The Sickest Show On Television
Mister P-Mosh replied to Pirate1974's topic in Entertainment Archives
I saw one recently that I think is a good competitor for the sickest show. I forget what the name is, but they take ugly women and give them plastic surgery in order to feel good about themselves. It basically provides evidence that appearance is everything, and that you can find all the happiness and adoration in the world if you get a boob job and a facelift. -
Tom, this is a tangent, but also look into taking your laptop around with you wherever you go. I've found that tons of places offer free wireless LAN access. Even the hotel I am staying at offers it, plus the Starbucks within range, and the Panera bread up the street, etc. I'd use them more if I didn't have a piece of crap Sony laptop that has a battery that only lasts 5 minutes.

If your church requires you to fill out a bigger form to request time off than your employer does .......... You might be in a cult.
-
If you are not content with the meaning of a sentence like, "Jesus wept" and have to convert it to a fifty paragraph paper that takes ten hours of Sunday evenings to explain to everyone else ......... You might be in a cult.
-
If a guy with a big forehead yells obscenities at you for over an hour, and you think that it means God is really working in him to inspire you......... You might be in a cult.

I just realized that the Roman empire broke up in the 300's. This is about the same time the Romans stopped throwing Christians to the lions and recognized it as their primary religion. If I recall correctly, the church split it up between Rome and Constantinople, and the two groups fought for control and then fell to outside sources. So in effect, the Roman Empire was destroyed by belief in Christianity. At least, if I were to use similar logic to those that blame it on homosexuals, although I at least have circumstancial evidence. -
What is the reason? I didn't see anything special in the review.
-
This was a bit later than that, so things may have changed. Also, an attempt was made to split the people up and get them into English speaking fellowships, but since a good number of them didn't understand English, they got tired of it and left. I don't really feel like giving details here but if anyone wants to discuss it I will be less vague via private topics.

The same holds true for me, but it wasn't so much because of the leadership. We did have some good Corps people who I know were 100% non-racist, up to the limb level that I can personally vouch for. However, thinking back, in the TWI fellowship that I grew up in, we had one black guy that was witnessed to which ended up bringing his girlfriend and eventually she broke up with him and brought another boyfriend and her sister, and about fifty thousand little kids. There was also another black woman that was in TWI from a long time ago that came back and ended up in my fellowship. There were a few others as well, and they didn't seem to be discriminated against in any way by the local and state leadership. Of course, when considering the situation with the Spanish speaking fellowship, it looks like the racism came mainly from the top.
-
Actually, not only did TWI leadership not want to reach out to minorities, but they actively chased them off. I remember a Spanish-speaking fellowship in my area that was closed down by Michael Fart (the fact that it made it all the way to him is a bad sign as well) because he felt that if they wanted to live in the U.S. and learn about "God's word" then they should learn English. Granted, this statement was given to me second-hand, but I do know first-hand that even though it was the only area that had a lot of outreach it was still shut down. I guess TWI doesn't want migrant workers and others that don't have a lot of money to join. I'm not sure if this occurred with Radar O'Reilly was around here, because I was very young at the time and didn't really have much insight into what was going on.

Adam and Eve could not have been married as there were no clergy at that time, and noone to marry them. Therefore, their premarital sex was sinful, and all of their children were bastards. -

So, now that you and your wife can no longer be married due to the death of "The Institution of Marriage", what are you doing Saturday night? Just kidding. :D--> -
I figure they'll pull an X-men and simply make up a new story. They already had Brock as a character in the first one, so I wouldn't be suprised if something else happens since the Secret Wars stuff is too weird for a Hollywood movie at this time. Also, I'm wondering if we will get to see a combo movie of the X-men and Spiderman, or even crossing with any of the other superheroes. It's also probably about time for a non-sucking Superman movie.

I thought it was a decent movie as well, although we could have done without all the naked man scenes. Of course, I do wonder why so many LoTR cast members were in it. There was Legolas and Boromir as main characters, but also I believe the actor who played Gimli had an uncredited cameo (one of the Greeks invading the city), as well as possibly Theoden (I thought I saw him during the reporting of Helen's dissapearance.) It seems like one other person as well but I can't remember who.

You know, this would go in well with that site I posted here a while back. The Bible according to IRC.

I think that they were trying to hint at Van Helsing being the angel Gabriel, or something. He was supposedly the left hand of God, after all.
-
My wife has done this. I believe she used Macromedia Director for it. I'll ask her if I can remember.
-
Obviously, because he was the Man Of God, and so the attacks of the adversary against him were so strong that we should cut him some slack. I mean, obviously none of us know how much pressure is put on a holy man to commit rape.

I guess it's just a Texas thing, because parents here refuse to leave the theater unless you go get a cop to enter the theater and ask them to leave.

Dracula is supposed to be pretty cool and normally a real bad guy, but the portrayal in this film was not ominous enough. In fact, he didn't really do much for being the primary villain. Van Helsing on the other hand, was not so famous so there wasn't much expectation other than what was in that Dracula movie from the 90's. Personally, I felt that Van Helsing's character was a bit of a ripoff of Vampire Hunter D and Wolverine.

I saw this yesterday, and my opinion is that movie theaters need to stop allowing people under 16 to go into movies that are rated R even with their parents. Some jackasses decided to take their ~4 year old to see it and sat next to my wife and I. Of course, the kid was a typical kid and was getting scared, yet the parents were too stupid to realize that you shouldn't take a young kid to see a potentially scary movie, so they pretty much ruined it for me. Some days, I wish I had the license to exterminate stupid parents like this. If they don't have the sense to not take their kid to a scary movie, they probably don't have the brainpower to feed them, send them to school, etc.

This would have to be a seperate game, but I think you should take one sip of your drink every time the teacher ends a sentence with the word "see." That annoyed the hell out of me because it sounded like gangster talk, yet VPW and LCM did it constantly.

I'd also wonder if any Microsoft codecs could be to blame. I'm not aware of Media Player actually playing DVDs without using the API of another piece of software, but it's entirely possible that the newer versions can play DVDs on their own and have a messed up codec. I'd follow the other suggestions first though, and then see what happens.

Heh, the worst is when they would have kids do it. The kids would barely be old enough to read as it is, and they would be scared of being reproved, so they would slowly and painfully stutter their way through a few pages while the parent glared at them and would get frustrated whenever the kid messed up a word like "manifestation." Fortunately, I only had to sit through a few of those.
