I saw this movie yesterday, and I thought it was pretty good. In fact, I'd say that it's the wave of the future. The wave of the future. The wave of the future. The wave of the future. The wave of the future. The wave of the future. The wave of the future. The wave of the future. The wave of the future. The wave of the future.

Could that be due to IBM's punchcard system used for organizing the Holocaust? Perhaps VPW said, "If it's good enough for der furher, it's good enough for me!"

You can run linux on AS/400 servers. In fact, you can set it up to appear to be multiple servers, if you wanted to. I don't know much about AS/400, but I do know that IBM donated a pretty beefy one to a place I used to work about five years ago. I assume they are still out there and in use.

My mother in law makes a lot of money from one called Omnilife, which is based out of Mexico and somehow an "offshoot" of the one called Omnitrition from the U.S. She pulls in a few grand a month from them, which is a really good salary for Mexico. They're not bad, because the company does a lot for the communities down there. They've set up fancy schools that people can send their kids to for free, and a lot of other community services. It's still a MLM though, and while their health food products do work and are generally good, I'm not really a huge fan of them I guess. Still, I just wanted to post this so you know that it's not impossible to make money from MLM, as long as you are careful and get into one that you can do well with. I have no idea how you determine that.

The political correctness you speak of is long gone. Today, it's the "you're either with us or against us" garbage coming from the radical right wing people who are trying to force me to hate gay people and pretend that the U.S. is a Christian nation rather than a free country, and that somehow it's patriotic to suck up to the politicians.

I guess you're right. Bush pretends to be a Texan, when he's really a wussy little cheerleader alcoholic coward from a rich new england family. Kid Rock is a wimpy little fake redneck who dated one of the trashiest women alive (Pamela Anderson) and thinks that he's tough. Both are poseurs, both are lame, both are horrible at their jobs, and both can go to hell. They're welcome to each other.

Oh, she was no lesbian, the dirty dirty whore...

Heh, they need something capable of reading this site and processing it to check for personal information to identify it. Think of it as a TWI version of Echelon. (I was just kidding about the above.) Anyway, why was an article written quoting TWI about computers? That's like trying to get a satellite phone endorsement from Usama bin Laden.

Seemed good to me, although I was distracted by other things.

My wife and I got married in the Paris Las Vegas hotel. It's one of the nicest hotels I've ever been to.

You are correct, but it is a stupid thing to be required to do if your purpose is to back up your music collection. If you have 20GB of music, you have to get a 40GB iPod just so you can have it on there twice.
-
My wife and I both have iPods and love them. They are the greatest MP3 players out there... ...but... ...iTunes is a horrible piece of crap. Unfortunately, Apple handicapped the iPod with iTunes in such a way that I would not reccomend an iPod to anyone who just wanted to listen to music. Here are a few gotchas: 1) If you switch computers or if your computer dies, you lose all of your music. It is not possible via iTunes to copy music from your iPod to your hard drive, only the opposite. 2) iPods force you to use iTunes, rather than allowing it to be set up as a virtual drive and just copy songs over like most other MP3 players. 3) iTunes does not use the normal key behavior on Windows. For example, if you use Shift and the arrow keys to select a bunch of songs, if you press up, it messes up and goes to the top of the list and goes up one, instead of acting normal and just deselecting the one at the bottom. 4) iTunes locks up randomly and regularly. It comes back, but it is a pain to deal with. 5) If you use AACs instead of MP3s, there is strict DRM software that prevents you from copying it to more than a set limit of computers. There are some things you can do to make things easier. I use EphPod, which is sort of an iTunes replacement. However, if you upgrade your iPod to the most current firmware it may not work. Unfortunately, the designers of the iPod are geniuses, but the people that designed iTunes deserve a bullet to the skull (not literally, but they nearly made me lose my entire music collection, my CDs are in storage and unavailable for now.) I would look for alternatives to iTunes before you consider buying an iPod.

