These guys are also the ones that protested Matthew Sheppard's funeral, and they protest any other gay person that gets murdered for their sexual orientation. That attitude used to make me think they were on the same level as TWI, their website was www.godhatesfags.com, which I could see LCM registering. However, when they started protesting funerals of fallen soldiers, I saw them sink to a level way past TWI. I'm against the Iraq war as most Americans are, but there is no reason to blame our military for the actions of politicians. The people that serve in our military do deserve our support and respect, even as we fight to remind the politicians that they work for We the People. I know plenty of people who I would consider "extreme left" and really hate the war with a passion, but nobody would dare protest against the troops. Caring for our own is one thing that people of both sides of the political debate can agree on, and it just shows how much further out there Phelps and his crew of jackasses are.

I can't speak for rhino but it's a huge hassle for me as well. I don't remember how tall my ceilings are exactly, but I have to climb to almost the top of my ladder (I'm 6'4") and still reach up to touch the ceiling, so it would be a huge pain for me. That's why when I moved in I went ahead and spent some time changing out all the lightbulbs.

For restaurants it's generally 15% - 20%, more often 20% if I am ok with their service. However, I do not tip at fast food (I don't generally eat fast food, other than Jersey Mike's or Jamba Juice every once in a while) nor do I tip at buffets unless they take care of drinks and such. In those cases, I give 10%. If I get mad, I leave no tip at all. In those cases I also usually pay in cash so they don't have my name or anything, and I never go back to that restaurant again. There have been a few places I've had problems and given them second chances, but that was due to problems with the food rather than bad service, and they always had to make up the problems with the food somehow for me to return. Once I ate at my favorite Thai restaurant, and the larb was so spicy that I got blisters on the inside of my mouth, which I complained about. They did nothing, so I never returned to that place again, despite they fact that other than the one incident it used to be the best Thai food in Houston. Where I do tip over 20% is when I'm at a bar or club. If you tip well initially, when things get busy, you will get priority service and stronger drinks.

I put one in my garage that gives off quite a bit of light. If you've watched the new Battlestar Galactica series, there was an episode where they had to pass through a nebula that blinded them and messed up their equipment. That's almost as bright as the CFL bulb in my garage.

As has already been pointed out, the "article" is not true. Additionally, the author of it is a flat-earther that comes from a discredited organization that oddly enough gets money from electric companies to publish articles just like this: I do agree that the bulbs are not perfect for everywhere, but I'd prefer that people be able to make up their own minds about using them based on the facts rather than lies. The truth is that they are more energy efficient, and make sense to use particularly on lights that stay on a long time. If it's something like a bathroom light, for example, you should not use them because you aren't leaving the lights on long enough to get any benefit.

During the 2000 election, I didn't see the difference between Bush and Gore. Both appeared to be centrists with similar views. Afterwards, both turned out to be completely different. It makes me wonder how the candidates are going to be for the 2008 elections. Will they represent who they truly are, or will they surprise us and be something else entirely?

Read the rest of their site. It's where Raf will be working now.

It wasn't that it is a difficult test, but that it was made by an idiot.

It's on when everyone else is at work here, but I don't know exactly what time. In any case, it probably says something about society when a show that is supposed to be about fluff like getting your nails done and who Brad Pitt is eating lunch with today needs conflict and anger. At least we haven't gotten to a point where there is Ultimate Sesame Street Fighting Championships yet. If that happens, I'm going to check out that new planet they found.

If I were you, I'd change my name to TrustAndEBay...and sell those books ASAP! Seriously, they go for decent money. I made a significant amount of money selling my stuff on eBay. I found some more that I need to get ready to sell soon too, including a bunch of SNS tapes. -
My neighborhood has a great approach to stop crime. Part of our homeowners association dues pay for our security monitoring, and all the builders in the area install security systems as part of the house by default. The advertisements for houses outside of the neighborhood list this as one of the features in big letters so any criminals passing by can see. Theoretically, if you're looking to rob someone, you'd see the signs and drive away to some other neighborhood where alarm monitoring isn't on 100% of the houses. We also have off-duty cops that patrol the neighborhood at night as part of the HOA dues. Of course, I also own guns, which is a backup just in case, but hopefully everything else prevents the necessity of it.

I've never watched the show, but apparently Rosie and some right-wing nutcase would get into arguments all the time on there about politics. Whoever the right-winger is, they are supposedly as obnoxious as Rosie is, so I'd think that if the producers want a successful show, they fire both and focus on shoes or whatever people that watch daytime talk shows are interested in. As for Rosie, she's a loud-mouthed idiot. My biggest disagreement with her is over her stance on guns, but quite there are other things I actually agree with her on. The only problem is that she is so obnoxious in presenting her views that even if it is something I am sympathetic to, I hate how she presents it. So personally, I don't give a toss about The View or Rosie O'Donnell.

