One Day at a Time

I don't see him. But I see a reference to him in the script. He ain't dead, you know.

So this is it. (This is it).

48 Hours WAS Eddie Murphy's breakout film, and he was a main star. So no. This comedy (goofier than 48 hours) starred a large ensemble case, but he main actor was and remains a relative unknown. Relative. Like a D-lister. You might have heard of him only because he shares a name with a famous acting family, of which he is not a member. But if you look at the poster, you would think the main actor was someone else entirely. The woman who sang the theme song has a cameo as herself.
-
oh,. ok. My turn then. If you look at the poster for this early/mid-80s comedy, you would be forgiven for thinking one of the supporting actors was in fact the lead actor. Nope. He just had his breakout role shortly before this movie came out, and the marketing team (rightly) wanted to capitalize on it. Jim Carrey tried out for the lead. Producers felt he was too talented to be in an ensemble. He became famous later as part of the In Living Color ensemble, which has... nothing to do with this movie. The woman who sang the theme song (not the title song: there was no title song) had major success with two other movie soundtrack songs. This one... didn't do so hot.

At last. Stacey Keanan (who?) played the lead character. Paul Reiser (Mad About You) was one dad. Greg Evigan (BJ and the Bear) was the other. There was an episode about a DNA test, but by then the series was underway. In reality, it's inconceivable this would not have taken place before the pilot episode. Florence Stanly reprised the role of Judge Wilbur from this series on Night Court because why not.

The character played by the main actress never learns the identity of her biological father.

Blister in the Sun ?

He played... Jeffrey Friedman (in a well known movie, bit part) Michael Taylor (in a well known series) Paul Buchman (in a very well known series, and the same character in a better known otherwise unrelated series) Carter Burke (in a VERY well known movie, better than a bit part, but not extremely)

Due to advances in DNA technology, the premise of this show is no longer plausible. The actress who played a judge on this sitcom played the same role in another sitcom, though neither is a spinoff of the other. The main actress is PROBably best known for this series. The two main actors are probably better known for other roles, one as a husband, the other as a trucker.

So. Dorian spared my neck of the woods, but for everyone else on the coast, keep your eyes open and stay safe. Fernand (the storm George discussed) looks like it will not reach hurricane strength but it is a tropical storm now and will hit Mexico as one. By the time its remnants hit south Texas, it doesn't look like it will be much more than a nuisance. As always, that forecast could change. Here's Fernand's cone: https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at2+shtml/174935.shtml?cone#contents

The orange X is trending west or west-southwest, so the southeastern most part of Texas should keep a close watch, but the rest of the state seems fairly ok. As always, that could change as the hours pass. The red x (easternmost as of this writing) is the one I'm concerned about. I wasn't worried about Dorian until our supermarkets were raided, and I was underprepared for my family. Fortunately, we're only getting a token hit (a few gusty thunderstorms every few hours. Nothing we're not used to in the summertime/rainy season).

Point of clarification: The graphic in the opening post is live and linked to the national hurricane center. That means when they update the forecast, the graphic in the opening post will change to reflect it. So if you see us all posting about something that makes no sense when you look at the map, that's why.

One of the oddest courses I've seen in a storm. At this stage I'd be more worried if I lived in London than I am here in South Florida. Carolinas, be prepared. These shifting cones won't last forever
-
See that lake in the lower middle of Florida? The higher north of that lake, the better off I am. But there are other GSers who are in Florida as well, so if you're going to pray, make it that everyone is safe and not that the storm goes one way or another.
