Your going to need a hint George. The songs been around, got lots of air play back in the day. The song wasn't released as a single because it was 11 minutes long. It did get played a lot of FM radio. Hint: It on the yellow brick road but not the one Judy Garland walked on.

I was beginning to think that I had been transported into another universe where no one remembered ever hearing of ~Supertramp~ or much less ever hearing of The Logical Song, The Long Way Home, Goodbye Stranger, or Breakfast in America, of my favorite Dreamer. I'm so glad I wasn't sent into outer space. Let' see, huh? Here's one. The roses in the window box Have tilted to one side Everything about this house Was born to grow and die Oh it doesn't seem a year ago To this very day You said I'm sorry honey If I don't change the pace I can't face another day

Let's go ahead and call this good then since I figured only WordWolf may have any idea what this one was. The Logical Song ~Supertramp~ from the Breakfast In America album. Circa 1978.
-
That's not even close WordWolf however it is actually very close to the right answer. In those three words "The Obvious Song" two of them are in my clue. Go figure.

No it's not Frampton. I think you may have the wrong title in mind (I think.)

When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful A miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily Oh joyfully, playfully watching me

~Kansas~ Dust in the Wind. When I read "all your money won't another minute buy" it popped into my head.

Go ahead and take a crack at it now WW.

American Bandstand is my guess.

Everybody's a dreamer and everybody's a star And everybody's in movies, it doesn't matter who you are There are starts in every city In every house and on every street And if you walk down Hollywood Boulevard Their names are written in concrete Don't step on Greta Garbo as you walk down the Boulevard She looks so weak and fragile that's why she tried to be so hard But they turned her into a princess And they sat her on a throne But she turned her back on stardom Because she wanted to be alone

Ok I got it this time. Itchycoo Park by ~The Small Faces~ was a song that their music label chose to release without asking the band who felt it was too pop ( they were probably right) and that is the image that they were trying to rid themselves of. The lead singer grew up in England and ran around in cut off shorts where patches of stinging nettles were and got the idea of itching from that experience and wrote this song.
-
OK wrong song but right group. The Small Faces. Now give me a second and I will post the correct song. This one is called Toy Soldier.
-
I'll be back in a bit, I've got to get some itch relief medicine. I just ran through a patch of stinging nettles.
-
Well nobody knows every song or every group do they? Take away their first name and add Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart to the band and that's who they became. It's no Ape Man I will give you that. But still groovy.

I remember hearing that the inspiration for "Sweet Caroline" by Neil Diamond was JFK"s daughter. I feel inclined to blow my mindGet hung up, feed the ducks with a bunThey all come out to groove aboutBe nice and have fun in the sun I'll tell you what I'll do (What will you do?)I'd like to go there now with youYou can miss out school (Won't that be cool?)Why go to learn the words of fools? (What will we do there?) We'll get high(What will we touch there?) We'll touch the sky(But why the tears there?) I'll tell you whyIt's all too beautifulIt's all too beautifulIt's all too beautifulIt's all too beautiful
