Maybe the preponderance of clues is all about us --- as in all the references to "FAIL" & "You're Doing it All Wrong!"

The Way Ministry is a case of a bunch of people that did in fact - kill the goose that laid the golden egg. It is now run by a frightened group of people (the remaining salaried workers) & then there's the volunteers. Most of them that are any good will eventually part company with The Way when they figure out how they're being used to feed a corrupt leadership, Even leaders and staff will. The rotton ones will stay if they can find a way to take advantage of the situation they find themselves in. The subject here is Debt and I'm not just running an end run around the subject. The smaller The Way Ministry is, the more important is becomes to them to push on people for ABS. 10% and you're safe from M&A or today's equivalent (excommunication,... lol) ~ you're not standing with the household now, until you pony up the 20% after all........ Beyond Rent, Bills, Taxes and reasonable expenses, the average person is lucky to have 20% of their income as disposable. When it gets to the point that your ABS can't be forthcoming (God forbid anything unexpected happens),.... well then, your ABS becomes your debt, your standing with the "Household" is threatened. You live in fear that they won't want you anymore, that they will come after you for the money you don't have (shouldn't have bought those moonpies...). Your debt becomes something which the Way Ministry fabricated, You give it grudgingly, because the people in leadership roles demand it. Oh - nicely at first, maybe you just need some more teaching,... something to read.... It's exactly the opposite of what God intended. Especially if the person in question is poor. Who shall seperate us from the love of God? The Way's Collection Agency.......?

I find what someone said about the power of the one who can forgive over anotherinteresting, but it's absolutely true. Now most of you don't know this (shhhhhhh!!!) ......but I can be quite a pest at times IRL. when My father was alive I used to drop in at his house unannounced and tease the hell out of him (hey,... he gave me a key, yanno? - obviously HIS mistake), but let me tell you,... if I went too far not that I ever, ever would do that and he decided I had, ...well then things were a bit touch and go between us... .....and I would do anything I had to, to get back in his good graces. Fortunately, he didn't USE that situation against me, and always made it easy, by forgiving me. Makes me think. Did any of you guys feel that indebted to any of the Way people. MeGawds, the power that would have given them over you.

First,... Forgiveness seems such a simple concept, because it actually is. It's can be very difficult to implement in practical living though, depending on the circumstances of the offense. Of course the only way to rid the world of the need for forgiveness, is to remove free choice. That way, no one can do something which will injure someone else, they'll always do good and the entire concept of forgiveness will be meaningless to us any longer. Second,... Forgiving someone is different than fixing anything. Whether someone has been forgiven or not, consequences may still arise, because nothing was actually "fixed" by forgiving that person. Likewise, when God forgives us - nothing is fixed - we're just forgiven. Being forgiven does allow for rebuilding a relationship, but it never guarantees it. Third,... saying you've forgiven someone, is different from forgiving someone. God asks us to be forgiving, It can be horrendously difficult to learn how to successfully forgive someone, sometimes.

A lot of this stuff I read, and I find the experiences many of you lived through difficult to completely comprehend personally. For all my own problems, I've led a charmed life in comparison. bowtwi, I am glad you are reclaiming your life. I know, I sometimes make flippant replies to things (it's my nature, my way of dealing with things), BUT I FEEL LIKE CHEERING FOR YOU !!! Your story resonates,... you are a gifted storyteller, and that is quite a compliment.
