NY Yankees 9-3 after beating TX today. If SF loses to LA, we will begin the week tomorrow with the best record in baseball. Yeah, I know it's early...but we're not even running running on all cylinders yet. You're all gonna hate me by the time the All-Star break comes around.

The Way of today isn't anything like Martindale's way
soul searcher replied to Twinky's topic in About The Way
I thought about what you said above while I was typing. Since I don't personally know LCM (or any other person who was ever in TWI, except one) it's possible that he was a guy who was compensating for a childhood in which he was abused or bullied. I have no way of knowing. At any rate, going from what I've read about him on these boards and the stuff my ex-Way friend told me...I would say, yeah, he's a guy who needs his azz kicked. -

Sometimes I think that what this LCM guy was missing in his life was someone to teach him some manners. A good beating somewhere along the way might have accomplished that. -

Yet (and please excuse my ignorance) it's run by a woman who is a lesbian? Do I have this right? (edited because I just re-read chockfull's post and answered my own question) I just don't get it. Then again, I can be a dumbazz at times. -
Just a great song...

And do it with a smile! :)

Every day I read the news, and every day I sing this song... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dev7yoxlK-s

I hear you, man. That would bother me too. I don't know what state you live in but New York is what they call an "employment-at-will" state (or something like that) which means that, without a contract or union to protect you, an employer can hire or fire you any time they want for any reason (assuming it is not discriminatory in any way, in which case the burden of proof would be on you to show discrimination). So the question(s) would not be whether it's legal, it would be more along the lines of how badly do you need the job and how likely are you to suffer any ramifications of not attending this event?

Now there's a segue: Bobby Sherman into Van Der Graff Generator.

And, because I tend to think in threes (and it doesn't get any more bubblegum than this)... I am now done embarrasing myself for the night.

More ear candy from 1970. I guess a Canadian might not consider this bubblegum pop but I always did. Just the same, I love this song.

Forty years ago I was still listening to AM radio and bubblegum pop. And I still love this song...

My favorite book of the bible, so far, is the first one I read: Lamentations. It sort of hooked me. Solomon's Songs also.

The Way of today isn't anything like Martindale's way
soul searcher replied to Twinky's topic in About The Way
I've said this before, but one of the more curious and rather distasteful personality traits that my ex-Way friend seemed to have acquired during her twenty-year plus stay in The Way was this irrational condemnation of gay people. I guess I tend to overlook negative personality traits in people I like. -
I think I agree with you. So would you say, for example, that God did NOT hurl large hailstones at retreating Amorites (see Joshua), or that Moses and the Levites did not, in fact, execute 3,000 "brothers, friends and neighbors" (Exodus)? Because a non-literal reading would solve a lot of the problems I have with the OT stories. I'm just curious what you think. I, myself, don't know what I think. :)

Yeah, all that. +100 -
Okay, so maybe I got a little too crazy with that last song post. My kids wouldn't be very proud of me if they read it. I wish to atone... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6pphVs8bF0

The sample is from Dusty Springfield's "Son of a Preacher Man". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmjXY1BDMEA

Jeff Beck on lead guitar...

It better be in grand style. He's batting .111. Yikes!

Geisha, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the players on the Minnesota Twins don't like to be referred to as "Twinkies". I mean, really, is that what the fans in Minnesota call them? :)

That's for sure. I always had trouble with that. I would say yes, in most instances.
