  1. Regarding kinder and gentler these are terms I used when I started a different thread a few weeks ago. At the present time, it seems that twi is both. I ran into a friend I had "back in the day" and she told me that many folks are returning because of the kinder gentler attitude. There is at present some kind of certificate program whereas for longevity, the individuals are rewarded with a certificate of recognition at the Anniversary weekend. She told me that all those folks who have gone back have gotten appropriate certificates even though they left for a time. "All I have to do is call the Limb leader and I'm in like flynn" In my case, I think it's more likely they would locate me with an unmanned drone of some sort and drop a good sized bomb on me.... They don't hound you about regular attendance. There are a number of things which are eased up. This is at the present time in my location. I'm specifying this because I don't want somebody held to a standard which just did not exist at their time. Fair is Fair, after all. I know of no other time when there was anything like this.....kinder and gentler.

    The Flu

I'm glad you added the water, RumRunner. I forgot it. While it is very good to be careful, limiting time in very crowded places, wiping down such things as telephones, keyboards and doorhandles frequently.......there is no reason to panic. There is a balance between prudence and panic. Stick to the prudence side of the aisle.
  3. Thanks - all of you - for the instruction! I definitely will review the lessons.
  4. Have a most happenin' day!

    The Flu

Here are some ways to prevent it: Wash your hands often. Use warm-hot water and soap. Wash carefully - recite the alphabet...that's long enough. Resist every impulse to touch your face unless you're eating, or washing. Gargle with warm salt water twice per day. Salt will destroy the virus. Drink as much of any warm beverage as you can handle. Coffee or tea (including herb tea). Swallowing the beverage washes the virus particles into your stomach where normal digestive processes destroy it. If you can internalize and master this schedule, it's likely you will prevent most communicable diseases from sticking to you. Eat very well. Meat should be eaten in small portions. Most dietitians recommend a portion no larger than a deck of cards (3-D). Eat as much of the dark colored vegetables and fruits as you can, when possible, some of them raw. Fish is a wonderful food. Regular vigorous exercise is also necessary. Just as we are all different, we may need to adjust ourselves in other ways too. If you don't want the vaccine or can't get the vaccine this is your best bet to stay healthy.
  6. Research Geek has given you God's perspective on things. He has laid out for you a path to healing. Do not confuse his words with what you remember being force-fed in twi. They are not the same. Unless you can separate them, you will be running in circles and wallowing in bitterness the rest of your life. Swallow your pride and listen to him. Not everything we were taught was a lie. Not everything was wrong. Yes, much was. But much is also perfectly and correctly the Word of God which does, indeed apply to you. It is easy to mock, or throw brash words around. When I see that happening, I know you are hurting. In my mind's eye I see you twirling and flailing in circles being unable to pick a spot to sit down and rest. Well......find a place and just stop for a moment. Take a few slow breaths. Read his words again slowly and expect to see what God wants you to see. It's not easy, but I know it's possible.
  7. Groucho you have touched on one of the things that truly fries my liver. I have seen a few of the genuine pastors whose passion was to teach and guide their congregations in any and all ways needed to the best of their ability. Those on TV can get away with their nonsense because nobody knows enough about them personally. Do you want to know what a man thinks of God hang out with him for a while. I'll have to make an effort this weekend and watch one or two of the "preachers" and see what they're preaching nowadays. I'll have to watch on an empty stomach, though....I'd like to minimize the sickness.

Mstar is correct, there are many story lines going on. Don't forget there was a young woman who was on loan to Gibb's team.....and when she was finished with the job she got a text that said "do they suspect? and she said "no" .I forgot her name but she was short with dark hair and a relatively round face.

AAahhhhhhhh Ziva is good to go. A brand new "probie".
  14. I remember them saying that you don't get to the top without spirit.
  15. Soon after JCOPS we were plenty used to Septa 11 being Jesus birthday. Oh yes we did...in case you 've jumped ahead of me in your thinking. We made ornaments - some were just decoration, and some were food for birds etc. And we hung them on an evergreen tree at the branch leader's home. Then we sang some properly worded HO-HO songs.

I agree with both of you. It has been on my Very Favorite list for quite some time. And don't you just love that music!?
  17. holy cow....so much work to make things look nice. I wonder how clean the carpet actually is down deep when so much effort is spent in the upper fibers. [sigh]
  18. As far as building or sharpening critical thinking skills, put yourself in a position where you learn something new to you. Puzzles of various types are also helpful.
  19. [how does one make a chequered pattern?]
  20. This may sound corny.....if so....you feel free to find something more pleasant; something you like better. As a child, I remember we were taught in Sunday School to remember certain things....some of them were Scripture (in school even) and in junior high...some Creed or other...it could have been the Nicene creed but I can't remember now....and if I go look it up I'll lose my train of thought. It goes something like "I know that God is my Heavenly Father without whose knowledge not even a hair can fall from my head. And.....I went to school long enough ago that we were actually taught some scripture....from the Psalms...esp 100 and the 23 in side a Public School. Around the time that I left, things from the organization began to roil up within me, and I knew it was wrong, or at least suspected that what I was seeing was not "of God". I had an excellent example of Godly behavior and thought in my church's Minister when I was a child growing up. It is amazing how those things stay with you. I was very fortunate to have this family teach me. This was long ago in the 50's when life was very different and people in general were decent human beings. When I finally sprung myself and my family out.....the first few hours I clung to prayer. Literally I prayed for safety nonstop for a few hours. Although I really didn't believe in this "God won't spit in your direction" business and nobody can live outside the household.....was so ingrained in my soul, that even-though I didn't really believe it....part of my brain said what if it is true?????? It didn't take very long, maybe a day or 2, until I realized that we were probably going to live through this and the adrenaline fell to normal levels. In our society, in order to remain living, there's the dishwasher to empty, the bathroom to clean. Somebody has to do the shopping and push the vacuum . Well you get the idea. While my body was moving, my mind just kept reciting all these things and I thought of every phrase as I was saying it to myself . We left the last weekend in March and before we knew it, it was the 4th of July, and we had made it 3 months. I figured if we survived that long, God was probably not going to send the raving dogs after us. But that is only the beginning. It took Waydale at first to show me what was really happening, and then this place where I could start getting my head on straight. I'm gonna hang around here because I have some real true friends whom I can copy on my route towards becoming whole again.
  21. Twi has many ways to rape its members, doesn't it. They are like Pirates....rape, pillage and plunder! They have it down to a science!
  22. Awwwww Waysider what fun is learning sumpthin' if'n ya can't use it????
  23. You can't give someone particularly close to you (as a beloved friend for example)...you cannot give that person a gift, lest it be considered a bribe. The only exceptions may be immediate family, brother, sister, parent, child. And there must be sufficient reason for said gift such as birthday, anniversary, significant achievement (graduation) or birth of a child.
  24. no! The anniversary is always the first weekend in October to celebrate the beginning of the ministry. I think it was the first presentation of music at the Chimes hour on some radio station. It was Oct 4, 1942. I'm a little shaky on details, perhaps somebody can add some additional facts.
