A Harley biker is riding by the zoo in Washington, DC when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents. The biker jumps off his Harley, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on his nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain, the lion jumps back, letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents who thank him endlessly. A reporter has watched the whole event. Addressing the Harley rider, he says, "Sir, that was the most gallant and brave thing I've seen in my whole life." The Harley rider replies, "Why, it was nothing, really. The lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger and acted as I felt right." The reporter says, "I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed. I'm a journalist, you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page. So what do you do for a living?" The biker replies, "I'm a U.S. Marine and a Republican." The journalist leaves. The following morning, the biker buys the paper to see if it does indeed brings news of his actions, and reads on the front page: _____________________________________________________ US MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH ____________________________________________________ That pretty much sums up the media's approach to the news these days.

I'm also so sorry you have to put up with this bovine excretion from on high! Lately they've changed their thinking. It used to be that the Bible was worshiped because it took the place of the absent Christ. In their lives Christ was considered as absent. Now it seems that they've elevated the organization above that....making twi take pre-eminence in their lives. It is as if they are standing inside a fence, thumbs in their ears and fingers waving while they sing-song....we told you so.....etc. They are the ones who are truly sick! And I'm not being sarcastic. The only hope for them is if they turn around and learn once again to worship God and Him alone. I believe your youngest will be healed just as you say, a simple solution. I think you are one of the strongest women I know. With everything you have on your mind....and then this piece of ugliness.....you have already risen above it. Your mind is sound and your spirit is meek. We all know they look for examples of people who walked away and suffered various ills. The idea of quitting smoking then flushing your system with water to "prove" you don't smoke will not work. How do I know? I have a lot of contact with people who are trying to acquire organ transplants. That doesn't work! There are metabolites of nicoteine that slowly break down in the body over a period of 4 month or maybe more depending on how much you smoke(ed) and what you smoked and the # of year you imbibed. If they test you, and you say you've quit, you'd better be really quit...other wise you lied on your application...bye bye......... I smoked a long time. I Smoked lots and lots for a long time. I finally did quit (Chantix) I do understand why companies want non-smokers and it does have to do with insurance. Not only the rates they have to pay, but also further on down the line they could be rated as a group and found very expensive (too many smokers might do this) and so some say....so what - - it's their (the company's) problem. So guess what....the company drops insurance benefits...now....those that quit smoking, or those who never smoked have no insurance because a few of you guys didn't smoke on company premises.....but in your own personal lives....and it had the effect of rasising their rates. Maybe a segregated society will form....smokers and non-smokers (just kidding -- - or am I?)

Dreams appear to be absolutely necessary for our mental as well as physical health. Experiments done on cats showed that if they were allowed to sleep, but not allowed REM sleep where dreaming occurs, they became insane. How do you know when a cat is insane??? They became gradually more and more wild and nasty in their behavior to the point that they could not be handled or controlled. Eventually they had to be put down.

I think you're correct in the usage of that word. The only other way to write the sentence which would give the same sense woujld be...."I, also, was around during that time period....." Now look at us.....we're trying to be sure we have the correct placement......of a word......have we been bewitched?

The people who work there - - they have to be there at a certain time in the morning....and can't leave before a certain time in the afternoon/evening. What do they do with there time there. You may say - - answer phones.....who calls???? Write a magazine......is Feb's really that different from Jan? I would think it would be the worst job in the world being bored to death during your work day while living on a need basis so you could go bowling maybe once every 2 months. I guess they need a certain number to keep up housekeeping and grounds keeping. [and we all know what Mr. Linder does.] But what else is there? Maybe they just sit at their desks and read ebooks....and use the boss key (alt-tab) when somebody comes around. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I remember it! I don't think I could do some of the exercises mentioned (touch my toes 10X), but it might be a good alternative to some of the other exercise videos out there.

Two people who were once in the same cult but now are out of that cult may get along very well because they may have very many things in common. They are against the same things....and for the same things. You said you only had one pair to look at, but that's because you've only been here since April of '09 - -or at least that's what your profile says. I know of at least 3 couples who've come from these forums (perhaps Waydale too which came before this one). They are fine, these couples, and as far as can be understood from what they post they are completely normal.

That's an excellent question RumRunner. I wonder why it's taken this long for that question to present itself! [unless it did and I wasn't paying attention] I know that VF seemed to stay in New York State and also Long Island. I never had any dealings with the man himself, but when my sister-in-law died, he sent about 6 "heavies" to observe and report. I think you all know that we live in NJ but that part of the family lived on Long Island in New York. Shortly before this time,there was a rift brewing....nobody left, per se, but 2 groups formed and we did not go with that group and the rest of the family did. I have a feeling that they were somehow absorbed into CG's outfit but that is more of an impression than actual facts that I have. I'll never forget those few days for the coldness displayed by these guys. I was told that at least one was ordained but you couldn't prove it by anybody's actions. No funerals are pleasant, but that should be a time of great loving tenderness to the bereaved but there was none of that there from them.VF had just finished putting together a class called "The Hope".

Of course you are correct, Rumrunner. However, the coincidence of such historically famous men sharing the same day and date of birth I find fascinating. It may be, that some time in the future, some born today may out-shine anyone born to date. You used the term "worth". I'm sorry if I gave the impression that Lincoln and Darwin were "worth more" than other men, because I don't think that's true. I try to avoid using the term "worth" when it comes to things like this. IMHO a man's "worth" is defined by his integrity, how he treats his wife and family, and friends, of course - - and also perhaps his relationship with his God. Shame on me for using the term "special"....because it's only in their historical contributions that they are so.

Tomorrow is the National Wear Red Day to remind women to pay attention to themselves and their #1 killer heart disease. Maybe you've heard it before, but, I'm going to state it again, many women who have heart attacks do not report the classic symptoms that men report....crushing chest pain, pain down the left arm or radiating to the jaw. Many Women report almost no symptoms, or symptoms of relative significance that they easily write them off. Wear red tomorrow. Guys too. Wear something red to remind the women in your general "sphere of influence" how much they mean to you and that you want them to take care of themselves. Ladies....we should know our numbers -(cholesterol, other lipids, sugars, weight etc) and make every effort to normalize them. We should exercise deliberately at least 3 times per week. Quit smoking. A large % of men survive a first heart attack, but that is not so for women. The first heart attack many women have they'll never even know about because it kills them. Please wear something red tomorrow.
