  1. He said, In winter 1963 it felt like the world would freeze With John F. Kennedy and the Beatles.
  2. Debbie Reynolds died a day after her daughter. You're thinking of the wrong day.
  3. Ooh, re-search. Good one!
  4. Points off for spelling, but yes, Jerry Maguire. You had me at hello. SHOW ME THE MONEY! Cuba Gooding won an Oscar. Later, Regina King and Renee Zellwegger. Tom Cruise has multiple nominations. "You had me from Hello" was a hit for Kenny Chesney
  5. Ok, ok. But Bull Durham is not a character. This movie has a title character who was played by Not Robin Williams. One co-star won an Oscar for his role. Two others won Oscars for later roles. And I can't stress this enough: You should have it from the first clue.
  6. Hello. An actor who eventually won an Oscar for this movie first auditioned for the part opposite Robin Williams and believed Williams would be cast in the title role. The real title actor had already been hired and it wasn't Williams. Williams was just doing a favor (not clear whether it was for the director or the actual star of the movie). Nonetheless, the Oscar winner would eventually work with Williams on another movie. Sometimes considered a sports movie. Other times, total chick flick. Contains a number of famous lines, (among them, NOT "The Kwan" or, alt spelling, "The Quan"). One of those lines was later adapted into a hit country song. Three of the four main actors went on to win Oscars (one for this movie, two for others). The fourth has never won, but was nominated multiple times. I'm surprised you didn't get it from the first clue.

  8. We've discussed this before, but I thought I'd resurrect the topic. A friend is working on a podcast that will touch on how cults manipulate language and why. My feeling is that giving people a peculiar vocabulary and jargon helps builds group cohesion at the expense of outsiders who use the same words but don't mean the same thing. Examples, "I'm believing for" instead of "I'm praying or hoping for." "Religious" as an insult. I'd like to give her more examples unique to TWI. Suggestions?
  9. I don't know the actual name, but I would say "Istanbul" And the only band I know of that sang it was They Might Be Giants
  10. And this was the answer on another thread like really really recently
  11. Mark agrees with Raf. Put it on your calendar. We will celebrate the anniversary of this next year
  12. The artist is neither Cleopatra nor Caesar
  13. They say around the way you've asked for me There's even talk about you wanting me I must admit that's what I want to hear But that's just talk until you take me there oh If it's true don't leave me all alone out here Wondering if you're ever gonna take me there Tell me what you're feeling cause TITLE Girl you've gotta let me know which way to go CHORUS My every thought is of this being true It's getting harder not to think of you Girl I'm exactly where I want to be The only thing is I need you here with me - oh If it's true don't leave me all alone out here Wondering if you're ever gonna take me there Tell me what you're feeling cause TITLE Girl you've gotta let me know which way to go CHORUS
  14. New song They say around the way you asked for me There's even talk about you wanting me I must admit that's what I want to hear But that's just talk until you take me there If it's true don't leave me all alone out here Wondering if you're ever gonna take me there

  17. You sound bitter, Grace. Say three Hail Dorothies, two Our Rhodas and go to concession before next service. While at concession, pick me up a beer.
  18. You know why I come here? To be judged by people who don't know who we are, why we're here, what motivates us. I love being called bitter by a total stranger making a blanket statement in a drive by post. Welcome to Greasespot, Your Honor.
