Wacky: Cruise is a nitwit! But what he said he researched was the history of psychiatry (sp?) - not about hyperactive kids. He said that studying that history showed him that it was all a sham and not even close to being a science.

You're right hiway....he is putting it all out there and it is a shame he believes it so tenaceously. I never talked to anybody like he did though. I don't think most of us did either.

I saw the part of the interview as well. I decided I'm not going to spend money to see any more of his films. He was the rudest celebrety I've ever seen. He interrupted Matt Lauer often with "but you've got to understand" enough times that I almost turned the tv off. I changed my mind on the way to the off switch when I realized that I was watching history. I was watching Mr. Cruise single-handedly trash his career with this. Matt Lauer tried to be nice...never lost his temper...and eventually had no choice but to let the man rant on.

He is correct in that, although half of a helluva lot is still a helluvalot! A partnership with Russia might not be such a bad idea - they've got oil, but no technology to get it out. No more pipelines, please. Use the "old fashioned" tankers and make them safer. The present pipeline is threatened by global warming...permafrost isn't so permanent these days.

I have a question: If the parents had taken the precaution of instilling a family password - - how come they didn't tell this to the rescuers? Things that make me go hmmmmm.

Hyperbaric Oxygen I wonder if everyone would read the whole article before critism. Highly unlikely, but, still wished for.

Well I've heard it said that dogs pick their owners - - so it looks like a good match. I grew up with a friend who had one...an absolutely wonderful dog! Her name was Corkie amd her antics were boundless. Pictures, we want pictures!

"Graduate Seniors With Failing Grades," Says Principal
krys replied to Stayed Too Long's topic in Open
As a teacher I was sometimes asked this question and I always reviewed my grades and the grades that student made with other teachers because I know I'm a fair grader, but a hard one. Once in a while I did elevate a grade but not often. But it really didn't matter because I would return in the fall and find that some administrator or othr fooled around with the computer and changed them anyway...sometimes more than one letter grade. So why ask me then?! -
Thanks Belle I have those instructions too so I don't need them. I think it is a combination of many things that are required for the label "kosher"..from the way the slaughtering is done, to the cuts used and other parts of whatever it is that it takes to make something kosher.

The advice given here is sound. I would like to add that there are other cars that are worth their salt, especially Ford escorts. We have driven them for many many miles and bought ours as used cars. If you want a good price check try Kelley Blue Book. On that same site you will find access to the info George SG recommended...look on the right for something like "search" or "title". I'd suggest that everything be written down. Make sure that a fair deposit will allow you time to have the car evaluated by your mechanic and that you can get your deposit back if you change your mind for any reason (not just mechanical) There are lots of really good used cars out there with plenty of service left in them.

The media slings hash how it will. I don't know what's true when it comes from them anymore. I believe the jury knew enough to make a just decision, so I just have to accept it.

I have a thousand Happy Birthday wishes, one for each name.

I had so many problems downloading music from various sites that it drove me crazy. Most of the problem was with spyware that came alone with it. When I switched to cable, they offered a paid for service called "Rhapsody" and I tried it. I love it. I've had no problems with music I've purchased and if I just want to listen, the music quality is quite good. If it's available in your area, you might try it. I don't think the problem comes from Bill Gates' end, rather, I think it's the music industries answer to those who previously stole music by various means.

Very cool! Thanks Paw - - thanks John!

Wacky have you thought about making inquiries at any of the living museums such as Sturbridge Villiage or Williamsburg? How many people have the skills you have to be a part of such living history? ------------------------------------------ About all the rest of us - - I know very very few people who have retired and "do nothing". Either they cannot afford to not work and so they work at least part time, or staying home drives them batty and they want or need to get out for some mental stimulation.

I know this is a derail. I wish I could find another kosher butcher! I used one for a while and while he was more expensive than supermarkets (not too bad however 'cuz I'm cheap!). His meat and chicken were way above average in taste and tenderness plus I was always assured of maximum cleanliness.

Look in the laundry section for FeBreeze (I' not sure how it's spelled). It comes in a trigger squirt bottle and it is an odor remover that works without leaning any other smell behind. Until you can run all your stuff through the washer or dry cleaner, spray with this stuff and you will not smell like a smoker. It will also work on furniture and drapes. Trust me.

I'm an unly American too, I guess, but I still find the statement offensive. I knew it was set in South Africa, that's why I used the word "this" - - but I shall go back and add some emphasis to make sure that stands out....probably should have done that in the beginning.
-
It's not only insulting, but I also find it offensive. In this country, a male who raped a woman wearing the device would sue her for damages after he copped a plea and finished 10 hours of community service. And he'd win.

Tropical Storm Arlene presently located just south of the western end of Cuba is expected to affect the Gulf Coast with heavy rain sometime this weekend.

That is a great post Satori. I like the way you think. I only hope those you wrote it for will read it and understand it and see the wisdom in it.

Trefor: Of course you're correct in that just repeating that prayer is vain repetition. But it was given of an example of how to pray. ;)-->
