Cool ..I'll check out Ken Kesey a little further...didn't know there was a Dead connection and only though of him in light Of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest...classic movie but I believe he wrote the novel.
-
Sounds fun! I was def a Dead fan...of course waaay back then psychedelics were involved...lol...they're actually more enjoyable sober. Sounds like a fun group.
-
Cool! Keep on keeping on. My main hobbies these days are musical. Lead guitarist and Im learning to sing...which strangely sounds like a tortured cat at times but Im getting there...lol

Wrong all the way across the board. Wierwille and pflap have an obvious glaring error and u refuse to see it and retort with an imagined reality that u likely call spiritual...as in spiritual perspective or whatever ..this is why I call out confirmation bias and cognitive dissonance when I see it...and it's something I'm working through in my own life so no fingers pointed anywhere.
-
Its interesting wierwille was likely referring to the Textus Receptus if we go by the fifth century reference. Westcott-Hort used Codex Sinaticus and Codex Vaticanus that dates a century earlier as you noted. Yet - wierwille appearantly either didnt know this at the time pflap was published or was simply mistaken when pflap was published and forgot about westcott-hort or...yeah, who really knows. But wierwille was not a KJV only kinda guy, though he insisted his followers used a KJV with heavily edited center margins, like some kind of custom Scofield type study bible based on way theology that always seemed to be largely unintelligible cause the notes had to be written so small..I digress...Wierwille uses Westcott-Hort interchangeably throughout his publications and especially when it suited him...makes me wonder if he knew the difference until much later when he had people like Walter Cummins around who had a real education This clearly shows either ignorance or sloppy writing with no cross checking by the author...mmmm...this your guiding light mike? wierwille had a doctorate?....

Great post... Mike -- With this said is there a certain attitude that makes it all work vs. an attitude that doesnt that you referred to? Oh...I bet Mike quotes an entirely different section from pflap to try and cover this glaring error and say this isnt what he was talking about or whatever he can do to obfuscate. I dont think he does it malicously .. it just a reaction when his unquestionable views are questioned. Unquestionable by mike.

We should get back on topic.

Your welcome!

I have electronic or paperback copies of all that I critiscize...and Im still not answering your question for you or spending anymore time in those books than needed...
-
Well...I'm not going to say what they are...I might have a newer version where something's been edited out. So Mike would need to list em.
-
I'm interested in the attitudes and how attitudes affect methods. Emotional attitude? Mental attitude? ... Thx.
-
Also...what attitudes...?
-
Which is what...your being purposely elusive. Are you talking about keys to the words intrepretation in pfal?
-
I disagree...I think the behaviours are directly proportional to the doctrines...wierwille wrapped his actions in doctrinal error at most every turn as far as I can tell.
-
Please enumerate said methods and attitudes..that would be a service to me cause there's lots of methods and attitudes...are methods nullified by attitudes? I guess what's the relation. I would think intellectual honesty would be more important but hey...I'm listening.
-
May I ask why you are here? We discuss the collaterals often enough but the list of error is long.

Im not so sure I would call it an absolute truth. There is so much I don't understand on the topic that I refuse to close my mind off to other possibilities...for me it's a faith issue based on my limited understanding of scripture. There's God saying that man will die once he sins. Why would there be a need for resurections and all that stuff if everyone is alive already. I have faith in God's Word that dead=lack of consciousness or existance. Does that mean I understand everything on the subject or what actually happens when a person dies? No. So with that said, there's much to be understood that I simply don't know.
-
Not to be picky either, but theres a couple hours between a person's last breath and rigor mortise...I do not think there is conscioness during that time.
-
None of the above...simply what I quoted. That death is a state of unconsciousness.
-
Im inclined to agree with you on this one..but I would rather save it for later.
-
Hi, my name is Oldskool and you now know someone who is an advocate of critical thinking skills and I know just what to do when the test is passed...It results in faith when applied to scripture. It never means its above question -- faith and inquiry are not mutually exclusive. Truth is truth...it should stand to questions at any point without folding, getting defensive, or whatever. Problem is when you apply critical thinking to wierwille and compare it with scripture (not wierwilles' version of scripture) wierwille usually doesnt stand as true. Sure, he has some truth...but a little leaven leaveneth the entire lump...not my words...but I have no problem repeating them in this context.

Im down with that. I can do my part to be less snarky..Im a very direct person at times, but I am also a project manager in the construction industry where directness = survival. This is not that environment. Cheers!

Mike -- most people have a honeymoon phase (as I call it) in that little cornfielf cult. Apperantly you had the same experiences...except the savage wolves were there all along and it wasnt until later that you noticed...my experiences were the same. Except you can't see that the savage wolves cobbed together the savage doctrines they savagely teach and the end result is people are led away from Christ. That's the part I wish you could see...but yeah...
