  1. Bullshonta is my favorite sniglet ever.
  2. In order for Undertow to intrepret itself you have to read the entire thing.
  3. Are you reading it with a top down approach? Or a down top approach? Or a down over yonder approach? You gonna take 40 years to read Undertow? You were "slowly" reading it in 2018....welll...ok den....
  4. That it is. God did not make the Bible complex where it takes some guru to intrepret it for us, like wanna be st vic. It's really a matter of opening up the book and reading the words. So why is scripture build-up, as fundies call it, so complex? For example: Does it take a scientist to take a concept and see how it develops through scripture, over time? Or is that more along the lines of basic common sense? May as well adress this too. Wierwilleites like to say that secular history and secular works should be ignored in favor of scripture only. But how then do people with a western way of thinking understand an eastern book? Eastern people think way differently than those from the west who are influenced heavily by Greek and Latin. Greek for example, is especially precise in it's wording and descriptiveness - especially Koine Greek as opposed to Classical Greek. Eastern people tend to see thing pictorially and rely heavily on symbols, and emotion to communicate. (This split carries into Christian circles too with the differences in Eastern Orthodox Churches and Western Churches that spawned from Rome into Europe and beyond.) Example: Jesus telling his disciples to pluck out their eye if it offends them. The emphasis of the figure of speech is on standing your ground and not allowing any offense to God in your life, as much as you are able, even to the point of plucking out an eyeball. Westerners typically tend to not communicate in this manner that was typical amongst middle eastern cultures. Perhaps a western way of expressing the same emphasis would be "Stand your ground against sin no matter the cost!" So, Mike, how in the eff can I understand a book that is from half way around the world, loaded with Hebraic figures of speech, ancient history, etc. if I don't understand these basic tenets?
  5. All of the later writers knew the Old Testament like the back of their hands....kinda gave God a lot more to work with. Did God actually pen the words? No. And he actually allowed various authors to interject what they had tosay from time to time...such as Paul saying he was speaking by permission and not commandment. So --- it is between 35 and 40 authors and God credits them in the works themselves.
  6. Its actually closer to 40 authors with one source of inspiration.
  7. Out of curiosity, where you skimming for something you didn't agree with, found it, and shut your mind down because her book challenges the validity of your cult leader and his cult?
  8. Thanks! It seems to me that fundamentalism sets up false expectations on scripture. Original perfection being lost through imperfect beings, for example. I have no doubt God's thoughts are perfect as is everything else about him. However, he is communicating to imperfect beings who are imperfect in most all they do....or perhaps everything. While the original revelation could have been perfect as it was originally given does that eliminate all imperfections possible from an imperfect creation that received the revelation? Does scripture ever explicitly state that scripture was perfect at it's inception and then lost to imperfect creations? Perhaps this is one of the reasons we are told to study to show ourselves approved? Rhetorical questions, but thoughts for consideration just the same. My questions do not cheapen the Bible -- if God's power and perfection can redeem the imperfect then it speaks to God's awesomeness that he was able to do it through a sea of imperfect men and the creation of one perfect man (Jesus Christ) to carry the burdens the imperfect were unable to bear.
  9. Nah...Im not accepting assignments at the moment. Heck, I already did and you did the backstroke better than Michael Phelps.
  10. You are appalled because cognitive dissonance causes you to get agitated with reality. It is inspired by the same author - God - over a 1500 year period, through various cultures, languages, empirees....etc. Yet the books still retain the names of their author's because God GAVE them credit for writing down what he inspired in them. That's a lot more than VPW ever did -- he gave nobody credit but himself. It would be a wise choice to try and understand the Bible for what it is, and how it actually came into being in the form we recognize today. But the problem with so called Biblical research as practised by the way is they like to change everything else to match their premise.
  11. No, you contradict yourself constantly. Especially when someone calls you out on it.
  12. You also get caught contradicting yourself by various people here...if u wanna call that a position change....ya ok then
  13. I think it would be more to the point that I have no desire to spend time reading a lot of changed positions every other day. Youve been working on this for nearly 50 years and are still flip flopping positions? Why would I take the time to keep up with that? I change my own mind enough for the both of us.
