What's the deal with the British accent? I gotta problem...
Raf replied to J0nny Ling0's topic in Open
That would explain similar. It wouldn't explain identical. Oh, and NO ONE noticed that Marty, er, Clint was a ringer for Seamus McFly? No one? -
Well, I didn't want to look obsessed. I'd forgotten the first quote, to be honest, so the allusion (on TWO other threads!!!) was a coincidence. The second quote rang a bell. The absolute giveaway is the Elvis' birthday quote. Some other TWI-appropriate quotes in that film: Don't let your - run you life. You are a pitiful b-. :)-->

Yes, Wojo was in DC Cab. He ran the cab company, if I recall correctlike.
-
If you see him again, tell him I saw DC Cab like five times. :)--> Two DC Cab references in one day. Haven't thought about that movie in years!
-
But hell, it's a free drink. I'll down it and worry about the commentary later.

I'm trying to figure out if I've been insulted or not. I don't know. "Accurately described" and "insulted" are often synonymous...

Irish, but not Brit... And no, Johnny. No Spock ears. And since I'm a Next Gen Trekker, I must add: no Geordi visor either. -
Hmm, P-Mosh is a 24 fan, eh? I think I'll dig up that photo of Kiefer Sutherland standing right beside Rush Limbaugh.

Signals, 70 posts (so far) is a lot of posts for such a short period of time. It appears I'm tardy with this. Please don't reflect the poor service on my tip.

True. But we'd have brought Robert Loggia to Big anyway. Nice catch on Adam No-Relation Baldwin, by the way. Shame you couldn't link him to DC Cab instead. Goofy stupid movie. :)-->

A book? Dude, I've read them all! The Nitpicker's Guide for Next Generation Trekkers The Nitpicker's Guide for Classic Trekkers The Nitpicker's Guide for Next Generation Trekkers Vol. II The Nitpicker's Guide for Deep Space Nine Trekkers... Long live Phil Farrand! And I'm a big, big fan of www.moviemistakes.com Seriously: the explanation has always been that Chekhov must have been somewhere else on the ship. And that Saavik is half Romulan. In other films: why does Marty McFly's paternal great great grandmother look like his Mom? -

The reviews are coming in, and most are exuberant. Yes!

A genuine fossil!

I'll bet it comes from some obscure, WWI, U.S. government produced propaganda film.

Make sure they know Long Island is a BIG place. And I don't know how hospitable the family would be, though they've been dealing with drive-bys for years. No ghosts. Just gawkers. Some evil house. Ghosts must have left when the Lutzes moved out.

If that's the case, then you're right. If that's the case, then I'm with the teacher. "Of course the administration's going to cover their butts?" No, of course the kid is going to cover his butt. He's got reason to lie, too.
-
The kid himself said he could have handled it better. He was a jerk about it. He could have easily waved the teacher over, said "hang on Mom: Hey, teach, this is my mom, calling from Iraq. I just need a couple of minutes, please." But instead he was an arrogant bonehead, which he has admitted. Yes, the teachers were wrong, but they had no way of knowing who was on the phone, and when you see a school rule being violated, you take swift and blunt action. Frankly, it's about time teachers started enforcing school rules.
-
Glad you saw that WW. The kid wasn't suspended for getting the call. He was suspended for being an A**hole about it.

Kev, That was a CYA for the blunder of having her cry. There's just nothing in the movie whatsoever to lead anyone to think she's anything but Vulcan, and nothing in any subsequent movie to address it. It was a blunder, pure and simple. Pip pip! Correction: I learned I was mistaken. There was a line of dialogue cut from STII establishing that Saavik was half-Romulan. Even though it was cut, it established that the producers did have this information. I still think it's a blunder, but there's evidence I was wrong.
