HIS ideas to get my point across.