  14. That's exactly how you start out your research. By AVOIDING secular sources and HISTORICAL writings. Im sure you did that because secular sources and historical writings would prove your postulate to be in extreme error.
  15. Thats nice. I like to believe in the tooth fairy and unicorns. There's a lot of structure and content on these two topics that has led me to believe in their existance. You see how that works? No proof needed, let's ignore history and all secular sources on the subject and then I can bend my entire reality to suit what I think is true.
  16. That sure sums it up in a nice, consice manner. Especially, the part about stroked egos. I used to cringe during placements and leaders meetings when the cabinet and region guys were on break, circle... each other. You would hear comments where they talked about people in their regions/cabinet areas as if those people belonged to them, like it was their "spiritual responsibility" to lord over them and boss them around. Disgusting. I think that's why a lot of ex-corps start offshoots. Gotta have that ego strokes, I mean, how else can you demand people stand when you walk in the room and make sure you can sit down in front while everyone else stands for class pictures and such. Oh the adulation.
  17. Everything you say after this point is null and void. What the heck kind of paper on canonization of our bible books ignores reality? This is one of the BIGGEST problems with pflap and other wierwille works...you can't ignore history and secular sources. Granted, scripture can take precedence over historical writings and secular sources but thats more or less an exception to the rule and not the norm -- unless your a wierwille follower. It's called the Word of Life for a reason - history and seuclar sources are part of life...so why in the eff and eff would you ignore them? Heck - even the Bible has history and secular sources in it.
  18. Very true. Then to boot, you have all those BS devil spirit categories from the advanced class that they use to devour one another. Instead of casting out the spirits, they ostracize and cast out people because they supposedly have spirits. What could go wrong there?
  19. Awesome posts guys! If one is to follow the official propognda put out by the way international then they remain blind to the obvious - TWI is about making MONEY - especially back in Vics day. They ran through those donations with reckless abandon all the way up to the lawsuits - So that includes Criag, Donna, Rosalie, et. al. Once the lawyers were involved they introduced legalese such as "private inurement" into the system. So yeah, it's still a gravy train for the inner circle - they have just kinda quited down all the illegal spending. They try to make it seem legit. Like Rosalie paying TWI $10 a pop to have the grounds department mow her property. Considering the size, she would have easlily paid $50 or more. But that punk butt $10 leaves a paper trail where they can say -- "See...I paid." So yeah, they paid their lawyers God knows what sort of $$ out of donations from their followers to learn how to get over on their own system and get away with it. How's that for your abundant swharing at work. One thing is for sure: most long standing way corps have nowhere else to go and really can't fit in very well anywhere else. They NEEED that headquarters lifestyle - they are too vested to do anything else.
  20. Ive learned to put on my readers. I used to accept things at face value and that led me to rush headlong into TWI, way corps, etc. To be clear though, there are a lot of things I learned in the way corps/way corps training that benefit me to this day. However, in the big picture I could have had similar experiences without signing my life over to be heavily micromanaged for four years. But - yes - today I check everything out and really try to poke all kinds of holes in whatever I am into.
  21. Do you really think any of us go and carry out the homework assignments you give? If you want me to read it then post it all at once or as an attachment so I can actually read it with continuity. How/why was john the Baptist a weirdo?
  22. Hold up...I read right past this little golden nugget. You mean to tell me that he pulled the unforgiveable sin from early PFLAP classes? Cause I had no idea. I was exposed to the concept from reading the collaterials and absolutely freaked the eff out when I read it. In the mid-90s craig had all the information on seed of the serpent in the DTA and advanced classes. Im not sure if TWI even teaches it anymore.
  23. Wow...your post is absolutely heartfelt and powerful!! Thanks!
  24. thanks!! Really apprecaiate ya! I would LOVE to have that guitar to this very day. Still regret that move and will likely regret it the rest of my life.
