you are taking my clues way too figuratively

It means what we want it to mean when we want it to mean it. In this case, no one else was gonna jump in. :)

The bonus round again: Two women in Oscars history have been awarded for playing the same character. Unlike the other characters we discussed, this was a case of one movie being a remake of the other. Not a reboot. Not a prequel. Not an older version of a younger character or vice versa. Same character in the same story. Name the movie, the character or either actress.

Another Oscars question. In the history of the Oscars, only three Christmas movies have ever been nominated for Best Picture. Two of those nominations came in the same year. This is the least well-known of the three. Not saying it's obscure. It's just that the other two are far better known. This is going to sound confusing, but bear with me. There are three major roles. The lead male role is NOT a title role. The lead female role IS the title role. The main supporting male role is referred to in the title. So I'm going to call that a title role too. That would be arguable if anyone cared to argue it. THAT SAID: The lead male and the title male were originally reversed. After the director was replaced, the new director reviewed the footage that had been shot and decided to swap them out. Both were accomplished actors whose egos were not bruised. In fact, it is considered one of the lead actor's best performances. In the 1980s, the wife of a well-known TV actor/director/producer told him that she thought this movie would make a good series. He started developing one and changed a lot of elements, but it ran for a few years. Shortly after its cancellation, he and his co-star died. Sound familiar? It should.

Maybe your memory is a bit shaky. Yes, that is a monster clue. So was that.

[BONUS: I forgot that two actresses actually won an Oscar for playing the same role. This was a bit more recent and it slipped my mind. One movie was a remake of the other. If you know where they like to be, then you know the movie and possibly the role and one actress. Kudos if you know both. I don't recall the more recent winner]

So far so good. For Q. 3, our categories are Best Actress and Best Supporting actress, with the latter referring to the former in the movie as a "dish." The movie won best picture. The director was crowned best director. The lead actor won Best Actor... 20 someodd years later for a different movie. He was snubbed for this one. There was a best original song oscar too.

Funny moment in a movie with dangerously few.

"Do you guys remember a couple of years ago when that guy was lighting homeless people on fire in the subways?" "Jesus, Hud! Maybe not the best time for this conversation down here!" "Right. [awkward silent pause]. I just can't stop thinking how scary it'd be if a flaming homeless guy came running... "HUD!" "I'm just saying. Sorry."

Three-part question, and you gotta get all three (otherwise, what's the fun?) 1. Only twice in Oscars history have two actors won for playing the same character. The first time, it was the same character in the same movie series. Name the actors and the role. 2. The second time, it was the same character in different interpretations (one actor's version of the character had no bearing on the other's). Name the actors and the role. 3. There was one instance in which two actresses were nominated for playing the same character in the same movie. Neither actress won, but the movie did very well that night. Name the actresses and EITHER the role or the movie.

Marisa Tomei who went on to win an Oscar. Yup, that was her. It was supposed to be Meg Ryan, but that was before the premise changed to a spinoff.

On February 22, 1997, the remix of Don't Cry For Me Argentina was number one on the dance charts. It went something like this:

I thought we had a gentlemen's agreement that some level of looking it up was acceptable after three days, and it has been three days in the sense of 72 hours after the first clue was posted. I cheated way before George did, so you're not gonna hear back from me.

Really? Larry Storch?

The original premise was a white woman in an all black setting. When the planning switched to a spinoff, the white girl became a subplot. The name of the series makes a lot more sense with the original premise, and very little sense once the subplot and spinoff angles were jettisoned.