So ..how was it growing up with this stuff?
Mister P-Mosh replied to doojable's topic in About The Way
All I know is that all those stupid PFAL and WAP classes during the week really screwed me up at school the next day. Not only did the classes already go late on school nights, there was often a loud-mouthed mini-MOG running the class that wanted to flap his gob too much afterwards. There would be nights I didn't get to bed until midnight or later sometimes. -

I was never allowed to own any He-Man toys, or anything else "supernatural." G.I. Joes were fine, and the Transformers were ok (they were robotic machines, not devil spirits.) That was no big deal. What was the big deal was the music that I wasn't allowed to listen to until I got older and LCM announced that he listened to Metallica and such. -

Basically, my parents are good people and were good parents. However, TWI sucked and was definitely a negative influence on my life. I would say that it slowed down some aspects of my social life and gave me a bit of a superiority complex that I still have trouble getting rid of (I was also in the top 10% of students in the nation for a while.) Basically, as far as the sex part goes, I was heavily shielded from any of the indiscretions in TWI. I even doubt my parents knew about them, because they wouldn't have tolerated it as well. I remember the shock when LCM announced his problems, both my shock and that of my parents. Abortion was always something TWI said was ok, although in a vague way. It wasn't just my parents that really tried to keep me away from mingling with "unbeliever" girls. HFCs also did their part, even as an adult. In my early 20's I was once told in a group of other single guys that my HFC would come "rescue" us with a gun if we ever were in a relationship with an unbeliever woman. He wasn't completely serious, but nor was he completely joking. I guess my whole experience went from not understanding it as being different as a little kid to early teen and finding it an embarrassing and shameful thing to becoming a fervent follower in my late teens, then spending a few years trying to find out how to get out of TWI and not be M&A from my family. -
Virgina Tech Killer Identified? A Foreign National?
Mister P-Mosh replied to Tony Soprano's topic in Open
As more news has come out, it looks like he was in a mental institution at one point, and that he had been in trouble with the law at some point for stalking two girls. I didn't get any further information as it was just a blurb I heard on TV when I was in the break room. So if being in a mental institution and getting busted for stalking doesn't preclude someone from being able to buy a gun, what good are the background checks? I thought they were pretty thorough, I guess not. Perhaps the government just wants to waste our time with them to make us think they're doing something. -

I heard the teacher interviewed and she said that she had informed the school's administration and even the police, but since no crime had been committed by his disturbing writing, nothing could be done. This same story is told over and over every time there is some tragedy like this. There needs to be some social structure in place to deal with people who are dangerous due to mental illnesses before they get a chance to act out on it. -

Actually. they've determined that the same gun was used in both incidents. That doesn't detract from the rest of your post, but I wanted to pass on the additional information. -
Virgina Tech Killer Identified? A Foreign National?

I hate to be pedantic, but I'm tired of hearing the media constantly say that this is the worst shooting in U.S. history. It is the worst school shooting in more than 50 years, but not the worst shooting in our history. I would argue that the U.S. Civil War had far worse casualties. The battle of Gettysburg resulted in about 200k Americans (counting casualties of the firefight on both sides and ignoring deaths by disease) being killed in battle. If you want to ignore the wars we've been in, then you could even say that the battle during the Homestead Strike resulted in more deaths. For school deaths, the Bath school disaster in Michigan resulted in 45 deaths. The fact is, while this is a horrific tragedy, the media still finds a way to exploit it and "hype" what has happened. Even more sad though, this would probably be considered a "light" day of killings in Iraq. -

His name was Cho Seung-Hui, and he was a LEGAL immigrant from Korea on a student visa as he was a student at the school. -

Probably 99.999% of those jerk-offs screwing our country up are born in the U.S.A. Besides, it's not like China is known for crazies coming here and shooting up our stuff. They're killing us by serving us General Tso's Chicken and selling us useless plastic trinkets through Walmart. In any case, whether he was an immigrant, legal or on an expired visa, or a U.S. citizen, it doesn't matter. What he did was horrific, and we can blame nobody but him for this. There are certainly things that could have been done differently that may have resulted in fewer to no deaths, but he was the only one that really knew what was going to happen. -
I have known a few Wiccans/Pagans/Witches/whatever...and they are generally good people. One was a long-time girl scout leader who never discussed it. Another was a friend of mine who is now a grandmother and comes from a long line of I guess "pagans", believing that it predates Christianity in her family. Another was a guy that called himself a Wiccan and was just a jerk. Overall, I've never met someone who I would consider dangerous because of their beliefs in spells or their worship of nature. Quite the contrary; I've found them to be some of the least aggressive and more balanced people I've known. Most of the world's religions started out with some form of nature worship. I don't think Christians should be critical of a religion that predates theirs just because it's different. Yes, any religion can become a cult and damaging to it's followers, but that doesn't mean everything but one specific group is bad.

It's just the nature of the business. Everyone is buying and selling everyone else and making big profits, so often things end up changing. I work in the natural gas industry, and it's a mess. I've been there about two years now, and already we're completely mixed up. The building has the name of one company on it, our email address has a different company, and my paycheck has another company's name on it. All the results of mergers and acquisitions.

do you understand the notes you made in your bible?
Mister P-Mosh replied to coolchef's topic in About The Way
You're right, because of the meanings of the numbers. Oh crap, I just realized I forgot what 6 meant in TWI. I know 4 was the number of the world, 2 was in reference to something being established. I forgot six but I think it's something not good. If only I had taken more notes. -

Mister P-Mosh replied to coolchef's topic in About The Way
I felt that all the note taking was a waste of time, but I wanted it to look like I really paid attention so I wouldn't be called out on it. When I first took PFAL, my mom even marked a lot of stuff for me such as the different meanings of the word "spirit". People really prided themselves on how many notes they could take, as if there was some God-declared quota. "Thou shalt mark up at least 65% of thine margins...lest the Lord thy God smite thee with a plague of boll weevils."
