I remember that, although I'm pretty sure were were in different areas. Unfortunately, I didn't get out then, although it was a time when my parents considered it for the first time (they didn't get out though.) I think that I share some of the blame for them staying in, as my waybrain dedication managed to override my intelligence. I basically talked to them about how TWI was about God and not about a man. I was wrong.

I agree with that completely, which is why I don't have high hopes for it either. Also, I checked out their message boards which ....ed me off a bit with some of the racist comments there. Still, I have hope that the latin American immigrants are going to fit in just like the Irish did when they came to the U.S. It may take time, but it's bound to happen as long as they don't try to get a sense of entitlement and pick up a victim mentality. Anyway, my wife and I will go see the movie if it comes to a theatre near us, but I can't say for sure that I'll like it, based off of the previews.

I'm interested in seeing the movie A Day Without Mexicans when it comes out, although I don't have very high hopes for it. Basically, the plot seems to be that everyone in California wakes up one morning, minus those of latin descent who have mysteriously vanished. It then goes through scenario after scenario of what problems would occur and what benefits people of Mexican descent have for the U.S.

It was too focused on a love triangle to be a war movie, but with too much fighting to be a chick flick. I think their main problem is that they didn't focus on any specific type of person and instead tried to throw a bone to everyone, but ended up making nobody happy in the end.

Wierwille books on eBay - going for HIGH $$$
Mister P-Mosh replied to Jeff USAF RET's topic in About The Way
I might be willing to do it, if someone else were to auction and mail it off for me. I'd prefer to keep the money myself because I'm a little short on time at my job, but I'd be willing to donate a book or two to the cause. I'd really like to find someone who wants to buy LCM's advanced class syllabus. It would be perfect for a psychiatrist who wants examples of sociopathic delusions. -
VPW's PFAL class was where I became very skilled in the art of drawing Garfield and the other characters from that comic strip. In fact, I could have probably gotten a job taking over from Jim Davis or whatever the artists' name is.

Like quite a few network TV shows, that was just a ripoff of a British show that was toned down for American audiences. I hear they are ripping off "The Office" to make an American version, and if they mess that one up, I think it's time to declare jihad on the TV networks.

I don't know what rank it should be, but I'd put retemories up there within the top five. Particularly when they were TWI definitions of the manifestations. I hated that I was supposed to remember a paragraph telling me what speaking in tongues is in wayspeak.

Wierwille books on eBay - going for HIGH $$$
Mister P-Mosh replied to Jeff USAF RET's topic in About The Way
Holy crap. I really need to sell mine. Of course, now that I mentioned it here, the WayGB would try to trace it back to who I really am or something. So, I'll have to wait yet again. -
What's a collared shirt?? --> Is that one of those "thingies" that has all those buttons attached? It's a green shirt that you put in a salad. Errr, bad joke. I mean a shirt with a collar. Like a button up shirt or a polo shirt.

Yeah, your avatar and my avatar are standing. The rest though, they might get chewed out for being off the word.

It was. I don't know when you were in, but I remember as a kid when they started doing this. There were a lot of things people did that you wouldn't have believed. I remember that as well. When I was younger, that was one of the "cool" things about TWI. It definitely changed over time though. It got ridiculous. The differences between "dress your best" and "casually nice" were beaten into our heads like they were retemories, and we had to know them clearly. Then there was the protocol such as standing when any member of clergy/way corps entered the room, but only for the first time. If you were teaching or leading, you would have to dress at least "casually nice" which would be khakis and a collared shirt. If you went to any limb functions that were not at a park, you would have to "dress your best" which is suit and tie. Even classes would be like that, although I think "casually nice" for all but the first and last segments, which was when you were supposed to wear suit and tie. So yeah, it was stupid.

A Conservative Surprise Re: Gay Marriage
Mister P-Mosh replied to Juan Cruz's topic in The Birds and the Bees
It wasn't directed towards anyone here, just society in general. ;)--> -
The most boring invent evented. Uh oh, I think I'm derailing my own thread really early on. So yes, I do agree with you that they were extremely boring. Not only that, but they'd have us donate a few dollars that supposedly somehow paid for the long distance call. I don't know about you, but somehow $2 a person for about 20 people seems like a REALLY expensive phone call. They either kept the money for other purposes, or rerouted the calls through Zimbabwe and Afghanistan. That would explain the bad quality I guess.