You are thinking of the Council of Nicea(sp?) in 325 which TWI talks about a lot when discussing the date that Jesus was voted on being a god rather than a person. Some other things they did were removing parts of the bible that didn't suit their new standards, set Christmas as December 25 (I think this happened then), and a few other things. It was essentially the bringing about of modern Christianity, which is still practiced today and is nothing like what the original Christians practiced as far as I can tell. If you want signs of paganism, I'd bet that at least 99% of Christian beliefs are ripped off from other religions. It's pretty shocking.

Has anybody seen "What the Bleep ?"
Mister P-Mosh replied to reikilady's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
I didn't like it. Of course, I went in expecting something more scientific. Instead, it was not completely accurate, and it was extremely thin on the science front. Also, they don't identify the "experts" until the end, and I was suprised to learn that the fat blonde woman was supposedly channeling a scientist. -

Sure, here's the link: Catholic Relief Services. I accidentally said rescue instead of relief originally. Also, I was gone because my computer died (my advice is to never buy a Sony, they break too easily) then my wife and I went out of the country for a few weeks. There are quite a few things people can do to figure some of these things out too. I notice that when I'm camping or hiking, I seem to pick up on things that I wouldn't normally as well. We have constant noise and distractions in our lives, so when we get in nature we see a lot more. Also, some animals can hear things that we can't, and have senses that we don't. Nothing spiritual or magical, but just things like sonar or being able to hear in high pitched wavelengths. Still amazing though. -
As any good conspiracy theory, this is just taking a few facts and combining them in such a way to guess at something unproveable. I don't actually have enough information to believe this to be true, but there are a few things that were not right about TWI in a way that I haven't really seen addressed here. The basic idea is that the upper echelons of TWI could have possibly been a secret pagan group, covered up by the Christian aspects of it. Sort of how the conspiracy theory of the Freemasons being a cover for the Illuminati works. 1) The Horn of Plenty - Every meeting, we passed around a big phallic symbol that originated in ancient Greece. Depending on which story is earlier, it either came from Zeus pulling the horn off of a goat, or it came from Hercules pulling it off of an opponent who transformed himself into a bull. In any case, it represents fertility and abundance. That can be made obvious, as it's effectively a symbol of a penis that is "fruitful." 2) The Way Symbol - The seal or symbol of the way is a giant tree on top of the Earth. This is clearly a reference to Yggdrasil, the Norse "World Tree". 3) Sexual Enlightenment - The top people in TWI abused people sexually, using scripture as an excuse. The idea of having sex as a religious experience is much older than Christianity, and we are all familiar with the ancient Roman orgies. If TWI leadership used scripture to try to justify having sex with other people, perhaps they may have really believed that it was a religious experience. In either case, forcing people against their will or tricking them into it is rape. 4) Speaking In Tongues - This could be used for chanting, and TWI's way of teaching it is similar to that of the Oracles. I would list more, but I have to go now. Keep in mind that I am just posting this as possibilities, not something that I really think is what happened. I just want to see what everyone else thinks.

If anyone is interested in donating, I found a group called Catholic Rescue Services which gives a lot more money to those that need it than thieving groups like the Red Cross or United Way. Yes, they are an organization run by Catholics and I know that TWI made a lot of people hate them, but that group does help people. -
I think one of the problems with modern Christianity is that at some point, someobody dreamed up the concept of "The Rapture", which doesn't even exist in the Bible, and people form doomsday religious groups like the 7th Day Adventists and take it all way too far. Even looking at what is in the Bible, there was talk about the end of times, but it was never the focus of Jesus, Peter, or Paul as far as I can tell. Paul also was pretty specific that some of the Christians who were alive at the time would not die and instead Jesus would take them. He advised people to not get married so they could hurry and focus on spreading their religion, for example. Plus, people focus so much on Revelations as being some great mystery, when it's in fact just a coded writing about how bad the Roman Empire was, and how they were supposedly going to pay.

