  1. I'm not going to wait. Each of these Best Supporting Actresses won an Academy Award for their first nomination in the category. Some like [ I'm a duffus Renee Zellweger and Cate Blanchett were nominated in earlier work but they were nominated in the Best Actress category but didn't win. And all of them were nominated and won in the same decade which is extraordinary in itself. Now in-hind sight, I should have gave this list and asked "What they had in common"?, and answer would have been all in the same decade. I think human should be placed on probation and not allowed to post anymore questions for 3 days for this dismay attempt at a trivia question.
  2. I doubt it, so no. Dammit, I just realized something, that probably doesn't matter now but I edited a couple of names in here that I wasn't aware weren't there. Renee Zellweger Cate Blanchett And I feel like an ash because they were possibly the biggest names on the list. I just gave it up a minute ago in response to Raf's post but now I wonder (but probably not, because so far no one has come up with anything), if this gets anyone closer to the answer? Now I feel like a real duffus. Man, I'm sorry. (I'm sure George is saying "Man human, just give it up").
  3. Before time expires, I'll try another clue. It might be the nature of HOW I POSED the question that's drawing little response. All of these women, or actresses have ALL WON THE ACADEMY AWARD FOR BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS. So, I tried to pose this with the idea that somebody would pick up on the obvious, which George did, and then I hoped they would get to the real gist of how they got THEIR awards. Anyway, I'm finally getting around to the last clue. How do actors who play their character's and in their performance become eligible to win an Oscar? They do a good job? Sure. However, these actresses did something that is quite rare and doesn't take place very often in Hollywood. That's all I've got.
  4. Papa Was A Rolling Stone "Down in Louisiana Where the alligators grow so mean There lived a girl that I swear to the world Made the alligators look tame"
  5. "A child arrived just the other day He came to the world in the usual way"
  6. Joe Walsh was a member of the first group I ever saw in concert, The James Gang. I think ~Sugarloaf~ was the backup band, "Green Eyed Lady". He became a solo artist but then was hired as a permanent member of ~The Eagles~ in 1975 as their guitarist and keyboardist, and vocalist. He is very versatile and when ~The Eagles~ are on tour they play some of Joe Walsh's solo songs too. He's kind of a huge artist.
  7. Almost sounds like a submission? Okay, each of these actresses received their achievement the same way. They each achieved this by the same means. [I posted this this morning but when I tapped the submit tab the site dropped. Noticed a few things with my phone and computer that weren't working nearly as well as they usually do.]
  8. So each actress acted in the 2000's. George has it right. That is the obvious thing. Oscar winners. But that's not the answer to the trivia.
  9. I'm sure you've heard of it George. I have a mansion but forget the price Ain't never been there, they tell me its nice I live in hotels, tear out the walls I have accountants pay for it all My Maseratti does one-eighty-five I lost my license, now I don't drive I have a limo, ride in the back I lock the doors in case I'm attacked I'm making records, my fans they can't wait They write me letters, tell me I'm great So I got me an office, gold records on the wall Just leave a message, maybe I'll call
  10. I figured someone would have figured this out by now. No one's got this yet?
  11. For the record my intention was to make this a challenging thread. And so George, you may not figure it out. I hope you do, but this is what I like about good trivia. You learn things, things you never knew. I've laid all the cards out that I'm going to. Don't get the wrong idea or anything. When I came across this bit of trivia I thought, "Wow, that's fascinating stuff"! Good luck.
  12. No that isn't it, but now you're getting somewhere George. That's the obvious thing. After some editing, I'm hoping this is easier to understand what I'm asking for. Let me add this, hope you and yours George, are having a safe and Happy New Year.
  13. Wedding Bell Blues Marilyn McCoo or ~The Fifth Dimension~ It's right. I have a mansion forget the price Ain't never been there they tell me it's nice I live in hotels tear out the walls I have accountants pay for it all
  14. I may need to steer you a little bit in the right direction George. No. These actresses do not have anything to do with sharing a character on screen with each other. Individually they all share something each on their own. A hint then. Each of the actresses did these things in the same decade.
  15. Switching it up now a little. Take a look at this list of movie actresses. There should be something that should become rather obvious to draw from them. However, this is not the trivia that or, at least not the part, of the trivia that I'm looking for. What do all of these actresses share in common? Rachael Weisz Marcia Gay Harden Jennifer Connelly Jennifer Hudson Catherine Zeta-Jones Tilda Swinton Mo'Nique
  16. Well, since George has an idea about who this is and I haven't, and he might have it right but he just didn't get the first name right I will throw out Pete Best.
  17. I'm getting the sense that this is a subliminal message by WordWolf of some sort. Or, maybe because he ended his post with an exclamation point he like is bewildered. That looks French so google tells me that, "La Marseillaise" is the National anthem of France. Not knowing any French, I dug a little deeper and tried to decipher whether somewhere in the song are the lyrics ("There's nothing you can do that can't be done") in my post are also in those lyrics, and after translating "La Marseillaise" to English I couldn't find any similarities. Now had they been the National anthem to say England, or even to the world, or for any nation, then, that would have made sense. So I guess what I'm saying is No.
