Gold Coast slave ship bound for cotton fields -
We tend to think of "famous" musicians and songwriters as commercially and financially successful even though, more often than not, the musician gets screwed. It seems to me that in the olden days before recording was invented, musicians and songwriters (I'm thinking minstrels and such) were generally not wealthy individuals. Stephen Foster, one of the earliest and most famous American pop songwriters, died p*ss poor. Sad story.

In two or three words.. why are you here. (existence, not GS)

I actually meant it as "copulation", as opposed to "reproduction", though reproduction is of supreme importance. But then again, animals like to copulate and reproduce, so that doesn't make us special in any way. [Just thinking out loud...] But we differ from animals in that we have a pre-frontal cortex in our brains, which allows us to think abstractly and stuff... So...I am here to enjoy the earth and other people and to create other people who want to enjoy the earth and other people. Not all of us will succeed in reproduction, but we will have lots of fun trying. I am also here to play softball. Not many 50+ year-olds can still do it. -

Brown Eyed Girl? -
Based on a sample size of N=1 (i.e., the one and only Wayfer I ever knew) I'd have to go with #2. But that certainly isn't the only reason she lied to me. [And whatever she said to her family, I'll never know...blah blah blah It's not my business anyway.] It's also easier to lie when live hundreds of miles away from someone.

That could be a variant of an old blues; i.e, Love In Vain ("Well I followed her, to the station, with a suitcase in my hand")

If there is a reason, then the reason is to procreate. -

your turn... -
I went into the chat room last Saturday night about 8:30 pm (EDT) but there was nobody there so I walked away from the computer. Well, I completely forgot about the computer, fell asleep in front of the TV and when I came back around 3 AM to shut down the computer I was fascinated to see that quite a few forumers had come in, hung out, chatted, and left. So the room was empty when I went in and empty when I went out. (I actually learned quite a bit about a few of you from reading the chats that went on.) It looked like it was quite a party. Sorry I missed you all.

Kind of a strange piece to be playing on banjo, isn't it? Try Aaron Copland's "Hoedown" if you want to do classical on your banjo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqah1rucyRg

Mellow Yellow - Donovan Come out Virginia, don't let me wait You Catholic girls start much too late Looks like you beat me by 2 or 3 minutes. Anyway, your song is "California Dreaming". Let's go with the clue I posted above yours. -
Can we have another clue?
-
No, the clue was the phrase "coke and sympathy" from Let It Bleed. The movie I was referring to was "Tea and Sympathy". FREE POST!

come on, guys! http://www.zimbio.com/watch/4ujzgtWS76P/Tea+And+Sympathy/Tea+And+Sympathy Tea and Sympathy I know it sounds corny but the ending will rock you.

pretty cool....there's little doubt as to Muddy's intentions

"And there will always be a space in my parking lot When you need a little coke and sympathy" I suppose one has either heard of the movie or they haven't. It's from 1956.
