  1. Kizka- Hi and welcome, I hope you find the community here in greasespot cafe as theraputic as I have. I can fully believe that you have had these things happen while in TWI. I saw enough of it when I joined TWI, later on the WOW field and as a believer pretty much up until I left. In several cases I reported about them- little was done. The really wicked thing was how even when transgressors were punished the leaders still practiced it in secret using a cloak of spirituality. As you say God will sort them out in the end. In the meantime I hope you find peace and complete healing/wholeness "sozo"
  2. As I understand tupos it is used in non bible Greek to describe a die or mold. For example the die used to stamp a coin with the head of a ruler is a tupos. The stamped head on the coin is the anti-tupos. Another example is a signet ring or seal used to mark sealing wax on a letter. The seal is the tupos and the mark in the melted wax is the anti-tupos. I have heard it explained that you can organize prophecies and characters in the old testament as different tupos. For instance Abraham could be the tupos of believing. Thus the Old Testament provides the mold which Christ filled. And The New Testament of Christ is the tupos by which we are to mold ourselves.
  3. I have a more mundane theory that I can't back scripturally. Remember that Ba lam (with the talking donkey) was a prophet of the most high God but was not a Hebrew. ( That was during the Exodus a lot later) Also Abraham came from Chaldea (Part of present day Iran/Iraq I think) and sent back for wives for his sons. He had to have some kind of religious training and his family tribe had some kind of religious beliefs that predisposed him to recognize and accept the concept of one God. This leads me to wonder if there was a religion in the middle east that was not "pagan". It recognized and worshiped one God which was or became the God of Abraham in the sense we understand it from the Bible. David renamed a town called Salem (peace) Jerusalem (new peace) where he planned to build the temple. Therefore I suspect that Melchisedec was the king of the town Salem that became Jerusalem and a priest of that preexisting religion. A religion that Abraham recognized from his background.

  6. Hey sirg-long time no see- I haven't visited GSC much for a while. Looks like you are still growin' an glowin' ;) You always make me think. Where would a God of Them or That- separate and distinct from self fit in to your ordering? Why did you not include a loving God who intensely, passionately unconditionally and completely loves every individual, creature and item of his creation. Or did you just print it in white and we could not see it because that may be the totality of those colors you used and also the totality of God? The path that can be seen is not the true path.
  7. While my first thought of this is- ridiculous, my second is: The timing would be about about right. With Iran beginning uranium refining, and their presidents' reportedly apocalyptic vision of his destiny, some have estimated that they will have the bomb in 2 to 5 years. No one is seriously trying to stop them either. It is also expected that they will use it against Israel when they have it, and possibly against the USA if they can. Of course Israel would reply, as might we. If this did occur in the Middle East and started between what was Persia and Israel. A lot of people who would read: Zechariah 12:6 In that day will I make the chiefs of Judah like a pan of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire among sheaves; and they shall devour all the peoples round about, on the right hand and on the left; and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem. or other verses like it and think that prophecy had come to pass. I hope I'm wrong, but for now this looks like more self evident prophecy to me. Because if nothing changes it will happen sooner or later.
  8. unless logically speaking you are perfectly imperfect. In this case the reality of Spiritual perfection in Christ existing in the physical reality of an imperfect physical body living in a carnal world. I think Paul and others address this at times in the Bible.
  9. Hi Shifra. If you have not read The Two Ways Of The First Century Church by David Anderson. You and others who are intersted in doctrinal topics might find it interesting. It talks about the conflict between Paul and the legalistic Christian Jews Lead by James, the Lords Brother. As I remember, in some ways it supports your theories about Paul and in others it contradicts them. It can be read at: http://my.en.com/~anders/intro.html
  10. Happiest of day to you!!! :)

  11. From the Peacock Bed Breakfast Website. The Peacock Bed Breakfast has a fascinating and colorful history. Built in 1897, the building has seen a variety of lifestyles, from local bordello to missionary training center. How funny just like the Ohio Limb outside ofColumbus in the '80's
  12. As I remember this teaching: The Greek word for “mocked” in the gospels was the same as the Greek word for “sport” in the Septuagint version of the OT. It was also supposed to be the same for "sporting" in Gen 26:8. I am not enough of a Greek and Hebrew scholar to verify this but the words do look similar when I checked them on a Septuagint website. This was the only scriptural justification I remember for the teaching. Gen 26:7 And the men of the place asked [him] of his wife; and he said, She [is] my sister: for he feared to say, [she is] my wife; lest, [said he], the men of the place should kill me for Rebekah; because she [was] fair to look upon. Gen 26:8 And it came to pass, when he had been there a long time, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looked out at a window, and saw, and, behold, Isaac [was] sporting with Rebekah his wife. Gen 26:9 And Abimelech called Isaac, and said, Behold, of a surety she [is] thy wife: and how saidst thou, She [is] my sister? And Isaac said unto him, Because I said, Lest I die for her. A personal theory of mine is that if this was true- that if Jesus was homosexually raped then under the OT law he would be required to be put to death, even if He had not sinned. This might have been required for him to truly fulfill the Law, because He was innocent of the charges brought against Him and the trial was illegal, and He never transgressed the law- He fulfilled it But I wonder if something in the Law had to condemn him to death, and this would be one of the few things that would do it- Because both the “victim” and “victimizer” were required to be put to death (The only other two I can think of were incest and bestiality) I also wonder if this was part of what was revealed to him at the garden of Gethsemane. Sushi and Sogwap51- This might be why this subject is worthwhile to some. It is why it is to me.
