Methinks you need to go back to the sofa and lay off the codeine!

No, I have no additional light, however what you've written makes sense to me. Such a device might also be helpful for those with cellulitis (inflamation caused when leg circulation is poor) IF it does no damage to blood vessels. Does Rich's doctor have him on supplemental oxygen (the kind you breathe)? If not, I suggest he change doctors.

...that didn't come out right....I'll try again later

What strong lungs you have Alvin. You blew out the lighter 3 times in a row.

AWWwwwww c'mon guys - - don't be so hard on the guy! He has to go back to a ministerial position! He doesn't have the intelligence nor the guts to try out a real job.....a ministerial position means he keeps his means of making a living! You know his congregation must support him.... you don't want him to starve to death, do you?

In the end, it all comes down to what is best for your boys, Abi. After reading and considering all the cons listed above, I still think it's better to advance him. He will always be annoyed with pushing paper...that is inevitable. Some of it is for good reason, though. I have found that some of this work is saved and used to measure a child's kprogress....and also may be used to document that the scool is doing what it has to do...no child left behind kinda thing. Jacob cannot get the impression at this early age that school is a boring torture chamber! Try to preserve his natural hunger to know...and keeping him in an environment where he's effectively punnished for knowing the work is wrong. Mothers instinctually know what is best for their children, so you've explored all the viable possibilities, do what you believe to be best for Jacob and both of you will be fine. Things do sort themselves out over time, so who knows what the situation will be when Jacob is old enough for sports...maybe he'd rather do school newspaper instead...ya never know. As for Aaron! He must be aware that he's not as good in school as Jacob - at least reading-wise. What can you do to augment his self esteem? I know you're not ignorant in this, I'm just putting it out there thoughtwise. You're doing a fine job Abi! I commend you.

I have no opinion on him....don't know enough to have one. But I do enjoy the show because I like watching how different people find solutions to problems...some are good and some not so good. I also enjoy some of the insights into how some products are made. I loved the new Pepse bottle!

I'm so happy to hear that! I hope you enjoy it - I know you'll be good at it.

I understand Excathie and I agree. However I think you'll find those who are truly innocent, have been in jail since before things like DNA and other forensic evidence has been utilized. Jurors did the best they could with what they had. But with our modern day abilities, I don't think it's likely that that will happen again.

I did not respond to this the first time I read it (that quoted in sirguessalot's last quote above.) David: This is the way science used to be. I don't perceive that it's correct today. I used to teach my students a simple statement: Science seeks to know; technology puts the science to use. For a long time, all there was was science. Eventually some of the technology became useful enough tht people began to use it for their own purposes - - not just government and universities but the general populace. Cordless phones, small personal computers, better vacuums and more efficient refrigerators. All the sciences do communicate with all the rest better now than earlier....because of technology. At this moment in time, my opinion is that science is puxhing technology to go farther and do more while technology is asking science for more information to do a better job.

Okay, I understand why some folks take issue with my thoughts about 'Exile" and isolation for these criminals. I'm only describing how I think of this. Don't vote for me in a election, 'cause this is what I would try to accomplish! But that doesn't mean that I don't respect your opinion. This is just the way I see it. I cannot believe that the likes of these crininals consider it humane to be in prison for life either. Some people mention specific names...I don't always remember names, I do remember crimes though. The kinds of criminals I would send to exile (the way I described it) would be: serial killers; serial rapists; all those who killed anybody while driving drunk; and drug dealers who have caued overdose deaths as well as anyone who killed or maimed a polieceman or fireman in the line of duty as well as those who commit premeditated murder. (personally, I would decriminalize all drugs....yep I would...then I would tax them, just like cigarettes and alcohol are taxed today) We can't do anything about O.J., he's been tried and found not guilty, whether you agree with it or not, legally he's not guilty. That's how I feel about it, and there's probably nothing that can change my mind about it. I understand the opinions of those who think otherwise, and I respect them...and I respect the owners of these opinions....it's just that we don't agree. I guess we'll have to live with it.

With all due respect, then....let the bleeding heart liberals feed, house, and otherwise protect and preserve the health of the monster! I pay enough in taxes as it is...so that I can afford only the minimum in health insurance. I have no trouble feeding and housing a criminal who has a posibility of retuning to society and contributing to it....but not the likes of these super violent kinds.

When I said "exile" I meant to a presently uninhabited place! Something like what a penal colony could be (in my mind, anyway) I'm talking about all really violent crimes! Put them all together in a place where if they escape they'll probably die trying. No supervision of any kind to keep "order". Let them struggle to supply their own food and shelter. Once they're there...they are on their own. They don't respect out society and also don't belong here if they can't learn how. So - - let them try to form their own society! I'm not worried about folks like Scott Petersen because he was tried and judged according to his peers in this soociety and this society found him guilty. If we exhile him to another place, let them (his new peers) do whatever they will! Let them deal with each other. If they have such little respect for life, once they're "there", (wherever that is) why should I care about making sure they are fed, housed, and protected from each other.

The only thing that would hold me back from doing this is if I was certain my child would not continue to fit in with those in his advanced grade. (physically ore than anything) Is he close enough in age to them that when he's 13 he won't stand out like a "little" kid when most of the rest are maturing? Will it be a problem if everybody else gets their driver's licence for the Sr. Prom and he can't get one? It's difficult to project these kinds of things. As an aside, it may sound rediculous...however, do you know how "outsiders" determine if a child in an "unwesternised" country, such as the heart of Africa determine if a child is ready for school? They suggest the child is really ready if he can take one hand and run it over his head and touch (cover) the opposite ear. (right hand on left ear etc.) I have no idea why it works, but it does as a general standard. (I'm a wealth of such useless information! - and I also stink at Trivial Persuit, spelling and typing)

Ask for the pill that helps keep swelling down. It is a steroid, but it's given over a short period of time, so there's much more benefit than harm. Ice, ice, ice, ice....peaceful quite environment to recuperate. She'll proably want a sub for her classes for the reat of the week. In addition...I'm a'prayin'!

I believe in the death penalty only for the really heinous(sp?) crimes, and this is borderline in my mind! Really! Serial rapists, serial killers, those whos crimes affect many people...+ a few others. BUT in this case, I would vote for it because of some of the things mentioned on this thread. Why should my taxes keep such a person warm, dry, fed and with medical care? Tha's what fries my liver about "lifers".In addition they are allowed family visits, phone calls and commisary privilges. How absurd that is! I wish we could exile them all to a place where they would have to fend for themselves among each other where they are away from the society they harmed.

IMO from experience....having it pulled - - no sweat...after 24 hours or so...you've almost forgotten it. But to have it chizzled out of your bone ia quite another matter.
