My latest TC used to spend most of the week checking what was taught on SNS. And I mean checking.....as if he was grading a paper. Every greek word was researched, he even went so far as to check the interlinear. I'm sure there are things he may have missed because he was not thoroughly versed in "research principles" but he really wanted to make sure what they were putting out was right. I can't remember it now, but there were quite a few things we heard on the tape that never showed up again in our trachings.

Well done George!

When I tried to read some of the later posts in the About the Way in the "tongues shall cease thread" I'm greeted with a message that says I've asked for a post that is not on that topic or words to that effect. Would you please explain why? Thanks GT maybe we should call you " Mighty Great Technician" instead of greasy tech!

Mister P-Mosh I have no doubt that your children will have the best kind of father there is! You had an example of what NOT to do as well as an example of what you should be doing. I understand the difference between biological families and other kinds since both our children are adopted. There is no difference between how we love and take care of them than if we bore them from our own flesh!

geisha - - I also have some not so good memories. In fact some are really bad because nobody's perfect. Recently I've been learning to push those memories out and forget them. I can't do anything about any of that and remembering it just hurts my heart and I don't need that! I'm sure there is something pleasant to remember. Maybe you don't want to post it, But that's ok.

I guess I should start then, huh. My dad was very good with his hands. He could make, or fix anything. In the early - mid '50's my dad wanted a TV but we couldn't afford such a thing (like most folks). There were no discretionary monies either so he took his lunch to work to save what he needed to buy a Heath kit where he could build his own from the parts they'd give him. I will never forget that hot hot July afternoon in the bowels of Manhattan as we sat in the car waiting for dad to come out of the store. He came rushing out and asked my mom if she had her Christmas money with her (she usually did, because part of stretching the funds was being prepared for when there was a sale and my folks never had a credit card until they retired) Mom wasn't happy about that and dad promised to pay her back. He was so excited he could barely get the words out that if he could raise $10 he could get a 12" picture tube (and most people were watching 7" or 9". She handed over the money and soon we were on out way. Soon the card table was out and the pieces and the chassis were on it. My dad would do a part of the work and check off what he did at nite after dinner. Mom's job was to double check the next afternoon. It's amazing....but my grandfather who was a cabinet maker made the cabinet for it and when everything was done and all together dad plugged it it, turned it on and the thing worked and we had 5 channels of TV. That thing worked about 20 years as long a dad was around to change a resister or tube. He was a master sailor; he made and raced gasoline engine model airplanes and took us sledding on school nights up at Crocheron Park. Thanks Dad. I was lucky to have you as my dad.

Oh mstar, I've done that a time or two and there was no hole deep enough to swallow me up. Recently, however, I did find a new piece of magik and it worked like a charm. You rewind the tape. Just before you blurt out you mistakin words....cut the tape. Wind the tape reel back to any acceptable position and splice. I wish you luck with that.! ^_^

According to the Federal Family Medical Leave Act, his boss is not required to pay him. He is required to give him requested time for such things, take him back to his original position (or one nearly like it) and pay for his medical and/or dental benefits (if the company has such a plan) One would think that a week's pay wouldn't bankrupt the company, but an individual is allowed up to 12 weeks per calendar year. Many companies choose to pay nobody's wages under those circumstances so it may have been out of his boss's hands.

It seems there's a better way of collecting monies than shaking down the peons for their abs? Poor man! How do you suppose he explains why his gainful employment began in 2007? Do you think they'll believe it when he tells them he squealed on the mob and is in witness protection?

Most of those witnessing gigs were so contrived. People don't take to that well.

I'm pretty sure I have a few dust bunnies around!

Thanks for sharing parts of your life with us while you were here. Happy Trails!

What a shame, Waysider. There you and others were willing spirits...ready and eager to learn. Willing to put it all out on the line "for the cause" and all they thought to do was hammer you into the ground! I am amazed that you have the integrity you have now. How much effort did it take to continue to believe in yourself enough to rise above that serious pounding?! Is that what it all was for "leadership track"???? Dog eat dog! "I have to prove I'm better than you" which often is all that serious criticism and beating down accomplishes. I for one am glad you rose above that stuff.

I thought it was Auglaze county.

Won't it be interesting to meet Linder in person?

Would you please put salt on the rim of my glass?

I agree with everything written on this thread. They are in my prayers daily.

This is an old topic but I am just getting around to commenting on it. I spent hours last week looking for documentation of what I knew so you could follow it more easily but I can't find it.....probably because my knowledge is so old. In about 1981 I finished up some graduate course work in what was to me a new topic "ecology". It was a new course offering and we had a textbook called Modern Ecology (ha - - 1981 - "modern") by Eugene Odum and about a dozen "print offs" of papers which has recently been submitted to various journals on the topic of ecology. The U-Tube clip mentions "the fertility rate" and then says 2.11 is what is needed to maintain a culture for 25 years. 25 years was then, and I believe still is the general generation time for humans. The time from birth until the individual is able to begin his own family - - at least theoretically. In those days (late 70's early 80's) we were striving for Zero Population Growth. We never calculated the fertility rate, but we derived it from diagrams of populations. I cannot find one single diagram to show you what they were. The population profiles were as if a longitudinal slice was taken from a 3-D stack of wood. A cohort of all children born last year could be represented by a Popsicle stick. This year's cohort is glued on top of last years......and so on. Once you know all the rules, you can determine if the population is growing, or failing. Anything less than a bit more than replacing yourselves (hence 2.11) means the population is in decline. The fertility rate might change slightly from year to year but not greatly. When you saw fertility rates of 1.3, 1.9 etc that indicated that the population was in decline. We derived them, and nearly all European countries at that time were approaching zero population growth except the Scandinavian countries who had broken that barrier. Mexico at that time had the greatest fertility rate....it was 13! I do know that Islam is the fastest growing religion, so unless we are very careful and very shrewd we could be in serious trouble unless He comes back very fast!

I don't think there is a statute of limitations on IRS fraud.

May I tell you how debonair and totally dashing you look in your graduation cap. You worked long and hard for it so enjoy every minute!!!
