  1. Ok, so we had three live action series. There's a hint of a movie, if not during the first incarnation then almost certainly during the third. We also had two animated spinoffs about which we know nothing other than their existence. The third live series, though not popular with audiences, did well with critics. The original lasted five seasons. The other two live action series had different titles. Got it. I think. The Muppet Show was the first. The Muppets was the last. Not sure what the middle series was.
  2. Well, there were multiple Brady Bunch series, but too many to fit this description. Not to mention, the critical acclaim is a stretch for the Bradys. I have a hunch this was animated.
  3. He played (and these ARE the giveaways) Larry Fine Jerry Lewis Jack McFarland
  4. New clue: The director was not fond of this movie when he finished filming it and seriously considered editing it down to a television episode. What changed his mind? The addition of the musical score. The first American movie to show a toilet flushing on screen. The director bought the movie rights to the book anonymously, then bought up as many copies of the book as he could to keep the plot a secret. Inspired multiple sequels, a prequel and a TV series. Remade in 1998. Shot for shot. Leading many to wonder, why? It bombed.
  5. Ah. Well, I remember it vividly, despite having seen it only once, at its original airing.
  6. My first guess is Get Smart!, but I'm not quite sure that fits. Get Smart Again was just a TV movie to the best of my knowledge, and the third series was just called Get Smart (and was not critically acclaimed by a longshot).
  7. When you say you "thought it was awful," you're talking about the third series, right? Also, I'm assuming from your question that the shows did not all have the same name.
  8. I thought I was the only person not involved in the production who remembered it.
  9. I am surprised you remembered the 1979 version
  10. Surprised anyone remembered this. The Miracle Worker starred Patty Duke as Helen Keller and Anne Bancroft as Anne Sullivan in 1962. Remade in 1979 with Patty Duke as Anne Sullivan and Melissa Gilbert as Helen Keller. Patty Duke is well known for playing "identical cousins" in "The Patty Duke Show"
  11. Did the younger actress in the older version ever play the cousin of the older actress in the later version?
  12. Should be said: "Private interpretation," biblically, didn't even mean what VPW said it meant. It has nothing to do with the meaning of scripture.
  13. Because she wasn't. Wrong year of death and wrong... oh fine Doris DAY
  14. He said, In winter 1963 it felt like the world would freeze With John F. Kennedy and the Beatles.
  15. Debbie Reynolds died a day after her daughter. You're thinking of the wrong day.
  16. Ooh, re-search. Good one!
  17. Points off for spelling, but yes, Jerry Maguire. You had me at hello. SHOW ME THE MONEY! Cuba Gooding won an Oscar. Later, Regina King and Renee Zellwegger. Tom Cruise has multiple nominations. "You had me from Hello" was a hit for Kenny Chesney
  18. Ok, ok. But Bull Durham is not a character. This movie has a title character who was played by Not Robin Williams. One co-star won an Oscar for his role. Two others won Oscars for later roles. And I can't stress this enough: You should have it from the first clue.
  19. Hello. An actor who eventually won an Oscar for this movie first auditioned for the part opposite Robin Williams and believed Williams would be cast in the title role. The real title actor had already been hired and it wasn't Williams. Williams was just doing a favor (not clear whether it was for the director or the actual star of the movie). Nonetheless, the Oscar winner would eventually work with Williams on another movie. Sometimes considered a sports movie. Other times, total chick flick. Contains a number of famous lines, (among them, NOT "The Kwan" or, alt spelling, "The Quan"). One of those lines was later adapted into a hit country song. Three of the four main actors went on to win Oscars (one for this movie, two for others). The fourth has never won, but was nominated multiple times. I'm surprised you didn't get it from the first clue.
