Ok I got it this time. Itchycoo Park by ~The Small Faces~ was a song that their music label chose to release without asking the band who felt it was too pop ( they were probably right) and that is the image that they were trying to rid themselves of. The lead singer grew up in England and ran around in cut off shorts where patches of stinging nettles were and got the idea of itching from that experience and wrote this song.

Some of the funniest movies I like to watch are There's Something About Mary and The 40 yr old Virgin. Both are off the wall and absurdly funny. Sometimes crude, sometimes blatantly rude, sometimes taking shots at "exception people" [mentally challenged] a Coen Brother's trademark in the case of TSAM or the "speed dating" scenes of Steve Carell trying to get laid or of his "getting waxed" in 40 yr.Virgin all make for hilarious and highly entertaining movie watching.

Yeah, that's exactly right, most of the programs on TV are rubbish and not worth the time wasted watching it. I haven't watched many movies over the internet, only a couple of times at most. If I watch anything at all it's around the fall when the new series arrive or a sporting event, e.q. Olympics, Baseball, (only the post-season), football and golf, a new tv comedy show I like, called "I'm Sorry". Other than those, I spent most of my time doing things outdoors, or at my part-time job or online. Speaking of that evil box I bought a new 48" flat screen TV a few weeks ago not for any reason really, I just figured why not? I set it up and I was really amazed how lightweight it was (16lb) and it had all the buttons, bells, and whistle's with all the current state of the art technology. (All I could do was turn it off and on) Somebody took it out of the box before I bought it and I got 20% off. That was a good deal. I set it on our coffee table on it's stand which surprisingly felt very stable in the front of the fireplace, not worried about anything seemed pet friendly enough even for a small cat. The other day I woke up out of a deep sleep to a crashing sound like my china hutch fell over and when I got up and walked into the next room there was my small cat standing on the back of the TV which was face down on the hardwood floor looking up as if to say to me, "There's nothing going on here". It's difficult to assess how she did it but I assume she stepped off the hearth or fireplace mantel to see if she could walk on it (about 3/4 of an inch) and when she did she discovered gravity. Needless to say those TV's are not designed to withstand that kind of an impact and the TV was toast. The whole thing was shot. I'm over it. But I probably will buy another down the road sometime because I enjoyed the picture quality so well. The only exception will be I will anchor it to the wall.

Another movie I'll watch at least 2 or 3 times a year is Finding Forrester. One of Sean Connery's last movies. Of course he's retired now and not dead.

So before we get too far off track here Grace I didn't begin this thread to discuss which are the good actors that we have now. Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, and Meryl Streep are all fine actors. We know that they are fine actors because they have been around now for awhile. But what I would like to discuss is where are the good actors and actresses we have now and will they be around for 40 years like DeNiro, Pacino, Hoffman, and Streep or Hackman, Nicholson, Hanks or Eastwood, Emma Thompson or Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon, or Sally Fields?

And who may they might be Grace? I don't disagree with you on that, I honestly don't know who they are. Some actors and actresses are so good at concealing their native accents that I never really pick up that they are actually foreign. Case in point, Guy Pierce has been in numerous movies like The Time Machine, L A Confidential, Prometheus, but I never realized that he was British.

So what's that like Twinky without a tv? I've heard of people who do not have a tv, Vincent Vega in Pulp Fiction didn't watch tv, but what does a real boy in this day and age supplement himself with instead of the great big wide spectacular 64in" color TV? How does that work? Are you a monk? Are you in television and don't want to associate with it? That's quite a feat if you really don't have one!

I thought that NZ meant nazi until I read this. Now that must be New Zealand. It puts a different light on the subject now. That subject however doesn't appeal to me as I've never seen any of this particular franchise.

He didn't say several times George he said a couple of times. And there's a difference. I watch some movies several times (5 or 6 or 10) maybe because they're on TV or cable and I like them. But I watch a couple of movies a couple of times every year because they are my favorite movies. For instance, "How to lose a guy in 10 days', no not even close. I watch Frequency, When Harry Met Sally, Sense and Sensibility, Pulp Fiction, Office Space and Stranger Than Fiction regularly throughout the year.

And that is totally my fault Twinky and I take the blame for that. I did have women in mind though when I posted this thread, but I got off track with it. Meryl Streep is a fine actress and versatility is the key to her success. What would anyone say about an actress ( I still have issues with the actor vs actress thing, they're actresses to me and always have been) like Cate Blanchett who has imo certainly gotten better and better as she has gone on in her career? I would certainly put her in the range where they have perfected their craft and become good actresses who may become great. I think this is due In part to them not taking the role for the sake of their starmeter on IMDB but are instead selecting and playing roles that are enriching and rewarding both for them and their audiences. Other actresses that might fit into this profile are Rachel Weisz (The Whistleblower,The Constant Gardener) and Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men, The Handmaid's Tale).
