  1. Still haven't seen it. Some family trouble, worth praying for if you've got the time.
  2. Why do you weep? What are these tears upon your face? Soon you will see All of your fears will pass away Safe in my arms You're only sleeping What can you see On the horizon? Why do the white gulls call? Across the sea A pale moon rises The ships have come to carry you home
  3. This is a bit preliminary. It's why I raised the subject, but I was wrong to draw a conclusion without further research. EDIT: I haven't double checked these references. I'm checking one of those Bible web sites, and could be mistaken in how I'm interpreting what I'm finding. Matthew 13:5 Some (allos) fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: Luke 8:6 And some (heteros) fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. Matthew 13:7 And some (allos) fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them: Luke 8:7 And some (heteros) fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. Matthew 13:8 But other (allos) fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold. Luke 8:8 And other (heteros) fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Matthew 19:9 "And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except [it be] for fornication, and shall marry another (allos), committeth adultery..." Luke 16:18 "Everyone who divorces his wife and marries another (heteros) commits adultery, and the one who marries a woman divorced from her husband commits adultery." Galatians 1:18, 19 Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to see Peter, and abode with him fifteen days. But other (heteros) of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother. Is Paul trying to imply here that Peter and James were a different kind of apostle from the others?
  4. Let me retract and study that a bit more before continuing.
  5. Lay down Your sweet and weary head Night is falling You have come to journey's end Sleep now And dream of the ones who came before They are calling From across a distant shore
  6. Actually, I think it's more accurate to say "heteros" means "other regardless of how many others are involved." It could be two. It could be more. The fact that it IS two sometimes bears no implication that in those instances it MUST be two involved, anymore than the fact that it's more than two sometimes means it MUST be more than two. The "same kind/different kind" distinction doesn't always work either, for in parallel scriptures (two scriptures handling identical events), the words are interchangeable (allos in one gospel, heteros in another).
  7. Do you guys SEE this? That is just plain wrong. Why is Luke going to distinguish these two from two other people he does not mention?WTH, so determined are you to prove the thesis that "four crucified" is correct that you're twisting definitions and usages to suit that end. You are NOT letting the text speak for itself. Actually, that would be FIVE, if you're right. But then, after such a wonderful lesson, we also did forget about the cross in the middle, didn't we?
  8. BAAAAAAhahahahahahahaha! Figured it out. EXCELLENT clues!
  9. Of course it would. But is it right? (I think it should be, but then, I think Into the West fits the picture, too. :) ).

    MOG WARS

MOG WARS Episode One The Phantom Snow Storm The world of Christianity is humming along quite nicely, with its usual mix of honest, hard-working ministers trying to do the work of their God together with hucksters and charlatans looking to make a quick buck. In the far off system of New Knoxville, Ohio, (if there's a bright center to the universe, you're at the church it's farthest from), a young preacher named sees a snowstorm that no one else sees. Convinced it was a message from God Himself, the preacher makes sure he tells no one about this miraculous vision for more than a decade... MOG WARS Episode Two Attack of the Class Decades have passed since the phantom snowstorm struck New Knoxville. Now ensconced as the nominal head of a nominally interesting Corporation, the preacher makes his move, taking bits and pieces of other writings and classes and cobbling them into his own, Frankenclass. The impact is astonishing. People are actually willing to PAY for this stuff. Good money, too! MOG WARS Episode III Revenge of the &$*# The preacher finds a new apprentice, one far more powerful in his spitting ability and younger than the preacher's congenital tongue-kissing brother. Little does he know that his apprentice will one day be the undoing of his Corporation. MOG WARS Episode IV A New Hopelessness The MOG is dead, his apprentice, the Brow, ensconced as the new MOG. The Brow has as much lasciviousness, lust for power, and patent dishonesty as his predecessor, with none of the charisma. But across the galaxy is a renegade bodyguarding bus driver whose dedication to the original MOG was second only to his own lust for power. And from the pen of the bus driver came a force so powerful, it would shake the foundations of the Corporation. MOG WARS Episode V The Corporation Strikes Back The bodyguard bus driver and his fellow separatists are cast from New Knoxville, ushering in a new era of uncontrolled sycophancy for the Brow. Anyone who refuses to pay homage to the Brow is sent by the wayside. Some Separatists are only too pleased to follow the bodyguarding bus driver off a cliff, with many others saying WTF? Back in New Knoxville, the Brow concocts a plan to do away with Frankenclass and replace it with his own, deadly concoction of false conclusions and baseless assumptions. MOG WARS Episode VI Return of Some Level of Sanity Plagued by a relentless barrage of factual information coming from the vast reaches of Cyberspace, the Brow is forced to confront his darkest secrets. Toppled from power, he flees. But it's not a victory for the bodyguarding bus driver, either. He, too, was plagued by a barrage of apathy coming from all directions, and the sudden realization that most Separatists were none too keen on the idea of supplanting one self-important MOG-wannabe with another self-important MOG-wannabe. Yub Yub!
  12. How do you not know how I got "into"?
  13. DJS, I appreciate your post here, but I'd like to challenge you on something. If things really have changed, if it really has softened up, if the legalism really is going away... ... then state your name. I say this because it's my suspicion that you are still under the ministry's "control." You will be penalized for posting here, particularly for posting something that's not 1000% supportive of TWI's position. If I am wrong about this, then I am wrong. Such is life. I've been wrong many times before and will be again. But if I am right, DJS, then you are not free, and the liberty you have in Christ has been usurped by an organization. Every positive thing you cite is available outside of TWI. Every last one, plus the freedom to express yourself as you wish, without concern that someone will find out. Please consider it. Raf
  14. There's a 1913 movie on IMDB called Into the North. Is it Into the West ?
  15. Not only does this NOT PROVE that heteros means "other when only two are involved," it actually helps disprove it. If heteros means "other when only two are involved," then "two other" is redundant. It would be like saying I bought a pair of two shoes. You go on to say that heteros is used to distinguish the kakourgai from the lestai, but why? Why distinguish between the kakourgai and the lestai when the lestai are not being mentioned at all in this gospel? Again, the use of heteros doesn't prove a single thing you're insisting it does.
  16. Now I see what's been going on. Thanks everyone. So who's up? AH, here it is: did anyone get this yet? I'm stumped.
  17. You're really confusing me, Digi, so let's clear the air. It's a game. It's all in fun. It's all good. I'm not pointing a finger at you, and I didn't even say it was cheating. I just said it's not a good idea. I even added a smiley. :) Just like that one. It's all good. It's all a game. Woohoo! Yippee! and all that. :)
  18. "Ugly American" was a self-deprecating comment, meant to indicate that I don't get something a British person would get. "In and Out" was obscure. To get from a photo of Queen Elizabeth to ER? Can I get some Americans to chime in here? How many of you have EVER heard of ER as a reference to Queen Elizabeth? But hey, no one said this was an American board. Or game. :)
