I completely understand where you're coming from. Once we've been hurt like that, it takes a whole lot to get past that hurt. I think you will have another chance to meet these folks and I hope it will be in the restaurant because you can just set that aside and take them as your brother's customers and chat on that level. I could be wrong - but I wonder if they go to the restaurant because they know they will be welcomed as a customer.

What a great series of photos and thanks for sharing them. Where are you sailing? (what body of water and what time of year) My husband and I used to race Star Class boats - - just recently dropped from the Olympics. We won a few races in our time. We sailed out the East River Fleet and up and down most of the "ports" of Long Island Sound and many in Great South Bay as well. That was 30+ years ago. Both my husband and I remember sailing with a man named "Dick Poole" and - - my father had a wonderful close friend by the name of Al Poole decades ago. My dad worked for Con Ed at 14th street and irving place and he retired in 1978. His name was Chester Pedersen. What kind of boat are you sailing - - ow wow - brings back such good memories - - thanks krys

Hi all: Antivert - - Luke Filewalker stopped scanning midstream with this message" Begin scan in 'C:\' C:\pagefile.sys [WARNING] The file could not be opened! Now - I allowed MacAffee to install something yesterday, and my whole system went beserk because I "think" it set itself up as ruler of MY empire. So I booted it out. Afterwards, things were not the same so I used "system restore" and things were good. [running xp - sorry] After the restore, there were some items that were segregated and filed somewhere and I noted them mentally and things seemed ok - so I otherwise ignored that factoid. Here's my question: Am I in big trouble virus-worm wise at this juncture? or am I correct in the assumption that this piece of jibberish which stopped antivir was in all likelihood one of these stranded file segments? I'm off to check with the "doc" and a few other places now. Thanks for your kind attention.

I think that's a great idea. And I agree about the proceeds too. When we sold the big house we gave the sentimental stuff to our children. While we don't put up an actual tree anymore, there's a knot in my heart when I go to their homes around the holidays and see the things I considered precious, still being honored on their trees. ['scuze me now - I'm leaking .....]

The girl is most likely a child actress who just put a whole bunch of cash in her bank account! Suppose you didn't see the girl - or hear the sound of a young voice - but rather read those words..... Methinks she's right on! And we could do worse than to start with empathy.

Have all the birthdays you want. Just don't get old. Otherwise this happens.

Front loading washers rule! In addition to everything above - they are also kinder to your clothes. You'll find that that synthetics will not pill as much and in general, much less wear and tear. I doo not understand why - but I can attest to the fact that the clothes are cleaner. Detergent preference may vary by where you live because the water is different. Also try to use the coolest water that will give results, your clothes will last longer. Always use hot water for underwear and bed sheets and pillowcases. (I don't care if you think the colors will fade - it kills dust mites - and we all have them) You can use fabric softener in your towels if you leave it out of every 4th load. So the first week of the month, I leave it out....but that's just me. Clean your dryer's lint filterand traps. We are only 2 so it gets done when the clocks change and the fire alarm batteries get changed. Pull the lint trap out and use a vacuum or a long brush. What you can't get from the inside, you may be able to get from the outside.

It is impossible to obey God without first obeying your leadership

This sounds like "I don't like the message so I'm going to shoot the messenger". -
Years ago at least there was a semblance of worshiping God...now TWI worships TWI!.

I think this issue was under Martindale's reign. I don't recall any of this before his time. Moreover I believe it was in the mid '90's, that it started getting like that. They told you there was nothing outside the household...everything would eat you and God would not spit in your direction...then they told you to do something...and if you balked at it...they threatened to toss you out where all the bad stuff was. If you wanted God in your life, you had to do it on their terms. Simple as that...in those times. -
Mstar's CSPAN clip put a knife in my gut! As long as such a belief that "white men are out to kill black men" exists and is promulgated none of us will ever be free. It's not just black vs white...but every race is involved because we are not "just" black and white. It is beyond my comprehention that an attitude like this can and does exist today. =================================================== Maybe that's why it went un-noticed. Maybe nobody really believes he's serious. They don't believe his basic premise is accurate.

Yo! Medic! Happy Birthday. Remember - - No Boo Boos for YOU!

Agreed Tom! No one was hurt. You have to believe that is one savvy 5 year old. Not many his age would think straight enough to not only sneak away but also come back "in costume" to chase the men away.

Happy Birthday Ron! I hope it's the best - because you always give the best hugs....and I don't care if they think you're a hillbilly. If that's really true - then Hillybilly hugs beat all else! Celebrate big.

Congratulations o-Strange-one! Don't lt them rile you. Your posts may not always be - - but you are always significant to me. HMMMM methinks. At the rate I'm going, I may never reach that high and lofty, most respectable number.

I like your style HAPe. I do that also frequently. I also agree about the commercialism. I do love giving gifts, but I don't like being roped into it or guilted into it....and Chritmas shopping CAN do that if you're not careful. I do recognize the "spirit of the day" with ONE very festively wrapped gift and a very special meal.

Best wishes I send - like to be your friend! This is a great day to celebrate Pawtucket for who he is. He's a man of great vision and heart. May this be a great and wonderful celebratory day - and may you have beef instead of turkey!

oh Strange One - don't be afraid! Lots of posters got to stay after 10,000 posts! Trust me.

Tom your point is well taken!

From what I understand, there may not be much money to get! However, I guess in this "suit happy" time, it's worth a shot - - eh? Seriously, the man has wrecked anything he might have had left of a career. He's been banned from that club, and others may follow suit. When he apologized via satellite on David Letterman people in Letterman's audience shamelessly laughed at him. So - that's punishment enough in my judgment. Only 2 are going to sue - what about everybody else in the audience? I heard that he had become depressed previously of his own failed TV show - this could be a result of that. If he just "lost it" (which it appears to me is what happened) he can plead a mentally altered state and probably win so I see no point in bring even more attention to the issue. It was ugly enough, let it die - we have enough nastiness in the news every day.

A few churches that I know about have very large memberships. Sometimes they have HouseChurch in addition to the regular Sunday morning seervice(s) - sometimes Sunday evening, but also on other days of the week. Before I got involved in twi for a time I was in a church that did that and I liked it very much.
-
I'm really glad to hear that! It's good to know that somewhere there were those who really cared.

Hey! Thanks Notta - I located a wayward IRS refund (at least I think that's what it is). No abs for me though :P
