I wouldn't really know what peppy is but were looking for something depressing, dead, dark and dreary.. a number on from the 90's..upbeat...Bittersweet Symphony is dark but not upbeat, Nirvana Smells Like Teen Spirit isn't peppy (whatever that means) but its dreary.
