Music - - Who've you seen/heard lately?
Cowgirl replied to jardinero's topic in Movies, Music, Books, Art
Don't laugh, I think the last concert I went to, was none other than John Denver. When I'm putting around my house or out driving down some country road I always have music playing, the majority of it being country..................Paul Brandt, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Buddy Jewell (Sweet Southern Comfort), Eagles (Peaceful Easy Feeling and Take It Easy) and as of right now, Keith Urban. I listen to other kinds of music as well but my heart is definitely into the good old simple country love songs, the positive ones that is!! Cowgirl -

Hmmmmmmmmmmm....................the words that go through my head when I hear that tune goes something like this "I'm movin' on uppppppppp" and the only thing that I can relate that to would have to be "Welcome back Kotter" Am I close? Cowgirl

"GOODFELLAS" ChattyKathy and Bluzeman, thanks for the rundown, two more questions..................is COUNTRY music (heehee) permitted? And can the movies, music etc. be fairly recent or do you have to go back a certain number of years, the reason I ask is, I notice there is another forum (Music, movies, humor) with two threads "Name that tune" and "Name that flick." Cowgirl

Bluzeman and ChattyKathy, thanks for the welcome! I know the movie that the song "Layla" was in (you are still trying to guess it, eh?) BUT I peeked, I looked it up on google, is that permitted? What are the rules and regulations to joining in on this thread, there are too many pages for me to read, so if someone can kindly let me know, that would be great! Cowgirl

The "Farmer's Alamac" (whom I trust alot more than the forecasters on TV) predict a mild but LOTS OF SNOW this winter. It's when the temp gets around minus 15-30 degrees below celsius that I say enough! I live in a snowbelt area and I love tons of snow so I say bring it on !! All I need to keep me warm this winter is my sweetheart (Goey) and one of these...........................

Sudo, Eighties????? HA!!! I've already been wearing my cowboy boots just to keep my feet warm, mind you it was just a dusting of snow early this morning but now as I look out my kitchen window over the horizon I can see lots of snow clouds moving in. BRRRRRRRRRRRR........time to bring out the flannels and the Christmas music !! Cowgirl

Out in 88, reading your post brought back an old memory especially in light of following leadership's orders and not heeding the voice of God. I was 24yrs old, a Wow in Alberta and we were told to witness to "anything that moved." I was pretty naive and I literally took those words to heart. I began witnessing to a guy on a bus on my way home, my stop came up and I gave him by witnessing card, told him what time the fellowship would be that evening. Well that wasn't good enough for him, he followed me right off the bus to where I was living. I had this gut feeling right from the beginning BUT I had been told to ignore any gut feelings or feelings of fear and that God would protect me because I was doing his will. I got to the outer door of the apartment and tried to quickly slip in but this guy forced his way in right behind me. I'm not a big person, but this guy was a pretty fair size, we ended up in a lobby and before I knew it he had me pinned up against the wall and was making sexual moves, I yelled at him and tried to push him off but I couldn't budge him, so I yelled out "In the name of Jesus Christ, get off of me!!" It worked, immediately he got off and left but I was left pretty shook up. I went into the apartment where my wow family was and told them the incident and their response was "Look how God protected you, cause you spoke His word, it could of been alot worse!" And I believed them even against my gut feeling which I now believe was God working in me not to talk to the guy in the first place. Just another example of listening to leadership and leaving God out of the picture. Cowgirl

I would have to say too much legalism and the other biggie was BOREDOM !! Actually one other thing, I got so tired of trying to fit the "TWI mould" there was no more freedom to be yourself and just be accepted for who you were, it was starting to become like the "Steptford Wives" Everyone was starting to "look" the same. I woke up one day and came to the realization that I could no longer live out the rest of my life being involved with this outfit so that was the end of it for me. Cowgirl

A lady opened her refrigerator and saw a rabbit sitting on one of the shelves. "What are you doing in there?" she asked. The rabbit replied: "This is a Westinghouse, isn't it?", to which the lady replied "Yes" "Well," the rabbit said, "I'm westing".
