  1. Wow, did Bonaparte get a writing credit on Copland's "Hoedown"? Awesome piece.
  2. He is the god of nothing If that's all that you can see You are the god of everything He's inside you and me
  3. When the world must come together as one There are people dying
  4. Listen To the Music - Doobie Brothers There comes a time When we heed a certain call
  5. Who Are You? - The Who People what have you done? Locked Him in His golden cage Made Him bend to your religion Him resurrected from the grave
  6. I think music is also like scripture in that it is not perfect or "inerrant." I wrote this in another thread... As far as the bible being "perfect"...how can it be? Taking music as an example, a musical piece may be perfect when represented on paper with musical notes. Is every performance of the song perfect? Not any more "perfect" than the men and women who perform it. Is any performance of it ever "perfect" in a mathematical sense? I don't think so (but there is beauty in that imperfection!).
  7. That version of "Sugaree" was pretty good but I like the studio version much better. I used to be a huge Deadhead -- they were the first concert I ever saw...March 1973 at the Nassau Coliseum, Long Island, NY. But I've taken a revisionist view of their work in recent years...and my tastes have changed, I must admit. I heard -- and I don't know this for a fact -- that the vocals on Europe '72 were overlaid on top of the live tracks in the studio. (That would explain why they sounded so good on that live album because their vocals generally s---, um, let's just say they weren't very good.) But I still think that Garcia was one of the great rock guitarists and wrote many fantastic songs. My favorite album is American Beauty.
  8. One thing I was surprised to learn recently is that Jews make up only about 0.23% of the world's poulation. I found that interesting.
  9. Ahh, leave Bernie alone. He's a good guy, and a good guitarist, too. So are you rooting for the Yanks or the Rays to win the American League East? P.S. What happened to Bolshevik?
  10. Complete first verse: We can never know about the days to come But we think about them anyway And I wonder if I'm really with you now Or just chasin' after some finer day
  11. Nope. Ahh, screw it. Here's the best scene in the movie. The Devil Wears Prada.
  12. Hmm...you're right. This one might give it away... Tell Simone I'm not going to approve that girl that she sent me for the Brazilian layout. I asked for clean, athletic, smiling. She sent me dirty, tired and paunchy.
  13. You're So Vain - Carly Simon We can never know about the days to come
  14. I knew what it was before I even clicked on it. The thing I like about ol' Captain Kirk is that you can tell he actually enjoys being a parody of himself.
  15. Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun. Shine on you crazy diamond. Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky. Shine on you crazy diamond. --Pink Floyd The song is what -- a 13-bar blues in minor key with chorus? :B) Awesome guitar work, too.
  16. Who is that *sad* little person? Are we doing a before-and-after piece I don't know about?
  17. I think that was from White Heat with James Cagney.
