Here is the interview with mc cain where he explains why he didn't show up the first time. I should have looked for this last night - this was the one that had me really laughing. This is a shortened (much) interview. The full interview is there for those of you who can spend 23 minutes this morning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jiBqHczYJYo&feature=user (I will learn how to imbed.....promise)

Things have been heavy and deep for the past few weeks. I need a break so I'm gonna share what I think is the happiest song on earth. just for a few minutes, let's pretend..........................................

It just happened to me. This is an equal opportunity PITA

That is pretty much how it worked with me too, although I did take it for the prescribed 3 months. It took a few days after beginning it, but once I was taking it twice/day, I did notice that cigarettes tasted kind of blech. I started skipping a few here and there, and noticed any urges quickly passed. Before that week was over I was off them. And - - I do think it was the drug's assist which allowed me to sever my relationship with them. I had really been working to quit with various limited successes for almost 3 years when I tried the Chantix. Everybody is different, though. IMHO a 22% success rate isn't really that impressive EXCEPT that this is nicoteine!.

Seth just taking care of yourself is a big deal! Making changes in yourself to please somebody else is really futile - - but to do it for yourself is really the best reason! I'm happy for you.

There is nothing wrong with complaining about gas prices. But this isn't the thread for it. Start your own thread and I could even chime in there with ya. But some of our members won't be able to take a hot shower after slugging away in the heat and humidity cleaning up around what's left of their properties, and some of "us" act like we don't give a royal flush! Some of us weren't thought the fright of such a large hurricane, still have our power to run air conditionders.....can take hot showers - - after dark even - - and then sit in our air conditioned living rooms with a nice cold beer! There is a time and a place.......that's all I'm sayin'.

Good for you! It's a very hard thing you've accomplished.

I feel the same way Excathy. I know that since that day, I have never really felt safe - there is no real safety - - and maybe we were crazy to have ever thought there was in the first place.

Maybe we should relate where we were and what we were doing. I was teaching a group of Catholic high school girls when the television was turned on (the main office could control this) and an announcement from the Principal stated that there was an apparant attack and a plane struck one of the towers. We all saw the second tower get hit. My thoughts and prayers are also with Hills-Bro and his family on behalf of his nephew Brett Baily.

I was just going to suggest cross stitching. Counted cross stitching and some Hardanger is a wonderful destressor for me. When I worked in that "school from hell" I found that it was sometimes a difficult pattern with many color changes was sometimes helpful because it "forced" me to concentrate on the pattern, therefore leaving my cares and woes. Sometimes, a simple pattern, where the needle just stitched was the thing to do. The rhythm of the stitching was soothing and it didn't take very long before I felt normal again. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. My favorite, if you can get it, was a roll with honey. Don't leave home without it!

I don't like the look of this. Looks like Katrina meets Miami - - sorta

Chas - you're right. You're right about everything. I know that the hydrocarbons were/are used because they were easy to get and cheap. We live in a different time now, so we should be exploring different things. And with the economy being so tight, it's like living, or, rather, trying to live with your body being in a paper bag and you can't see anything, and you can't punch your way out of it. I am glad to see that so many are looking into so many solutions. That's a good sign. I even find myself wondering sometimes if we shouldn't reconsider nuclear power as a means of producing abundant electrical energy.....or....at least revisiting the issue.

I believe that oil is much to precious to burn in any form. We can't get any more than what's in the earth now (yes we may find more). If you don't agree I'd like to challenge you to google "petrochemicals" and judge for yourselves. We all can't or shouldn't try to use the same resources because we don't all don't have them. Some of us can use wind, some solar, some geothermal, some this and some that. Use a combination. We have the technology - just not the desire. We'd better get the desire 'cuz I don't want to be around when we have the last barrel of petroleum and somebody has to decide....what are we gonna do....make plastic heart valves??? or heat somebody's house for a few hours?

Thanks. Magnificent planet isn't it?

Holy cow you guys are fast. Hmmmm - lots to ponder here. If I switch to Thunderbird, can I import what I have or do I lose all of that? Also - I will explore the OE instructions, cman.

I never had problems with OE, but with this computer I suspect that OE was corrupted somehow. I cannot make more than one folder at a time before I have to close the program to make another. I'm thinking of reinstalling it, but that appears to be a whole lot of work...packing up what's there...booting the old one out...downloadind and installing the new one and then importing everything. Bah-Humbug! What's a better alternative please!
