He breathed the breath of life in man's nostrils and yet we became corrupted. I feel it's an unrealistic expectation to think the Bible is perfect because its inspired of God through imperfect beings, us. 2 Timothy 2:16,17 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 17And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some Wierwille has cobbled books together based on profane and vain babblings such as the law of believing, etc. That people's trust in God/scripture is overthrown should be no surprise. -
Jesus taught by their fruits you shall know them in relation to ravenous wolves like wierwille so we can know to avoid them at all costs. Not they produce putrid fruit but teach God's word..so give heed.

Your assuming a lot that what wierwille taught is agreement with scripture.

As I said...if it's biblical it's in the Bible and no wierwille needed. Why prop a false prophet?

There are copious instructions and qualifications to govern Church leadership's behavior. They are held to a higher standard. And yes, if a person lives like the devil and quotes bible verses they are false in every which way. Part of leadership role in the Church is to set an example in conduct and not word only.

Promised Relief: Broken Promises from the Way International

I was the most miserable and meanest when I was drinking because as an alcoholic I couldn't stop. I knew how wrong I was but lacked the fortitude to quit drinking because I liked it too much. My rock bottom caused enough pain to hate the outcome more than I loved the poison. Consider wierwille in the same light.... -

I cant say I have a dog in the race between you and Bolshevik but if it's any merit the way he posts is pretty much how he is. I can say for a fact that hes not trolling. Bolsh is both highly educated and intelligent so I think you guys may be doing the dosy do over a personality conflict or something along those lines. -

I feel the simple answer is wierwille tried to take the place of Christ. God directs us to Jesus Christ, so any attempts to climb up some other way make a person a thief and robber according to scripture. wierwille never pointed the way to Jesus Christ because then wierwille couldnt have been some great one standing next to God, instead he would have been a servant of Christ, something he didn't want for himself appearantly. I understand your questions are likely rhetorical, but I figured I would "think aloud" for a second... -

It's interesting to consider, they told us in advance what we were getting into with statements like the "greatest leaders are the greatest followers". While it's true that leadership typically function in a chain of command where following the next higher up is needed, however, never never is the greatest leader the greatest follower because all I've seen the greatest followers do is look for direction that's safe and comfortable. True leadership can run against the grain at times not always offer safety and comfort to the egotistical follower. -

Kind of topic where Im taking this for a second, but worth noting. I have never in my life been involved with a group that has vetted it's leaders with a four year "training program" and supposedly given them the greatest spititual education on the planet and those same leaders are completely clueless on what it means to actually lead. What your sayin here Rocky, and the points are VALID, would require actual leadership. When I was at HQ the prevailing mantra amongst staffers (AC grads and corps alike) was "what did we do last year". Im quoting that statement as an example of the complete lack of leadership. Heck, the directors are just as clueless. I mean they did re-engage a marginal number of former, shunned grads, or grads who left, or whatever with a nostalgia based effort, but that effort is still leading by virtue of a rear view mirror. But it's a vicous cycle because only the way corps are allowed to lead and they cripple the way corps during our training with extreme followship that's called leadership. There is very little actual leadership in the way: HQ is flush with administrators, as Don Wierille called himself. But not leaders and it would take leadership to push aside institutional memory and plumb the depths of emotional intelligence and vulnerability. They would have to look past PFLAP and the collaterals and all things wierwille, which they cant because the lifesize bronze statue of wierwille in the auditorium says so. They are sheep without a shephard. -
well...Im off to stake myself to a bowl of ice cream.....Have a kind evening Sir-Loin-Of-Beef!
