And they spoke. Not everyone was screwed over by the Ford Motor Company, and some people retired from Enron and sold their stock before things went to hell. They might be interested in a Mustang or an autographed photo of Ken Lay.

If you posted a Mustang for sale on a message board featuring people who feel they've been screwed over by the Ford Motor Company, you can bet your bottom dollar you're going to get some animated responses. I've got an autographed picture of Ken Lay for sale. I think I'll go over to the ex-Enron message board, "announce" it, and see what they say.

Does this say "this is just an announcement?" Does it say "please don't respond unless you have something nice to say?" I would think that GSCafe is the LAST place where one would be discouraged from saying what we really think of PFAL.

We can all be a bit more respectful. But this is the Open Forum section of GSCafe, so no one should be surprised when people openly respond. Speaking ill of the recently deceased is in bad taste. Speaking ill of an inanimate object is not. For some of us, PFAL represents something good in our past, the way things could and should have been. For others, it represents great pain and great hurt, a tool used to exert control and hedonistic opportunism. On an open forum, particularly on one that has repeatedly disavowed the label "Christian forum," don't be surprised to hear both viewpoints. It bears repeating that WG was never insulted or attacked in any way: it was the PRODUCT that was insulted and attacked. If that hurt her, well, she has the right. I don't see why she should have been surprised or insulted, and certainly not attacked.

There is a Michael Moore category. It's called "Best Use of Misinformation and Deception to Challenge Misinformation and Deception." The category is better known as "Best Arm Wrestling Contest at a Leper Colony."

Quite the opposite. If I went into a bar and decided to have a soda, and a bunch of drinkers came up to me and said "you're having a soda? I hate soda, unless there rumminit!" I would think, gee, I must be at a bar, because some drunk guy's makin an idjit of himself. I wouldn't stand up, announce to the whole bar that if they don't welcome non-drinkers, then I'm not coming back, and skulk away. Heck, I might even buy the guy a rum and Coke! People are allowed to express anti-Way feelings here. They are allowed to express pro-Way feelings here. And the fact that one such feeling is posted does NOT forbid the opposite feeling from being posted on the same thread! Honestly, I don't see why anyone should be shocked at the responses directed at the PRODUCT being posted here (there were no derogatory comments directed at the person offering the product). WG has the right to feel how she wants about the replies. If it were me, I'd just brush it off. A later addition to this post: You know, if I were in a bar, and somebody came in selling Kool-Aid, I might giggle a little.
  7. Yes. The musical version won a record number of Tony Awards and was side-splittingly hilarious. Brooks felt it should be captured on film. It wasn't a bad idea by any stretch.
  8. This is so obscure, the cast and crew of Traxx have never heard of it!

  10. Interestingly, it lost the SAG award for Best Ensemble (the equivalent of Best Picture) to Crash. There's hope yet. The other Oscar Best Picture nominees were Capote, Crash, Munich and Good Night/Good Luck. I've seen Capote and Crash. Both were WAY the hell better than Brokeback Mountain.
  11. Ah, dang. Rest well. Hope to see you soon.
  12. Greasespot opinions on the Trinity: The Way has it right, mainstream Christianity has it wrong. Mainstream Christianity has it right, the Way has it wrong. Mormons have it right, the Way and mainstream Christianity have it wrong. The Jews have it right, the Mormons, the Way, and mainstream Christianity have it wrong. There is no God. That should about cover the spectrum, no?

  17. Off topic Here's the article, Oaks.
  18. Well, I guess that settles it, then. Tea, anyone?

I think that's part of the risk of posting on a public message board. People who disagree with you will say so, and posts that are intended to be taken seriously will be mocked. I don't want a PFAL poster, but I once hunted for a copy of ROA tapes from an ROA I detested, just to have it. In fact, I think I'll give some of it a listen this morning! :)
  20. Oaks, did you catch that alumni magazine article they did on me a few months back?

No, Jonny, but it is a place where people with those feelings exist in large number and have no hesitation expressing those feelings. You wouldn't be shocked to go into a bar and find drinking, even though people who don't drink are welcome there, would you?
  22. Hint: The lyrics to the song I listed give a MAJOR clue to the title of the song Word Wolf is looking for. Heh heh heh.
