I thought I was dead on topic. I am bringing up the close tangential topic of GSC theatrics and histrionics. I'll stop the slight tangential de-rail, unless someone asks me politely to post an audio clip from the film class that says what I posted to correct faulty memories.

I am suggesting that because you don't regularly refresh your mind's memory with the originals, your memory of the originals is continually distorted by what you DO put regularly into your mind... which would be... ?

You left out the time limit of 3 months.

I think at some point many years ago, here, I made the suggestion that people come back to written PFAL, study nothing but those collaterals for 3 months, and see how it goes.

Memory is far more prone to those kinds of changes than are recording media.

Do you know any saints who are not sinners? My take on John's First Epistle is that we all are sinners, even when we have the "saint" status. My take on VPW's First Session is that we all commit the greatest sin, and often.

You got it wrong again. The only way that the law of believing can work for us is if God FIRST gives us a promise to believe and claim. In 1988 John Lynn was promoting a book called "The Seduction of Christianity" and how people can make up their own "promises from God" to believe and claim. This is akin to witchcraft, that book contends, and I agree. But John Lynn made the huge mistake of saying that the PFAL class promoted this. He was right in saying that some ministry leaders were teaching a bastardized version of the law of believing, but he was dead wrong about Dr teaching that in the class. Lynn visited San Diego with in 1988 with this lie about the class. I had received my first complete transcript of the class at that time and I spent the next year documenting the exact locations of NINETEEN places in the class where Dr plainly taught that we must line up our believing with the written promises of God. I showed those 19 places to Lynn when he returned to SD in 1989, and confronted him in his lie. He did not care. In the class we were taught to find the promise of God and claim it with believing. God controls what promises are written for us; we have no control there.

It's too bad you were not in my excellors sessions. I would have explained that God loves to play with His children, and He set the Acrostic Psalms as an example of how he likes to play with alliteration. SIT is our toy, and God loves playing the alphabet game with us as we SIT. It's not controlling God; it's playing with Daddy. Remember, the Father seeketh such to worship Him.

Why do you want me to go to that trouble, of fetching all that info? Are you going to minister to someone with it? Or are you just looking for "gotcha" fodder? Yes. I asked that question a dozen different ways in the 1970s. Why didn't you?

No. I saw PLENTY of people wrestle with their fears. Maybe the first time thru the class was not enough for some. I was amazed at what people did NOT hear in their first times thru. I dealt with this a lot in excellors sessions, and in private ministering. Overcoming fears was never promised to happen in ONE taking of the class. Many people needed a little more, so I volunteered and saw the process in great detail. I think the top leaders shied away from a lot of this brute service level activity. Too bad for them; they missed out.

Fear. I said so in my post above. In excellors sessions we used humor, laughter, and silliness to combat the fears people had. People can balk at certain unfamiliar sounds. God has given the utterance, but they clam up in fear,

I have helped many grads develop more fluency in their SIT. It is not difficult. The clues were given and distributed through the Intermediate Class excellors sessions. I saw great fluency developed when people would just relax their fears. In all my years at HQ and around VPW, I only heard him SIT once at a 10:30 meeting in the BRC. I was especially attentive to his fluency, and it was VERY fluent..... not at all like the few recorded lines in the film class. Uncle Harry and I were in the same twig in New Knoxville. He had plenty of fluency in SIT.

I pretty much answered that in the longer post I did above where I posted my version of 1 Cor 3. I like making clean texts I can read without the distraction of all my wide margin notes. These texts I can read for the flow of the message. I'm also enjoying the NIV for Old Testament stories. One of my favorite Epistles lately is Philippians. I had not known that Paul was released from that imprisonment until lately. Did you see my long post above? */*/*/*/* When I first started posting here in 2002 my reading was entirely out of the collaterals, and my only exposure to my KJV was through the verses that appear on those pages. I did that for 20 years, from 1998 to 2018. I figured that I had set the collaterals aside prematurely in the 1990s, when I concentrated my KJV a lot, and the New American Standard Bible. It was a good 20 years, and I did it in a fellowship where we all studied straight out of the collaterals together. So now I am back in Bible versions, including my own, and loving it. I still spend a lot of time in the collaterals, but now it's more for showing other grads what they forgot or never absorbed in the first go around. I am STILL sending out Dr's last/lost teaching to grads who never heard of it. A lot of my time is spent with TWI innies now. Most has been internet interactions, but some voice phone is happening now. A Corps couple from the good old days is moving into my area, close to my neighborhood. I am suggesting that they catch up on what they missed 37+ years ago. I got tons of practice HERE doing this, so I have lots of pre-written material to help them see things they missed. Receive, retain, release is the way to do things, and YES, Twinkly, straight out Bible reading is part of my regimen. Do you still SIT?