As usual, you are being completely irrational. If you first said that we should listen Galen because he is a veteran, but that I am wrong because I listened to people who have served in this Iraq war, you are being logically inconsistent. You simply want us to listen to people that you agree with, and ignore those who you do not agree with. That's simply dishonest and disrespectful to the people who have served or are serving as you try to use them as pawns in a website argument. I don't think such a childish statement deserves a response. You're too old for this. What qualifies you then? When have you been in Iraq? What makes you an expert on the military? I have no question that Galen knows a lot about the military, and has much more practical experience than I do. I have never questioned his experience, I simply disagree with his statement about recruiters still pulling in record numbers of people and turning lots of people away. In any case, I'm sure Galen and I disagree and I respect that. He's chosen not to be whiny and try to pick a fight, which I also respect. If he wants to argue with me he is more than capable and willing to do so, and doesn't need you or anyone else here to "defend" him. He's fully capable of having his own discussions and using his own fingers to type what he wants to say. Your tactic of trying to put me in an argument with Galen will not work.
-
I have taken the word of people who have been over there. Galen has served his country, which nobody questions or has made an issue other than you. However, I have talked to people that have served in Iraq within the past two years. Galen has not, which is no slight against him other than the one that you are trying to invent to pick a fight.

Apparently, CBS and NBC have refused to air an ad by the United Church of Christ because it doesn't portray gays in a negative light. According to this press release: You can view the ad here.

You are incorrect about their reason for introducing it. The draft boards had been building up since last year and hiring new people, there have been a lot of plans being made for the draft, so they simply wanted to call the Bush administration on it and force them to publicly make a stand one way or another on the draft, which they successfully did. I don't think it really matters though, because if a draft is made, they will either call it "homeland service" or something so that it isn't specifically called a draft, or people will forgive Bush for being a liar and go back to eating their Freedom fries. The Bush administration has used both techniques fairly regularly when they lie about things.
-
The "backdoor draft" that is already occurring is ridiculous, as I just read a story of a 50-something year old Vietnam vet who is being reinstated. There are lots of others such as lindy's friends who are technically being drafted as well. Usually it's based on skills rather than a generic draft and it's limited to veterans (at least for now.) Also, the paperwork surrounding bringing back the draft that is being worked on now specifically talks about a skills draft. They're looking to possibly draft medical people and other areas of specialty that are running low in the military. Another point is that they're not just looking to draft people into the military, but the idea is a general government job-placement draft. They want to be able to practically enslave people and force them to work at crappy government jobs. Of course, it's definitely possible that the drafting of doctors and other specialists would be something that is preceeding a bigger "cannon fodder" type of draft, which is when you should be afraid for your sons. Right now they're just making plans for the draft and setting the draft boards back up. Most of the documentation I've found about the draft really dates back to 2003, and they haven't taken a lot of additional steps to prepare to induce non-veterans yet. However, if there is another big terrorist attack, or if we end up in another war, there's no question that there will be a draft. I guess the bottom line is that yes they are preparing for a draft, but not in a way that means they are necessarily going to do it. I think Galen has been given incorrect information about recruitment levels, but even ignoring that and looking at reenlistments, the military is using this back door draft and threatening soldiers that if they don't reenlist they will end up in Iraq for a longer period of time than if they reinlisted. It's a shame that the leaders of our military don't give our soldiers the proper training or equipment, then turn around and place them in harm's way without a good reason, and now they use coercion to force them to stay in danger. Nevermind that there is no real leadership overseeing things over there which allows crap like Abu Ghraib to happen.

As an amateur investor, I've been paying attention to this. KMRT is a great company to invest in, even in long term from what I can tell. The idea that the Kmart stores closing down is only one perception, but from a business standpoint it's great. Rather than letting stores that are not making enough money to survive stay open and waste their income, they close the ones that do worst and find ways to make money by selling that real estate and extra stuff off. Also, Sears was getting into real estate, so this could help Kmart Holdings out quite a bit once they have a more diverse business. The analysts are expecting the stock price to go up to about $150 a share. It's at something like $105 right now, after a high of $119 earlier. If you check out this chart you can see that early on in the year, Kmart stocks were going for just a little over $20. Imagine if you had bought $1000 worth of that. You would be able to sell it now for about $5,000. That would mean you got paid about $4,000 for maybe 15 minutes worth of work. Anyway, as someone that owns some KMRT stock I'm excited about this.

I think that LCM was actually an unsuccessful Bill O'Reilly clone, in a way.
