    5yr old handcuffed

The first place to start is with a full physical of the child. I've seen all kinds of tantrum-like behavior result from things as "simple" as low blood sugar! A full physical would include brain scans to ensure there is no underlying problem there. Those of you who say that a 5 year old girl cannot inflict damage in such a tantrum have never dealt with such a child. Blame the parents; blame the teacher; blame the child; blame the police....why? All we know is that short segment the media released to us. It should probably never have been released -- why should all the individuals now be hung out to dry? It would have been better, perhaps, if the police had some other restraining device...wrap the girl in a small rug or blanket...even a straight jacket...but given what they had to work with....they did OK. Which one of you 200 lb people would like to pick up this out of control child and carry her safely to the nearest exit? She was flailing around so much that if someone had....and she happened to break her arm flailing against a door jam or such other item....the police would be sued for causing bodily injury!
  3. Bluzeman has a private message. Aren't the rest of you just a little jealous? krys
  4. I love my Dell. I had 2 problems which needed help. I called the number and the first problem was easy....I knew the problem....I needed a new mouse driver 'cause I switched to a different one...the tech directed me to the correct download spot and I was fixed pronto. I waited 8 minutes for somebody to pick u the call, but I called at 1 am! YMMV The second was a more sinister problem. The driver for the standard keyboard does not permit the computer to enter standby mode WHEN CERTAIN PROGRAMS are installed. They know of the problem. There is no way to "fix" this....but there is a work-around. That call took about 20 minutes to solve...such as it is. I have no idea which program is causing it! I bought the 15" flat pannel monitor and thought I would have problems seeing it as I was using a 19" CRT before. This is a great monitor. I can't swear to it, but I really don't notice a difference in size...but I can see stuff on this one soooo much better! Good luch!
  5. It's much better for me too.

    The New Pope

Given his age at the time, I doubt he had any real choice in the matter. You either joined or were dealt with. He was released when he made it known he was entering the priesthood. When actually "forced" into the army, he chose desertion rather than serve and follow the orders he was given. Sometimes it's too easy to put a label on somebody and have it stick!

  8. How much money will you have to spend?
  9. There may be many who should stop calling themselves "rev" but there are some who have earned the title, and should retain it because they work(ed) for the "church" - - Joe Guarini...Sidney Waite...and a few others whose names I can't spell.

    Catholics are:

I really don't like this question. From the sound of the question and the choices given, it has been made to seem that Catholics are the only source of pedophilia. Now I know there are just so many ways to word a question...and I know there are just so many ways to word merely 5 choices for an answer...but the way pedophilia and Catholocism are linked here I really don't like it. What about all the sports coaches...lost of them fondle boys and girls in their care. How about teachers? How about scout leaders? If a person is a pedophile, they will do their thing anywhere they find it. Maybe a better question would be something like....do you thinks pedophiles are drawn to be priests in the Catholic church...or something like that.
  11. Could it be that the attacks on 9/11...all of them...strike us so hard because they are the first in which a foreign enemy killed civilians on our own home turf? We used to think we were invincible...now we know we're not.

    noni juice

I nominate excathie for "Miss Congeniality". Actually the nomination should go to Zixar...but last I heard there is no Mister Congeniality award....so I think by default he's exempt.
  13. Galen is not an idiot. His personality and his training just make him a man cut from a different cloth than most of the rest of us...but it's not inferior merchandise...it's just "different".
  14. I watched the trade towers go up too...but from a different vantage point in NJ. I watched visually from a roadway in my neighborhood and I heard all about them from an electrician who helped wire them...he was my next door neighbor. And when they fell down and burned...if the wind was blowing in the wrong direction I also smelled the rubble for months. Driving home on rt 17 that day caused me to weep - I had to pull over because I could see the smoke from the fires....it seemed from where I was that it went all the way up past "heaven"...went to the top of the sky. Ya know...I've been thinking...if "they" wanted to take out something uniquely American, they could have taken Mt Rushmore or the Statue of Liberty....but it was an attack on American soil but on worldly wealth in general....IMNSHO. [but perhaps this discussion should be in a different thread so we don't derail this one?]

  16. Naw - I don't think I can get up that early...I'm not in my own home so I don't want to disturb this one. But I did get up early and woke my young daughter early so she could watch the wedding of a century when Dianna was married...it was the "wedding of the century" [sorry if this seems in poor taste due to current happenings...I don't mean it that way]. I would probably watch otherwise. I can understand it Wacky. It is the closest thing I'll ever get to making history...the watching while somebody else makes history!
  17. It's a good thing you weren't listening to "Singing Ladies of the Way"! Maybe she called you on it because it was religious music and she did't like that...but show tunes could have had a different effect.
  18. The first Pope I remember was Jphn XXIII and I remember hearing that he was a beloved man too. I did like him, 'though I wasn't Catholic. I liked some of the things he did....but that was a long time ago and I can't remember now. I think I rember that there was a large crowd when he died...but I don't remember any other Pope's specifically until John Paul so I guess they weren't specifically note worth or news worthy. I suppose most of the people on the lines are probably Catholic but I think they are showing up for respect for the man he was, not the office he held. I came back to ammend this post. I just read the Pope's will in the NY Times. I am impressed!
  19. I am also happy for you both.
  20. Border Collie here! ............that explains it!

    Anger

I think that you really are most affected than...it is your own personal set of values! Without realizing it consciously in your mind...it's something deep down. I wonder if those things that happen "under the covers" so to speak...which affect us most!
