I find their songs so real. "Me and Julio Down in the Schoolyard" - "Bookends". Well - for me - so many of them evoke very real and very strong memories of people I know (or knew) and situations I was in... it's something folks of "our" generation can relate too. They're clean songs - I dom't think I can remember a single amoral line from any of them (but I am getting older) and they invoke no political innuendos - and they have such a gift for harmony and verse. I guess you could say they are true barbs. I didn't get to be at any of the concerts, perhaps next time!~ (?)

Counting all I spent at the bookstore, classes, specials and books etc I'm sure it was $100,000 or more given the fact that I was in over 20 years. Not bad for an underpaid teacher! And I'd like a check too!

That's the whole curriculum for the year? What a great way to scare the life out of 6th graders...but at least they named the goddess they worship!

Zixar that can work the other way too - to a school' detriment. When I taught in NJ - when they first instituted the State-Wide uniform test for high school graduation....the school I taught in had pittiful passing percents. However...it was an inner city school which had a large number of transient students. I would routinely check in and out between 10 - 20 students over the course of a year. Additionally, about a third of the students were not able to speak English, by virue of recently entering the country. At first...ALL students of a particular grade in a school were lumped together and we had passing grades in the low 40% which brought down all kinds of havoc on teachers and board members. Suburban schools never had this problem, so it made inner city teachers look like retards! Finally, the State allowed the scores to be separated according to native English speaking and ESL students...and the first year that was done, the English speaking students who passed jumped to 73%. Now that is not a huge number...not acceptable to me, for example...but it just shows how one counts the numbers is very important in these matters.

I can't speak for Zshot - but I don't think we (all of us here on this thread) are talking about the same thing. When you take the anger and do something productive with it - to combat the source of the anger...that's not "anger issues"... that's a sign of good mental health. When "I" speak of anger issues, I mean someone who lives under the infuence of anger all the time who doesn't have a healthy means of dealing with it. The anger pervades every aspect of their lives. In a sense, I guess you could say it controls them. Such a person could easily be a wife beater, for example. Some people who consistently commit hate crimes might be another. Certainly some of the Korpse-Nazzis who screamed at us all the time over nothing - might have some anger issues too. I'm the last one to try to control anyone but since we all (or nearly all) once were under twi influence...I consider us brothers of a sort...and I care about people here.

I've noticed some of the activites around here lately have been much more heated than normal - but I haven't had much time to read and take part in these kinds of threads. Too much of my energy's gone to taking care of stuff from the accident and trying to get my body back to where I can depend on it's usefulness. I say this to let you know I have no idea who Zshot may have in mind. But - I know that Zshot's suggestion is excellent advice! Not just anger...but any negative emotion issues should be dealt with because if left alone, they can cause physical illness, or make an existing condition worse. All the emotions we experience cause the release of hormones...and hormones turn on certain organs and turn off others. Ordinary day to day things won't result in illness because everything balances everything else out. But negative emotions eventually take their toll on one's physical health. We usually tend to our physical bodies...we should pay just as much attention to our mental health.

If I had 50 emails telling me I'm too harsh.....and 50 telling me I'm too lienient (sp?)I think I'd be happy as a clam.....I'm right in the middle.....taking the middle of the road. What as wonderful way to live....always changing the atmosphere we're in and leaving it lighter, more peaceful than before! One never knows where this healing will lead us - and we may not ever know the healing effect it has on those around us who may just be passing by. Thanks Todd

I use Cablevision - I'm not so sure we'll get an upgrade soon - this only went into operation about 8 or 9 months ago! Bye the Bye - After using Firefox for a few days - I notice a definite increase in sped - especially in some of the very large web sites. I doubt that is due to all the adblocking - 'cause I have an adware blocker - but it is faster on GS too sometimes.

I'm truly sorry for the choo choo zix - I just couldn't resist. Here are my thoughts: GreaseSpot changes. It does go through cycles - but it changes too - especially the Open Forum. I suppose that's where most folks - especially those new here first feel comfortable. More people get involved with the Internet every day - and technology advances every day [i'm specifically thinking of the statement Paw posted to Cnapp that perhaps he should change his password - I doubt that was said to placate him or "in jest". Do you remember the day the Political Forum began? It was shortly after 9/11/2001 and after the horror and shock abated some - we were discussing items of security and other nations political views. It took up so much room - that Paw opened a separate forum for that - and look how that forum has changed and evolved. Almost nothing there is related to it's origins. Pawtucket is a technology geek and he keeps his eyes open for better stuff - he always has - not just now. I remember why these forums are here too. We play on them..share pictures...music---explore doctrine etc. But it originated as a lifeboat for those seeking a way out of twi. It's taken on another function of warning folks about it (twi) I hope that will always be a part of G'Spot...a big part. The biggest single function of this Cafe is the healing it promotes among those who were broken by the organization and others who need to heal from other organizations. I'm more comefortable now about G'Spot than I was 12 hours ago - but I never considered that it would ever fold - until it's purpose no longer exists, perhaps, and I'm not sure that would cause it to fold.

Sirguessalot: I heartily agree with your post about one's faith. While I also subscribe to the ways of this "Jesus dude" :)--> , I know a few Budists, a number of Jews and even a few who practice Islam. Over the years I've even had "religious" discussions with them - and not one of them was threatened or offended. You're probably right about this. However this recent nastiness makes me wonder if somebody isn't deliberately trying to attack the GreaseSpot Cafe itself. I'm betting more folks that just the waygb would be happier if it didn't exist OR if it's presence and influence could be degraded - even the word "mitigated" comes to mind!

Sorry, Dave - I can't vote in this poll because I can't envision G'Spot as a train. If I could I'd probably pick "I think I can....." BUT that implies the possibility of failure. GreaseSpot is a huge success! I tend to think of G'Spot as a ship. Sometimes it's on smooth waters and clear skies and there's no wind....sometimes we're in a hurricane! But no matter what weather befalls us, We're still here and we're still afloat - and anybody who wants to can climb aboard. The only time I think this ship will sink is if and when Pawtucket pulls the plug on it and scuttles the ship!
