We all need to step back and think about why this forum exists. The Owner/Operator of this forum keeps it open in spite of the aggravation he gets because he believes along with us that we still need to keep it open to provide as accurate a glimpse of twi as possible. We want and need (I believe) a place where we can demonstrate to anyone who wants to know just how evil they are….AND also let anybody who may want to get out of it….that there is, indeed life after twi, and that God will not sneak in in the middle of the night and slay them for “abandoning” what they have erroneously been taught as THE TRUTH. God will not abandon them, and the debbbil won’t get them. Now please consider “Respect” for the forums, and Pawtucket and each other in that light. All of these forums from the “Pictures” to the “Prayers” to the “Doctrine” and the “Politics/light and heavy” serve that aim, (of demonstrating that we didn’t get picked off by the debbbil) and keep us talking among ourselves, something that most of us enjoy. So – NOW - - the individual skirmishes that occur from time to time will happen anywhere, in any “public” place over enough time with enough “members”. Look over in the “About the Way” forum and read all about the present trial over ABS. It serves as an example that the organization is still pulling the wool over it’s followers eyes and is, up until now, getting away with it. I guess that means, we, as a collective membership haven’t totally succeeded in stopping their errant ways (neither do I expect we ever will, totally – as long as they exist) So….when posters come along who don’t comply with the simple rules of r-e-s-p-e-c-t they either learn them…or somebody cajoles them into abiding by them. Some do better than others…but there is only 1 that I know of who refuses to do that. I speak only for myself, and you are free to disagree, however, this one continually starts trouble or perpetuates it…cries “persecution”, name calls, and every other such thing. He gets himself banned from the Political Forum, so he starts political trouble over here so he can continue his shenanigans. And we keep trying to “silence” him, but only seem to get drawn into the fracas. Don’t you think it’s time his plug got pulled and his IP address blocked from this entire site? When is “enough” really enough? IMHO is believe it’s now! krys

I was just thinking of how and why I began to wonder about the organization but when I read this I remembered something. I'll relate it as briefly as possible here, but please remember that we were given partial instructions over the course of several weeks. Our twig was going to host a wine and cheese party. Keep in mind that I knew that alcohol was never served at twi functions that were open to the public...and rarely at our own functions. We were just having a party....no witnessing involved...just a party. I overheard a couple of big time "class closers" talking about circulating at our function to get a certain number signed up for the new lcm class. We had been told to bring a certain # of names of friends and coworkers with their addys and phone nos....and given invitations to fill out and mail....we were luring them to a place where a few glasses of wine might (or maybe not...depends on the person) let down their guard....and whammo...somebody got "signed". Once "signed" you almost never got away....and we had no idea. I never said thing about what I suspected after I heard what I overheard because I was a coward. But it started the ball rolling in my thinking of what I was really doing with my life.

I would respectfully suggest that he not start threads which only simmer and broil more adversity which always (predictably?) seem to end like this!

Laleo said something I've been trying to get said in some way for a while...but my faculties sometimes don't want to cooperate with each other sometimes. Remember "piffle"? -"everybody's got a doctrine"? I think we're often like that, but our basic doctrine is that we come here to Pawtucket's glorious cafe, which he keeps open at his own expense...(and we cannot even bring an occaisional can of coffee to contribute)...and then, we seem to let some folks beat the krapp out of him verbally (in public and in private)and we never say a freaking word!!! He never ask us to do a thing except stick to the rules....and this is what happens, or so it seems, as a result. I think that sucks, in plain English........
-
Zixar - it appears that nobody wants to go on record or doesn't understand it. I'll jump in and add my 2 cents though, I think Pawtucket deserves an apology. I realize this is gonna keep this thread going in perpetuity, and there will be more arguements, but, I do agree.

Maybe she's become such a practiced liar that she doesn't even remember the truth anymore!?

Let's give everyone who wants to "get married" a licence for Civil Union only. No matter what gender they are or aren't. Let them live as spouses for a while. IF they have maintained a monagomous, functional unit for, perhaps 10 years.....THEN let them get married....regardless of gender. I really don't think "youngsters from 18 - 23 or so) really have any idea what marriage really is! My statement is not only an attempt to lighten up (needed for me...maybe not for you). Given the divorce rate today....this may work out. Let the spouses share health and legal benefits for that time. If the couples, regardless of gender, survive and are willing to remain so for life...then let them be "married".

In and of itself, a quick flick with a wooden spoon probably does no harm to a toddler. Think about it....they've got a diaper on! The most they should feel is a quick short mild sting. If you're hitting harder than that, that's wrong ... especially if you do it repeatedly and in anger. I remember being told "it's to get their attention". So if that's what your end result is...I personally don't think that will harm a toddler (around 18 mos - 2 1/2 or 3 yrs depending on the child's language skills) The main problem I see is that everything got a huge wack...or more than one...and it was done all day long...everything the child did that wasn't what the parents considered "right" got a whacking as a result. AND when the youngster behaved properly there was no warm praise! The parents were using the spoon instead of investing any of their own time and energy in thinking things through to prevent or correct a problem. I remember hearing "Discipline is something you do FOR a child, punishment is something you do TO a child." The "rod" of correction should change as the child gets older (no - not to a steel strap!). But that's not what they did. They basically used the spoon so hard and so long that by the time these youngsters were around 4 or 5 or so...I'm surprised the children attempted any new thing...after all...they were already beaten into submission. That, was disgraceful!