A Conservative Surprise Re: Gay Marriage
Mister P-Mosh replied to Juan Cruz's topic in The Birds and the Bees
It's another of those internet acronyms like LOL, but I'm glad you figured it out. -
This has probably already been discussed, but do you all remember the phone hookups? Those things were a joke. You have to wear a suit and tie just like if you went to TWI headquarters, clap when the people on the phone clap, and stand up whenever the person "leading" the phone hookup would imagine that it sounds like someone is walking on stage over the phone. I hated that later on these things became mandatory monthly deals, and the teachings got worse and worse (I stopped getting tapes shortly after LCM was gone, and never was found out.) Also, it was funny to see the hookup leader trying to lead a song to be in sync with the phone hookup.

A Conservative Surprise Re: Gay Marriage
Mister P-Mosh replied to Juan Cruz's topic in The Birds and the Bees
The solution to get everyone to STFU about this issue is to simply ban government recognition of marriage altogether. Give domestic partner certificates out so people can have the taxes done together and have rights as a spouse, but don't call it marriage and don't act like it is. Then, let whatever religion or non-religion people want to do to get married do it. The government really has no business dealing with religious concepts anyway. -
Q: How many C++ programmers does it take to change a lightbulb? A: Just one, but he stays up all night doing it while eating cheetos and drinking Jolt Cola, and the next day you discover your toaster and shower have stopped working. Q: How many sysadmins does it take to change a lightbulb? A: None, he wrote a script to do it automatically so he can go out for pints. Q: How many network administrators does it take to change a lightbulb? A: None, because the light should route around the damage from another source in the event of the failure of a single bulb. Q: How many managers does it take to change a lightbulb? A: None. One to write the proposal document, two to gather requirements, one to manage the project, one to outsource the lightbulb changing to India, one to act as a team lead for himself, one to manage the HR, one to facilitate the communications between all of the managers, one to schedule the tasks, one to make sure that the light is functional after the change for the managers, one to make sure that the users of the light will be able to use it, and one for budgetting. In the process, nobody actually gets to the point where they change the lightbulb.

I imagine that's why TWI says Stephen Hawking can't walk as well. No, he doesn't really have a debilitating disease, he's possessed! Why else would he talk with a robotic voice! DEVIL SPIRITS! Anyone who has an unnatural above-median amount of knowledge must be operating devil spirits, right?
-
Not really to answer any of the questions, but for the sake of discussion I'd like to touch on two points. 1) Spousal abuse. I don't really get why anyone would think that it's ok. To me, it seems completely unnatural. I think I'd commit suicide before I ever punched my wife. On the other hand, tickle fights, as well as a good brawl in Virtua Fighter 4 on the Playstation 2 are perfectly acceptable. 2) Cheating. It's definitely not generational, because I think more people do it now than they did back then. Personally, I don't care if people do it, as long as their spouse is ok with it. As a committed, heterosexual, man, I can see the lure of other women. It's natural to want to be with other women. The thing that stops me from doing it is knowing that it would hurt my wife. Even if she wouldn't know, I won't do it out of principle, plus the fact that I'm bad at keeping secrets from her and would feel extremely guilty.

Not only that, but when you have to pay to take a class, which is held in a house that someone volunteers to use, where TWI pays for no materials but profits, then it's a scam. ABS is a black hole.
-
I even remember plurality swaps or something like that, where TWI members would get together with their excess, and exchange clothing and such with each other. What was left would be taken to Goodwill. For whatever reason, these were stopped by the leaders. Charity within TWIs own members was discouraged.
-
I was discussing this with my wife last night. TWI gave money to nothing, as far as I know. Not only did they not give charity, but they redefined it to mean supporting them. In addition to that, they eagerly took money away from people that needed it, and they gave their own slaves, I mean employees, very little of it. They are the exact opposite of charitable organizations. Give to noone, take everything you can from everyone you can. Money may be the easiest category to quantify their greed, but they settle for nothing less than your mind.

Is there still a lot of drinking in the way?
Mister P-Mosh replied to My3Cents's topic in About The Way
There used to be a lot of drinking in The Way, but then I left. -
Other People's Pancakes. Some people enjoy eating them.
