  1. I'm bumping this up after some consideration from a post in The Way Corps vs The Marine Corps. The point in the afore mentioned post is the BOD at the way international DO NOT travel anywhere but sit by and "direct" the affairs of their little "church." The more I think about it, the apostles staying in Jerusalem may have been the start of their eventual troubles that we see later in the book of Acts when James tells Paul "see how many that believe and they are all zealous of the law." Maybe, just maybe that downfall is recorded in incremental steps throughout the book of Acts. Twinky has me considering the book of Acts in a new light and I believe she has some really good points for consideration. And along those lines, maybe the book of Acts isn't a blueprint after all? A blueprint is meant to be followed very meticulously. The best a person can do with acts is extrapolate principle and build on them where something similar in appearance results. Then one can say "it's like the first century church!" Back to the Apostles. I know of no record where Jesus taught them to stay in Jerusalem. I know of no record that authorized them to start a man made organization there either, yet we seem to see the shadow of one throughout the book. We do see the Lord Jesus directing the affairs of the Church. We see emphasized the personal nature of the believer's fellowship with the Father and with the Son. We see individuals told what to do by the lord as he directs the affairs of his body. Perhaps they should have went home instead of hanging around the temple? Good stuff.
  2. That's just stupid. And epic wonder is right on the money.
  3. ROFLMAO!! Yep sounds like apt qualifications for being Secretary/Treasurer (which is really 2 positions...lol) at the way international.
  4. What was his claim to fame anyways?...driving the coach? Driving Doc Vic around? Mmmmm....great ability....eh?
  5. I dunno, to me it's really an insult to the Marine Corps for these cornfield bone heads to compare some contrived piece of garbage like way corps training to the Marine Corps. I get the idea too, that a person would go anywhere and do anything for God at a moments notice. Yet, the directors hunker down in their homes and offices and let others know where the need to go. I know where the directors need to go. The need to goto Helen Waite.
  6. I went out once and blasted one out of it's nest. Hopefully, not relation to you Ham! I never could figure what ole' HA had up his a$$ when it came to squirrels...maybe it was a squirrel?...one can never really know about these things.
  7. Yes. And just to be clear there is a breaking down process called the first block. It's a 4 month period where things are VERY restrictive. This is where they exert total control over a person and then gradual loosen it a little in the second and third block. I thought I was going to lose my mind several times during the first block during both years. But there is no building you back up. A person is broken and then slowly reshaped into someone who will do whatever is needed for the directors...aka.. Rosalie.
  8. I was never a marine, but the in-residentured way corpse training is totally worthless. The degree a person "earns" is basically shredder food. Way Corps training: work / study program exercise geared towards a person with little time brush floss chart knowles breathing write a journal write spiritual partner letters pray for spiritual partners work in the in-residentured corpse garden on saturdays and evenings take a myriad of classes that are a shell of a real college level course repeat over and over again the way of abundance and power series spend much time in all things way ministry publications partake of many many forced sharings about what blessed "me" work in household responsibilities: basiclly departmental jobs to support the service work as a group in myriad work projects (at least the seemed innumerable) LEAD, unless your group gets a pass There is probably a little more or a little less now but that was the meat and potatoes of when I was there. I'll leave it to Gen2 to post a little real Marine lifestyle. Sorry to put on the spot Gen2...well not really but it sounded sincere for a second....no?....oh well... And for the record, living the training is worse that reading about it - by far. Had I known what lay in store I would NEVER have gone through with it! I almost forgot something: Way Corps Evaluations. These are completed by your department coordinators primarily with some REALLY loaded questions. Are the evals reviewed with you? Perhaps now, but I NEVER had one reviewed with me. I was told they were filled out from time to time. I had the displeasure of being responsible to fill out a LOT of them on apprentice and in-rez corps both. It was absolutely horrible. They are worded and designed to dig up dirt that can be used against people. I would wager they were written back in the day when the Okie Doofus wanted to thin the ranks. Great job Forehead! No one is left!! They are based on 1 Timothy 3 - a.k.a known as qualifications for leadership. On these evals, filled out by people who are supposed to know you from working with you for a few hours a day, the training is "tailored" to make sure you get what you "need."
  9. One can never discount the value!
  10. In this case, and IMO, they like being in the club. They like all the whispers, confidentiality, feelings of self-importance, delusions of grandeur that they are specially selected by God and spiritually responsible for others. The especially love to feel stressed and busy and that people are depending on them to do their very important part no matter how insignificant. And more than anything the love to mill amongst themselves enjoying the scent of each others arrogance as if they were honored their presence. Guess I could've just called them all narcissists but I was feeling somewhat literary.
  11. That is a quotable, quote. Thanks Gen2!
  12. I was told in confidence what happened. For his privacy I won't post it. However, you have no such obligation
  13. Ya, careful. Sound logic in the way international can be systemic if not checked.
  14. See, I never suggested or pressured anyone go into the way corps. I am probably the anomaly in all of this because I believed that if folks wanted to go then I could help them get there but if it wasn't their idea then what was the point. It would just be useless pressure on someone to do something they don't want to do. I take free will seriously. Reading that broke my heart. My condolences will hopefully do a little to recompense such an awful experience. Quota? Not to my knowledge. I don't know what motivates people to be that way. I have seen other way corps have these sort of opinions about what others should do. But never really understood why. I would love to learn a little more from folks who had pressure put on them to get new corps. Hypocrites! I never met one person who would stay in that environment on second longer than they had to. It's selective memory at best. Let's ignore all the control and feeling of incarceration and reminisce about how "wonderful" the times were. BULL$H17!! Perhaps they are just being the benevolent dictator. After all, that describes their master - Rosalie. Why not copy her. "We know what's best for you and you will know too if you obey what we are telling you!"
  15. It was emphasized to us that the program had changed, but from what to what and when was never stated. Perhaps this is for another thread. I would be interested in getting info from folks and working a very loose time line to document the changes. I understand that years ago there were way more classes and actually some educated people teaching. Thank God, praise Jesus, rub Buddha's belly, knock on wood, count your lucky stars, or whatever else you may want to do to express your thankfulness!
  16. Eeeks! Chcokfull, what year were you in-residentured way corps? I gotta tell you - I was in around 2000 to 2002 or so and except a couple of time slot changes that is EXACTLY what is was like.
  17. I agree and haven't read one of your posts in it's entirety. Maybe I have a short attention span.
  18. Sunday NIGHT Service was before my time in TWI and I have never been to one live. They were still in the evening when I first became involved with the way international. Then they moved the service to the afternoon. My point? Those are the two absolute WORST times to have a on going event that you want people to come to. I guess they chose the afternoon to account for the 250 mile radius coercion that used to take place. The realize now that they can't make anyone do anything they don't want to do, so the 250 mile radius requirement went bye-bye. But either way - horribly lame product, incredibly bad presentation, scripted and read from note cards content, etc. And to boot it's in the middle of the afternoon. EGADS!
  19. You wouldn't want to be around for squirrel thinning either.
  20. Probably all he knew about and thought other tribes were synonyms. Remember how big he was into synonyms?
  21. OMG, waysider. That's right up there with a way disciple / in-residence day. Maybe a little suckier, maybe a lot suckier.
  22. bliss - sorry

  23. I messaged you blisee with the details.

  24. I happened to have a picture of her hanging around.