I want all my "ABS" back, with interest please.

Societies change. Perhaps this is a good thing - this ammendment. We in this country think that we can be and do absolutely anything we want and that is the not the case. Maybe it's the land of opportunity, but it's not the opportunity for anarchy! The ammendment will test the nations sentiments on each side now. If this idea of same sex marriage was presented even 50 years ago, most likely it would have been discussed behind doors if at all. This would be a good test for the standards we as a nation want to uphold (well the best test we can provide at the moment) and once it is National Law, every state has the same standard.

Somehow, I don't see Mel Gibson spending $25 million of his own money and hiring folks who aren't tip-top stars for the major parts in order to teach the Muslems a lesson about Christ's suffering! I've watched many interviews and several reviews and I'm convinced that he is making this film out of his own personal convictions as best he can. He's stated that he has staked his career on this so I really don't believe he has an ulterior motive of any kind.. *NB - I heard Walter Cummins say once that the ultimate end of all Biblical research should be "worship" [or words to that effect - the quote is not exact] and that makes perfect sense to me.

Thanks mj............. Rocky - I was using "Robert's Rules" - - for debate/meetings [kind of a loose definition for this thread] in asking for the clarification of the question! I was just being goofy at this hour on a Friday nite!
-
MJ I'mnot sure that's the question I asked. I'm unclear in my own mind, so I will think about it some more and try again. I was thinking in general terms...all the states. By the way, the President is gonna need a whole lotta help in ammending the Constitution! That's going to take a whole lot of states ratifying it. My memory isn't what it used to be anymore...is it 2/3??? or 3/4???.
-
I'm using Robert's Rules here...I think they apply: Do I remember it wrong??? or is it correct that the States can make any rules they like so long as what they legislate is not "forbidden" by the Fed. Gov? Frankly some of this stuff fries my brain so I could be totally wrong, so correct me if I am. But if that is correct....the marriages would be valid in NM. [oh please prove me wrong]

Maybe you're right, dmiller. All I really know for sure is that someday we will all stand before the throne. What's really most important to me is that I know I did the best I knew how.

What you see here is only the remnant of what was once a grand and flourishing empire full of runs to the mark and a Neander love story....and a drunken "god". It was also, when you read between the lines, the history of our healing from the organization and a parody of same. [although it didn't start out that way] I guess it's fair to say... "you had to be there".

God does look on the heart. But - He is also just. I can't substantiate this with any Scripture, but it makes sense to me: If we consider our spiritual development as we would progress in school.....we would expect more of those in 5th grade from those in kindergarten. And more of HS seniors than freshmen. Remember the parable of the talents? The steward were judged by what they did with what they had.

Happy Brithday, Wackster! Envoy every minute!

Once again - they avoided Jesus, the Christ - and were able to get us to focus on their words, rather than God's.
-
One could say that the center of His Word is Jesus Christ.

Oh - Wonderful THE! I came just to wish you a Happy Valentine's Day...may all your chocolate hearts be full of Guiness!

I might have. I was pretty well brain washed and loyal. I'd like to think I would have drawn the line somewhere....but I could possibly have been persuaded.

The Bible teaches "the workman is worthy of his hire" - - but they paid those who worked for them so little! Surely it was not what they were worth for a someatimes 60 hour workweek!
-
I think it is a great idea! Circumstances prevent me from making a promise to see it that particular evening, but I will if I can. Do you think we should "Private Topic" it in order not to spoil it for those who haven't seen it at that time?

That's ludicrous! I'm not saying this to be mean spirited...but if one is in a nursing home as an Altzheimer's patient...I highly doubt they could be aware of something like this. Even if she was "guilty as charged" if you tried to make her aware of this, the only benefit would be that you might get it off your chest. It's not likely that you will get through to her, or that she could process an answer of any kind..let alone one that is satisfactory. Maybe I should clarify something else: I read the poll as a question of contribution. In my mind...I cannot hold her responsible for anything in her present state...and I can't go back in time either. My affiliation with the organization was from '78 - '98 and I suspect that the majority of those who strongly agree that she was as culpable as vp are probably much younger than I and also were a part of the organization at a later time. That is the sense I've gotten from reading various threads on this topic as they've been written before. I stand by my statement about searching the archives. There is a wealth of discussion on the general topic of Mrs. Weirwille's participation and some of it is written by folks who don't post here any more...for whatever reason. Because they knew her up close and personal, I put a high value on their words. After you've gotten a general background...post away.
