Email Addresses and Your Real Name???
Mister P-Mosh replied to Nottawayfer's topic in Computer Questions
Although not a dating site, Orbitz was hacked recently by spammers somehow. I don't know the details but it's a fairly common occurance. I have one credit card that I use for online stuff, as well as one specific email address I use for the internet. I'd be much more concerned if you gave that dating site a credit card number. -
Garth, if pigs did fly, I don't think they would do it backwards.

Yeah but they're not going to make IE anymore. It's effectively dead software from what I've heard. They are going to release one more version with Longhorn (the new version of Windows) but after that I don't think they'll be in the browser business anymore.
-
IE is a horrible browser, I'd suggest going with Mozilla Firebird. It allows you to block popups, it is harder to hijack, it has tabbed browsing, and it works really well. I use it pretty much all the time anymore.

Does anyone else here change the useragents on their browser? Sometimes I put an amusing message in mine and visit sites (such as putting in, "$friend sucks!" where the $friend is obviously the name of a friend, then use a program to refresh over and over so when they look at the logs of their webserver they see my message to them. I think that if pawtucket looks at his useragent strings he might find some strange ones that I've put in. Do any of you others do this sort of thing?

i don't know for sure that it's humor, but judging by what they have on there, I can only assume it is. I like humor sites like those. I read The Onion regularly, and there was another fake religious site that I lost track of that was pretty amusing. Of course, there are real lunatic sites that look like a joke that aren't. Fred Phelps' site is one example.

Wierwille books on eBay - going for HIGH $$$
Mister P-Mosh replied to Jeff USAF RET's topic in About The Way
Although I was mostly in TWi in the Martindale years, I'd like to get rid of all my crap. I was going to sell it on Ebay, but I'd like to offer it up here first if anyone wants to buy anything from me. I don't have a list of everything yet, but I've got most of the PFAL books, syllabus, as well as many of the other books, pamphlets, etc. I have the WAP syllibus (syllibii?) also, so if any of you are curious about how crazy LCM's advanced class is, I can sell you all of that too. I have various tapes, but I haven't looked to see what they are yet. They're probably mostly LCM, but I also got a bunch of old tapes that came in a tape holder I got from a yard sale of a TWI follower. If there's anything anyone here wants, make me an offer on a private message, and I'll see what I can do. If not, I'll probably try putting it up on Ebay. I can accept checks but also credit cards and paypal accounts but I'll have to see if I have the books and tapes people want first. -
Heh, my wife gets mad when I yell, "STFU!" to people who answer their phones in the middle of movies.
-
I saw it tonight, and I liked it. My wife hated it, but she's not big into Tarantino films or what he tried to do with this anyway. Basically, it reminded me of a mix between a western, Snatch, anime, and an old kung-fu movie. I have to say it was the best and worst movie I've seen in a long time. It's probably 75% killing and maiming, so if you don't like blood, don't watch this.

What software can I use to back up an entire website?
Mister P-Mosh replied to igotout's topic in Computer Questions
Shouldn't that software have an option on which domain names to pull from? Although it's not exactly the same type of software, I use AvantGo with my Clie, and it allows you to only pull from the main domain name if you like. -
The Rundown is a great action movie, just go see it. Anyway, it also features a cameo appearance of Arnold Swarzeneggar sort of "passing the mantle" onto The Rock as an action star.

I think I remember that now...it was where he talked about how he couldn't afford to buy a black guitar case so he painted the one he had, and how he had to shoot with the same camera multiple times from different angles to make it look more professional like he had several cameras.

I got a DVD that has El Mariachi on one side, along with some other stuff by R.R., and Desperado on the other side. One of the extras was the film school thing, and another was some short film he made about the weird stuff I mentioned above. I think the girl was riding her bike or something, her bratty brother made her fall off and hit her head. She went to the hospital, and woke up with some sort of super powers that she used against her brother.
-
Is that the one where it has the girl that falls on her head and gets the super power to tease her brother, or something like that?
-
Yeah, I didn't like it either...it just sucked and I only watched a little over half of the first episode. Fortunately, "Taken" will be back on the scifi channel on Sundays starting this coming Sunday. What did he do? I liked TNG which was on when I was a kid, and the original series seemed interesting (but horrible special effects), but anything after that was crap. Is he the guy that did DS9 onward?

So what was the Christian Family and Sex class about?
Mister P-Mosh replied to RottieGrrrl's topic in About The Way
I remember a "men's night" type outing where an ordained TWI minster whose last name rhymes with Boynihan made a few somewhat off statements about how sometimes you have to allow your wife to get pleased every once in a while and stuff like that. He was discussing the relationship between a husband and wife, but that and other things he said still seemed a bit rude towards women. While I can understand some mysogeny being inherent in Christian groups, I certainly wouldn't want someone talking about my mom or sisters like that. -

I can verify what Zixar said. I didn't get a syllabus either, but I did take notes, which I don't know if I still have or not. I just thought it was weird for VPW to be going through all the slang terms like that; I had always thought of him as grandfatherly but I think sitting through CF&S changed my mind towards him being like a dirty old man. -
It works for Firebird/Mozilla, but still not in IE (I think IE just has crappy cacheing.) I ended up using a photoshop plugin that generates an ico file and it worked fine.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Mister P-Mosh replied to Zixar's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
I liked it for what it was, just a brainless action film with cool special effects. -
You must be a movie critic for a living. :D-->
