  1. Of course, what do you do when the Earth's axis moves? Would there be a North and South coast? Would the war of "northern aggression" now be "western aggression?" Would a certain verse in the Bible no longer be valid, being easily measurable?
  2. Technically, north and south only meet on Earth, following the curvature of the planet. If you take out following the curvature, they never meet.

Let's not forget about that giving birth thing. You're going to squeeze an 8lb baby through where?

    MARRIAGE Q

Women did not have the right to divorce their husband in the Old Testament. Only men were granted this privilege (not that I agree with it). Abigail had no choice but to wait until her husband checked out.

I used to have a cat that treated the thing like it was the local fishing hole.

My kids refuse to let me throw away the role when it is finished. How dare I trash a perfectly good telescope?

Mr. Hamm, Don't you know that McDonald's existance is exactly for situations as the one you describe -- the world's public bathrooms, one on every corner. :)-->

Well, I must be out of fellowship quite often. My standing varies constantly, especially if the two drink limit has been violated. I do pay reverence occasionally, kneeling before the porcelain god. Prostrating myself isn’t always fun, but I usually feel better afterwards.

Perhaps this new Hatbox toilet would help the situation, featuring a slow close toilet seat and an electronic "soft touch" actuation. Purist Hatbox toilet

    Toilet Seat Positions

While visiting a recent "innie" turned "outie" I learned of a deeply religious practice of putting the toilet seat cover down after each use. Supposedly, it is some TWI belief that puts pressure both on men and women to do something with it after each experience. I can see putting the seat back down after we men do our thing. It could not be fun for the ladies sitting down without looking and getting your backside all wet. But putting the cover down also? I don't get it. What say y'all? (Where did that come from?) ;)-->

    Yankee or Dixie?

Of course, this may be a sign of things to come... ;)-->

    Yankee or Dixie?

Something's wrong with that test. I went back and noticed that I answered the "route" question wrong. It rhymes with clout if it is a network device, it rhymes with toot if it is refering to a road. I clicked calculate my score and it went to 42%. I clicked again, without changing anything, and it went to 48%. I kept clicking and not too much longer I was 100% (Dixie). Of course, I didn't read the instructions:

    Yankee or Dixie?

40% (Yankee). A definitive Yankee. For the carbonated beverage question, I stuck with my roots and answered pop. My use of soda these days is forced so I don't look so damn stupid to the locals. -->

There sure seems to be a lot of talk about me on this thread. ;)--> TWI's debt policy/non-policy is the result of Craig getting ....ed about a corpse couple 2 years out of graduation, drowning in debt. It went from digging out Vee Pee's / Harry's teachings on money management to all debt being sin in a matter of weeks. The first teaching, which I believe was a corpse night, still had mortgages and student loans being considered OK, since they were an investment. It is no surprise that their current "research" backs up Craig, seeing it was done by his group of yes-men. Like everything else, TWI's logic is backwards. Their favorite verse for it is: Since a borrower is slave to the lender, it must be sin. Keeping with the same logic, the poor are slave to the rich since they rule over them. Therefore, it is sin to be poor. How about taking the verse at face value as just stating a fact? In that culture, if you did not pay back your debt to someone, you became their slave. Slavery was alive and well at this time, whether you were an Israelite or non-Israelite. Of course, TWI has a whole host of teachings on why it is good to be a slave to God, which means being a slave to TWI. Supposedly the greatest freedom is found here. Another example of their backwards logic. Slavery, by definition, is forced servitude, against one's will. How could it be good to be a slave to TWI and not the local bank? Why doesn't TWI lend money out to their followers? Since they are already their slaves, couldn't be any harm in it. Since slavery is quite illegal in this country now, I don’t think this verse applies very well. You can go in debt as far as you want and not be at risk of becoming someone’s permanent butler.

  16. They had those in the women's bathrooms? --> Wonder if they were ever used?
  17. Well put Rascal. I think that was the point I was trying to get accross, that she doesn't have to feel that way. Even though TWI and her husband have put her in this box, the reality is she doesn't have to remain there. Getting outside help would help her see this, either to fix the marriage or end it.
  18. I would have to agree with you Radar. Although there are probably many issues, TWI and the mindset they push is probably the biggest. It seems one is required to get away from it to realize the enslavement one has been in.
  19. I think Belle struck a nerve with HCW. :)--> I try to keep in mind that we only know one side of the story. Even though it appears obvious that her husband is the standard controlling TWIt, I've paid the price more times than I like by not getting all the facts. With that, it appears that she is not happy at all and is approaching the point where she is going to need something to change to keep her sanity. I think reaching out to others, like Belle, is a good start. It helps you realize all is not well and things could be better. The type of change she is looking for is pretty major and could end with the termination of her marriage. When faced with such decisions, it is always best to get as much information as you can and potential paths to take in order to make a more informed decision. My recommendation would be to talk to professionals -- a divorce lawyer and a marriage counselor. Both offer free initial consultations and can be done during the day without her husband knowing if needed. A marriage counselor could give her options on how to approach her husband in a way to help him see that they need outside help if they are going to be able to make the marriage work. Not having ever been to one, I can't speak much more on it. A divorce lawyer will show her how that she, with children, is sitting in the driver's seat. In a way, it pains me to give this advice, having been on the husband end of it. But if this guy is the standard controlling TWIt who will not listen to reason, then he deserves it. The only reason this guy is able to come home at night to a family is because she allows it. Any day she feels, she can go down to the court, file for divorce, and the court will issue an order forbidding him any access to the house. He will also be ordered to continue mortgage/rent payments on it until the divorce is finalized. When I first talked to my lawyers after my wife moved out and filed against me, they told me it was highly unusual for the wife to move out. They had never had such a case. They said normally, you would have had a cop hand you an order to stay away and I would have been sleeping on a friends couch that night and there was nothing I could have done about it. The fact that she isn't working and is dependant on him doesn't really matter. A divorce lawyer will not require up-front money from her. They will look at the assets of the marriage and get their fee from that. In other words, the husband would be paying for her lawyer. If there are insufficient assets, a free lawyer can be found rather easily as others have noted. He will also be committed to giving a significant amount of his income in support payments, such that it will probably be a long time before he can ever give money to TWI again. I'm not suggesting she run down and file for divorce tomorrow. I just think she should know the facts and not feel she is totally dependant on him without any recourse. Perhaps if he had the facts also, he would be more willing to work things out with her.
  20. I thought they were a bit more hairy than normal. HA! :D--> :D--> :D--> I don't want to know how you tricked me into thinking I was shaving my own legs.
  21. I was uncomfortable shaving my legs in there too... Just kidding.....
  22. Another theory would be that the site has been hacked and it is being used by script-kiddies to store warez files (movies, etc.). If you look at the top visitor sites report, most of the sites listed are cable modem users and there are quite a few averaging over 3 visits a day. That's a bit much, even for the hardcore wayfer. Their site is susceptible to a break-in. They don’t keep it patched with the latest security fixes and it’s wide open for anyone to take advantage.
  23. Let's see if I can get this graph into here: The spike begins in October and has been maintained. Coincidently, October is their anniversary. A new TWI mandate seems to be a plausible theory.
  24. My ex sports a bumper sticker on her car with TWI's web address on it. I can't imagine anyone seeing it and running home to bring up the site. You pretty much have to be stopped at a light right behind the car just to read it.
