There's no maybe about it. Yes, Bernie Taupin lyrics with composition by Elton Hercules John. -
I guess so then. It does seem to me though as you were describing the scenario that a president with that much wit and wisdom would be Abraham Lincoln. How about President Lincoln and General Ambrose Burnside? I haven't read a lot about Grant, he would seem obvious, but I don't think Ulysses S Grant stopped drinking?

Yes they did.

Next song: And he likes his own backyard, And he likes his fags the best, 'Cause he's better than the rest, And his own sweat smells the best, And he hopes to grab his father's loot, When Pater passes on.

I got the group now, Blind Faith and just need to come up with the title. "Can't Find My Way Back Home" They're not really in my wheelhouse, I knew of them because a couple of guys I knew had their album. I remember the cover is all. I took me awhile before I could hear the song in my brain but like most songs, if you've heard them enough usually the lyrics become clear in your head enough to recognize.

The name of the group doesn't really matter yet. Once I get the title I should know the group.

Okay well I was thinking "Something's (or Somebody's) Got To Change"? I'm gonna step back from this now. I need to hear more of the song (in my head first) to get it. It might be Procol Harum.

I think it's Steve Winwood isn't it? Or Traffic. I'll hone it down in a bit and get back to this.

I know it because a radio station that plays "oldies' I'm listening to plays a fair amount of Sonny & Cher, and Cher. I can remember when I was a young kid growing up in the city walking by the DJ station downtown. They did the show right there behind the window glass and you could stand there on the sidewalk and check them out. Well they went off the air, I think it was an AM channel then, in the late 70's, but as of 2014 they have a new FM call sign and have been broadcasting again. It's cool, they play the old commercials from the 60's and 70's like Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, which bring back good memories. Next song: Blue Jean baby, LA lady, seamstress for the band -
I can almost hear the singer in the song singing it. It may take me a few days. I may hear it on the radio. You never know.

Another line should do it then, "Seventy-three men sailed up From the San Francisco Bay Rolled off of their ship, and here's what they had to say" -
You're up Nathan, if you want it.

Is anyone puzzled or waiting for a clue or are they out of songs? -
Yeah I get it, yeah, I get it. Thanks for speaking for Raf. It don't matter anyway. Yeah, this is a fact, but it shouldn't matter anyway, even though I used the term "actor" by choice, because I tried clearing up that confusion when I posted and I was just trying to refrain from referring and using the term "actresses" because they're also actors. I get it. Can we stop kicking a dead horse now? Come on guys, pull up your big boy pants and move on. Or not. Which ever. I don't care. I mean I don't care to hear it anymore (now who will it be to re-post again something in response to my latest post) about this in this particular case. Please stop it. Raf is up.

Yep. Sad to hear about the passing of David Crosby. There are still many great rockers who are still around in their 80's as he was.

"Tearing yourself away from me now You are free and I am crying This does not mean I don't love you I do, that's forever"
