How much are Way "members" required to tithe?
OldSkool replied to citygirl99's topic in About The Way
Threads on the Peeler case You will be able to find others using the search function. Peeler lost the case but it is extremely revealing to see Rosalie lying under oath and read the testimony of how they harassed Mr. Peeler for percentages of his court settlements. -

This must be where the current board of dummies get the idea. Now, it has turned into this romanticized idea of "biblical research" being someone sitting in a library, with a table full of books and a bible opened up as they take notes in the little spiral notebook. Of course no research actually happens at HQ any longer. Biblical re-search is what they do now, comparing new teachings with old ones to make sure no one is contradicting proven ministry research. After all, once it's proven true there it is considered truth and truth does not change. Hold up...I need a little more kool-aid

Welcome aboard, Calavicci!! That whole spiel on negative believing / positive believing is complete crap. Once I dropped that belief I was able to enjoy life again without thinking that somehow all of life was being molded by my thoughts.

Word can be tweaked so it does not do all those little annoying things you guys are describing. I am happy to help out, PM me if you please. Also: http://www.editorium.com/ http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/pdf/author/Resources_File_cleaner.pdf and for my friend LindaZ who says typesetting went the way of the dodo bird. source: http://www.garlandscience.com/pdf/authorinstructions.pdf LindaZ - I appreciate your insight and it goes to show that what has become the defacto standard in the publishing industry does not necessarily mean that everyone uses those methods. Most of the work my company handles are larger books, although we do work through some journals from time to time. The traditional publishing houses we contract from seem to have the same methods. Again, back to the way international, my disagreement with their methodology derives not from it being the wrong way to do it but the claim that their method is the best in the world when in fact they are very inefficient at what they do. It's the big fat claim they make and then the justification that comes into play because they are working off of other's donations. Plus, the sneering at technology is really unprofessional. With the proper training and process implementation software applications can be very beneficial and produce the same level of detail as a colored pencil system.

My money is on John Rupp and Rosie retaining the chairman of the board title so she can keep a hand on things.

It's typical for books to be edited using tracked changes in MS Word - this covers substantive editing (a.k.a developmental editing /comprehensive editing) and copy editing. Then, after the book has gone to the type setter there is a proof copy made that a proof reader looks over and marks corrections by hand. The proof read is a pretty fast process. The process utilized by the way international is simply not industry standard anymore. I work in the publishing industry. To have departments doing an edit by colored pencil method is simply backwards and inefficient. Not to mention they take all the time they need to make everything "perfect." Meaning there is extensive fact checking, not with the bible as the revealed word of God, but with what is considered proven ministry research. The bible is used to proof scriptural quotes and that's about it. Otherwise, it all goes back to what's already been published by Victor Paul Wierwille and the way international. Correct! They pat themselves on the backs as being the best in the world. I kid you not.

I agree that pen and paper can be a valid preference to a writer in the creative process. But we are talking about copy editors and proof readers here. What value does it serve a copy editor to touch paper with colored pencils?

But it all sounds so nostalgic.. :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

That just goes to show how ignorant the computer hating Rozilla really is when it comes to efficiency. It's the de facto practice to use computers and a word processing program (like M$ Word) that has tracked changes features. I cannot believe they use pencils to handle their publications. Doesn't Rosalie use some logic about some special process happening when the hand touches the pencil to the paper?
-
I'd say ego is part of it. Considering the emphasis vision and direction puts on money I would surmise it's also about financial projections. They run their operations on a shoestring even though they have millions horded away in assets.

I understand the publications departments (way publications and presidents publications) don't use computers? They still edit with pencil and paper? Say it ain't so!

Oh, it's quite original. Sharon Crowther and Janet Myracle. Source: http://www.greasespotcafe.com/main2/component/option,com_zoom/Itemid,52/page,view/catid,1/PageNo,2/key,17/hit,1/ :knuddel: :knuddel: :knuddel: :knuddel: Oh, in this pic they are at Rosalie's house in the garden in her back yard.

This sounds very plausible. I would bet my bottom dollar that it's something along these lines. Here is a modern day example of this sort of spin. Staff pay and housing. Several years ago the way international had to have the housing reappraised to determine "fair market value" for their area of the country. At the 2006/2007 staff and way corps meeting the staff were told the board of dummies were giving them a raise and of course did a dramatic pause so the staff could applaud their generosity. Then RosaLIE, literally in the next breath, announced rent was increasing. Kind of stupid of her because a lot of the staff were extremely p1$$ed! Here's the intriguing part: source: http://www.aflcio.org/issues/jobseconomy/livingwages/americaneedsaraise_ohio.cfm This was the same time frame the raise was announced. See how they make themselves sound generous when they were simply giving a raise to stay up with minimum wage and inflation adjustments for those few above minimum wage? Oh, but the spin was - "the board of dummies have decided to give the staff a a raise." and they waited for applause... <_<

Probably had more to do with Ed H0bbs being a way international supporter than anything else. Who know what type of price breaks VeePee got from him.

Why do people in the Way lie so easily to people outside the Way?
OldSkool replied to citygirl99's topic in About The Way
Really, I think there are people who fit on all of the above listed categories and probably a few that aren't listed. But having been at HQ during all the "changes" rosie instituted at the way international's lawyers behest, I would say they are desperately trying to legitimize themselves with a thin veneer of corporate America's 501c3 non-profit style. So from my perspective, a lot of folks are embarrassed about all the crazy practices. Many, many things are kept very hush-hush by the staff. For example, the mandatory check in on Monday mornings by the staff to prove their attendance at the STS. I have never heard one word of that type of bull$h1t uttered at one of the community based events that happen every so often. Usually each year there is a concert where vendors, and other community folks are invited in for. During these events they put on the best smiley faces and really go out of their way to give off an air of legitimacy. If the community only knew what really goes on around there. -
This explains where all the Buck Stoves at camp gunnison came from.

Well, that all depends...were his lips moving?

Well, the annex is used exclusively for director group meetings. That would = Howard + Donna + the board of dummies, pffft they call themselves the director group, anyways. The corps-tel is guest housing and/or possibly used for housing? I know it sat mostly vacant when I was there. The chalet itself housed a charming female couple, M3l1ss@ Ge0rge and M@rc1@ L0mb@rd1. Respectively, M3l is Rozilla's secretary and Donna's nanny / laundry doer and who knows what else. M@rc1@ is on the presidents cabinet and is Donna's sister. By the way Donna doles out all the housing assignments, which the directors approve. Looks like she takes good care of her nanny and sister, eh? These two have all the appearances of a lesbian couple. They live together, shop together, eat together, do laundry together, take vacations together, etc. A good friend of mine walked in on them in the ermal owens building where they were snuggling on the couch. When he walked in they scurried away from each other, like two teenagers making out in the parlor. When I was there there was another family of three living in the chalet with these two lovely ladies. I do not know who was in what bedroom or on what floor. Only that they were all there. Annex = director group meetings Corps Tel = probably still guest housing Chalet = staff housing

Rosalie's home is just off grounds, less than a mile away. Donna was living in the founders hall apartment when I left HQ. Rosie is very paranoid that the devil will have someone kill her. Same as VP and same as Craig. And her yes men are very protective of her.