How many times do I have to repeat for you that I completely objected to the methodology of your group, and as a result I give ZERO credence to your results. You went in determined to find contradictions and you manufactured them from scratch. Your methods were dishonest. I work the collaterals in my life. It's in the application of what we were taught in PFAL that brings out its truth. With your methods you completely talked yourself out of believing and acting in SIT. Congratulations! You proved nothing to me. I use different methods than you. I get different results. No surprise to me.

That answer is flat and empty. I am SO THANKFUL, that when I was struggling with that verse as a young babe in the Bible, there was someone who had the right answer for me.

So far, no one has indicated any curiosity about verse 17, and no one offered an explanation. How did you handle that verse in its context?

I see no one has much interest in understanding Paul and 1 Cor chapter 3. That is such a WONDERFUL chapter now, without that one terribly translated word. Did anyone ever read that chapter? That verse 17 is a real ringer in the KJV.

Actually, I did do that with the "no smoking" verse. It was from the Interlinear Greek that I got the key word fix. I also consulted with a few Greek people. The word "him" in the Greek should be translated "this" and then it makes sense with other scriptures. I alluded to this at the end of my post. */*/*/*/* No, I don't use written PFAL to judge other sections of PFAL. But I do judge tapes from VPW the light of the final written publications. If there were portions of written PFAL that contradicted each other, this would emerge from use. Similarly, had Euclid made a mistake in his selection of Postulates, then things would start falling apart that were built on Geometry.

So, you liked my loosey-goosey approach, but not the specifics I chose in my approach. I can live with that. I hope you and others are able to remember that I said this MVB was mainly for my own personal study. I am not trying to publish or distribute what I have worked there. I was offering it as an example of how we can come up with our own versions, since versions are devoid of authority, anyway. But maybe some have forgotten that. I find it odd, though how you and the others take offence at such simple substitutions I chose for how Paul initially taught them. These are simple associations I see when I read Acts in the KJV. I see Paul having taught them a lot when he first stayed with the Corinthians. I see them as students. There is another place in Acts where he spent 3 weeks teaching, and in the good old days lots of teachers identified that as LIKE the class which took us 3 weeks. But let’s look at the non-trivial items that are in the text I posted, that so far, have eluded posters here so far. The reason I went to work on this chapter is because of the “No Smoking” verse that is in it. Here is the KJV rendering: 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. It’s that last verse that always was a thorn for me. It is used by religious people to condemn cigarette smokers, which BTW I never did. I felt sorry for smokers though, and I thought it odd how loving and tender the verses before it were, and then did a schizophrenic switch in verse 17. In verse 15 we can see that a sinning man will be rescued, but then it turns around with fresh condemnation in verse 17 “…him shall God destroy.” Did that ever bother you in the KJV? It sure bothered me, and I finally got the answer, and not from VPW interestingly. I thought surely some posters here had wrestled with those difficult verses, and they would have noticed how I handled them. But, no. Everyone was more interested in finding offence in the trivial substitutions I used. There’s an opening line in “Evita” that comes to my mind: Oh what a circus, oh what a show Argentina has gone to town Over the death of an actress called Eva Peron We've all gone crazy Mourning all day and mourning all night Falling over ourselves to get all of the misery right LoL! So everyone got “properly offended” with me but missed the main point of me posting that. I wanted to show how well we can smooth out difficult sections for our personal study. Here is how I handled the difficult verse. This cleansing fire will do the job, and the fire shall test every man’s work of what quality it is. If any man’s work survives where he has built, he will feel richly rewarded. If any man’s work shall be burned up, he shall suffer serious losses! HOWEVER! He himself shall be rescued! He will be cleaned up by this cleansing fire. Don’t forget that you are the temple of God, and that pneuma hagion from God dwells inside you! If any man cheats in building the temple of God, this cheating shall God’s fire destroy, for the temple of God is holy, which temple you ARE! I believe there are Critical Greek texts that back me up in this non-trivial rendering.

That's just our lingo for what went on then and there. If you could train your focus on the good you got, then you'd be at peace with what I wrote.

I have been doing the same thing, in essence. I get tired of reading my Cambridge wide margin at times, with Bic 4-color fine point pen notes all over the text and margins to supply better renderings. What I am slowly doing, mainly for personal study and easy flow reading is making the MVB, or Mike Version of the Bible. It's just a VERSION, and nothing God-breathed, but some of it is! Here is my handling of 1 Cor. 3 and it's house building imagery, remembering that Jesus was a house building type of carpenter, and used a lot of house building imagery in his teaching. And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. For ye are yet carnal! For whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are you not carnal, and walk as men? For while one says, “I am of Paul” and another “I am of Apollos” are you all not carnal? Who then is Paul? …and who is Apollos? Just servants, by whom you all believed, even as the Lord gave to every man. I have planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then, he that plants is no big deal, neither is he that waters; but God makes it all grow. In all this, he that plants and he that waters are unified and equal in their focused goals. HOWEVER! Every man shall receive HIS OWN reward according to HIS OWN labor. For WE are construction workers together with God, and YOU GUYS are God’s lush acreage, YOU are God’s strong family farmhouse.
