Methinks Eliabeth Gilbert hast a spark of the divine for such wisdom so wonderfully imparted can come no other way. [but that's just me]

This proves it! Waysider is a genius.

WOW! Kids are the best thing that can happen to you and the Mrs. Enjoy them!!

I had no idea this was really happening. My stomach was churning as I flipped through that website. There is no person's name which was recognized by me ( oops there was one....a student) It's the same old same old. The stuff that was plagiarized for plaf ....is rearranged again. I don't want to turn melodramatic, but you have no idea how close to tears I am seeing this happen again!

<Bump> Does anyone have info on the AC '98? JT Here you go.

We're out. AND getting together. AND we're back in our right minds again (or close to it) I don't think we can understand why they'd slide back. From what I was told, they're not just going back to check things out....they are sticking. Maybe they're using it socially and "forgetting" about the previous spiritual stuff? Maybe they don't care about the entire organization being rotten at the top....their little group is ok? I was told it's beginning to feel like the old times.

WW that's not how I see this. Those people were sliding BACK into the wasteland....so the net numbers would be increasing (along with the abs). True this is only one small area where I used to live...but I'm sure it's not the only one where this phenomenon is (or has) occurred.

We were in a major shopping plaza and they recognized us. We (and they) were happy to see one another. The 4 of us were always good friends while we were in. We talked a while. They are still in.....and what we've been told about a kinder gentler organization seems to be true. They rattled off at least a dozen names of people we knew or at the very least knew of.....and these folks went back in the past year or so. Apparently there is no more Mark and Avoid. Out of curiosity I asked what they knew about the '98 Advanced Class fiasco and they said the young corp couple had no business disrupting the Advanced Class and so it was good that they were eventually found out and sent home. (They were never told that that couple was our kids) We were encouraged to go back (of course) and one of the reasons is that at the October anniversary, we could get a plaque recognizing our previous 20 years. All we had to do was call the limb coordinator and "voila". It was nearly impossible for me to keep the contents of my stomach where it belonged. After we said goodbye and went on our way.....I started crying, not huge sobs....but a huge sadness that these folks would slide back into this really slimy group. I guess it's easier than thinking for yourself, and the comfort of the '70's and early 80's was a soft comfy cocoon (at least in one's memory). We may have a whole lot of work to do to try to pry this group loose, although it may be futile.

It was a week night in the summer. I think it was close to ROA so I'm guessing (just a guess) he was teaching or something at Corp Week (1978)

I was teaching in a Catholic HS (all girls) and suddenly the TV was on and the Principal announced what happened and we watched. It took a little while for us to come up to speed with what was happening. One or two of them saw the second plane approach and let out a muffled "oh no" or words to that effect. We were all shook, but as teachers, we all tended to think alike. Although the school rules dictated no cell phones, the girls always carried them turned off in their back packs. Two of us teachers merged out classes together to free one of us to stand by the outside door where the girls could make their important phone calls. "Where's Dad or Mom". None of the upper Administration who were walking the halls chastised us for how we handled the important call situation...so we continued and some of us teachers even loaned out our cell phone to girls who didn't have them. We lost 7 parents or uncles that day...but we didn't know it at the time. Because where most of the girls lived, many of them also knew "Jeremy" of the PA plane crash and that was difficult to deal with too. On my way home I could see the smoke from the buildings because I live so close. After about a week we could smell it too if the wind was right (actually wrong!) Because many of us were used to seeing the skyline with the towers, and all we saw was smoke....and because everybody knew somebody who perished that day....it took a while until most of us settled down. With so many constant reminders, it was almost impossible to move forward. Of course I also think of Hills Bros who lost his nephew Brett when one of the towers fell.

I'm embarrassed at how you were (not) welcomed back! We don't have to slobber over one another, but surely we could treat each other a little better than that! Well papertrained, there are many reasons why many of us are still here . We keep getting newcomers looking for information. Sometimes, even if we're tired of it, we have to answer some of the same questions. Some of us are still here as a warning. Now that lots of people are familiar with the Internet, we want to keep these pages here and vital, so that if somebody hears about "The Way Inc" and wants to do some investigation, they'll find the truth. Sometimes some come just to discuss certain issues with other "friends". I hope that makes some sense to you. Maybe you'll stick around for a day or so and discover that this isn't really the same as it was two or three years ago. It's not totally different, but different enough.

that was even more disgusting!!!

my my, bolchevik.....don't know where my head was. Nobody's allowed in the stadium for their own protection, but selling the fat for soap is a good idea, and also the bones and teeth for souvenirs. We could use remote controlled cameras and charge for seats in a sports bar with HDTV and also we could charge $2 for earbuds for those who'd enjoy hearing the screaming of the victims and the chewing of the ants "up close and personal" Thanks for your ideas, they'll help in the greening of the stadium afterwards. May we have some volunteers to wash the victim's clothing in preparation for the Salvation Army and/or other charititable organizations? We could also cut back the honey from 1 in to 1/2 inch, and 500 ants per victim would do the same job.....just take a lot longer.....but there is the benefit of making the punishing pain last that much longer.
-
I wonder if it is some kind of gang initiation? Punishment?? I don't think there is a way to get rid of gangs unless you can round them all up and put them all in one of the older sports stadiums, lock the doors from the outside and let them fight it out together until the last one is dead.....and let him die of starvation. Alternately, I would take each participant and strip them totally naked and then stake them spread-eagle on the ground. Cover with about 1 inch of honey and drop about 1000 red ants on them.
-
That couldn't happen too soon for me! There's been so many lies, and so much hurt. I know that if the plug was pulled on that organization and all of it's facsimiles all the hurt and lies won't leave the planet.....but at least they won't be the source of any more.

I used to use the Upper Room. I can't recall if it was subscription or how I got my hands on it. One day, it just wasn't there any more and I was really busy and never followed up. I really did enjoy it though.

It's not all bad. I would not trade my cable company for anything. When the make an appointment for between 10 and 2 on a certain day they are there ready to solve the problem usually by 11. They have a program to control my computer from their offices to set up DNS numbers and other things that they can do a lot faster than I can when they explain it to me. When they give me instructions for resetting the cable box after it's power was interrupted...they stay on the line and ask me what the screen shows now, just to make sure the right sequence is happening. One time it didn't and they had me back out and try again. I've had the usual defunctarroonios. (?) etc....but I have never spoken to a customer service rep who didn't know the answer to my problem......OR how to find the answer. Besides that, English is their native language.
-
Do you think that might have worked on the person on the other side of the phone with the very distinctive eastern accent?
-
I once needed customer service on an IBM computer I owned. I finally was connected to a voice with a distinctive far Eastern accent which is familiar to all of us. He wanted me to take the machine apart.....and I fell into the trap and started to do it. Then I realized what a horror show I could be into and put it all back together hung up the phone and tried again. This time I had a different but still distinctive voice. He said....we'll do one thing at a time, ok? That was just my speed. I did a few things he a asked.....then he told me to format my C drive. This was an old computer. The program disk went in drive A, the data disk went in drive B, but C was the main gizmo. I knew enough to not do that and I told him so. Then he said I could do as I liked, but if I didn't want to do what the expert suggested I was being very foolish. ahem

Why don't we have such good humor like that anymore?????

I absolutely loved that show. I liked Mork and Mindy too. [different time frame]
