Indeed! The Parkinson's makes everything more difficult.

My condolences to all the family and friends that knew her and loved her.

I'm sure it will be on again. It was excellent, as Nova generally is. There were great visuals but lots of talking....very good talking by experts explaining a lot of stuff. I'm sure you can order it from the Boston Channel that produces them, or from your local PBS carrier...cost it $20+ shipping. I can't tape anymore, otherwise I would have copied it and sent it to whoever wanted it. The episode will be on again. IMHO it's best for 7-8th graders or older who have at least some knowledge of scientific method and also some knowledge of plate techtonics.

Did Terri Schiavo's parents ever try to get guardianship?

Very small quantities of morphine are used to ease breathing in imobile patients. It happened to me. I have chronic breathing problems and last May when I had that catastrophic accident, I was positioned in such a way that breathing would be difficult anyway. My arms were strapped, splinted or hung in such a way that my chest couldn't move easily. I was given something for pain because there was a lot of it....but I became quite short of breath after the second day and a very small dose of morphine was added to my IV and it was very helpful. However much or little was used was not touching the pain and when I asked the nurse if I could have something for pain she came quickly with a shot! But it wasn't morphine. After the ER they changed the pain med to something else...but I forgot what they used. -
One of the food services I worked for long ago instructed us to finish our business, then close the lid, then use foot to flush, then wash hands and dry with paper towel, then use a clean towel to finish drying hands and open door...drop paper towel in bin as you went through the door...touch nothing until you returned to the kitchen.

From an article written by AP today:

Shell - of course I understand your frustration - - that's the kind of thing that forced me to stopo teaching and hang up my chalk! How about being a social worker who advocates for the elderly? or one who works in hospitals? After my accident, if I didn't have a tiger for a social worker, I would have been sent home from 7 days in hospital...still unable to feed myself, tend to my own bathroom needs, walk from the bed to the bathroom even. No rehab facility was willing to take me and nobody knew what to do with an ailing woman with 2 broken arms. She twisted and twisted until she got Kessler to take me. If they hadn't I would have either been sent home to rot or plunked in a nursing home where I promise you - -I would still be there today if I hadn't died before hand. Please find a way to use your abilities someway. At least...give us a few places to start rattling some cages about this....who can we call or write to about this? There has to be some way to make a lot of noise about it!

omigod shell - I don't blame you for being ....ed! I understand how yu feel as best as I can. I don't know what to tell you...but I'd want to know how that happend too! That is obscene!

There's nothing wrong with you guys! Part of the problem is that more abuse is reported today...there are fewer taboos about talking about it. Part of the great number of victim is that one perp abuses so many people...how many is lcm responible for hisself? Somek things that used to be considered normal are now called abusive. For example - my father spanked me hard...and once or twice used his belt. Fifty years ago he was "strict" but today he'd be called abusive.

For my money - Satori's on the right track. Or - we could leave them in San Quenton, oopen all the doors and turn the power off. Withdraw all the guards and let the other inhabitant fend for themselves. I'd even allow a food and water drop once a week.

Ketchup is thickened tomato sauce with sugar added...read a recipe book!

Have a stupendous day!
-
Why yes, sort of - - I dip 'em in ketchup. That's just about the same thing. Not nessicarily - - maybe he also likes pineapple on pizza.
-
I'm typing slowly and deliberately so you catch my drift! I am not kidding. Anchovies may or may not go on pizza....just as pineapple may or may not go on pizza. But you can put pineapple on pizza! Now - I am not going to continue this debate right now.....I'm going to get my nails done! If you need to continue this discussion...I will return later. Meanwhile..suck it up...and admit you were mistaken.
-
Oh yes it is! If you want to - we can feud about it...or you can take my word for it. You can't put coconut on pizza....but pineaple works! Is it still pizza with anchovies on it?
-
This is war! If Raf is what you claim....what does that make me....who absolutely loves pineapple on pizza...especially if there's pepperoni on it too (but you could use ham!)

Students in one of the local Parocial schools here hired themelves out as "Slaves". This time of year especially people will be happy to have help doing outside work such as yard cleanup etc. They had a list of things they were willing to do such as raking, twit bundling, window washing and even heavy spring cleaning indoors. Each item had a reasonable hourly fee. We hired a group to help with windows, and nearly everyone in this area "hired" somebody over the 3 weekends they hired themselves out. The group made plenty of cash, and helped out a lot of the senior citizens in this area.

Methinks that is the definition of addiction. Withdrawal symptoms have nothing to do with the power of addiction. Most folks who want to quit hard drugs can withstand the riggors and horrors of withdrawal - - most tobacco addicts have more difficulty...it's the substance, not the character of the individual.

That was hysterical! I loved it! Thanks.
