Considering VPW's history of women, brandy, and abuses I guess he did have "the best time."
-
As boring as the training was we could call it "Mission Sleep."
-
Just goes to show you what being in TWI can do to a person's future.
-
Good for you, fight the power!
-
Guess that ties to the supposition held by VPW that the word fir with mathematical precision? That and he read Number in Scripture by Bullinger.
-
That is the very thing that started the alarm bells some years ago before I left. How can it be a true commitment where only one party is holding the commitment? TWI is not committed to people in the way corps. They do not take care of the way corps. They use the way corps as long as they can and discard them when the corps person/couple no longer wants to do their bidding. Or in the case of many other folks, they just drop them for little to nothing.
-
There is no room for these in TWI.

Great post. It's sad really - what TWI does to it's followers.
-
A lot of people I knew would hang on to the saying "If there was anywhere else that had the truth I would be there." Which I think could be interpreted as "I really am aware at the sad state of affairs that this way ministry thing has become but am hoodwinked by all the negative comparisons." I dare any still in TWI to venture out a little. Get a taste of freedom. See how quickly you run for the exits.

Oh ya, you were likely spiritually immature... I have heard time and again that the money for the classes is indicative of the students commitment to attend the class. You shell out some money then you are gonna be there....or so they say. Sounds like B.S. to me. In other news during one of my way disciple tenures I saw a student dropped for knocking on the door around 10 seconds after the opening lines of the class were given. I mean the fellow was out of breath and busted his behind to make the class only to be dropped for being a few seconds late. Of course he lost his $100. So where's the advanced spiritual principle in that? I guess I am like you waysider, just not spiritual enough to get it.

When I was around most departments that actually had a computer used still used WordPerfect.

Nope. Not in my book. I place the blame on the wolf. Not the one placing trust in a supposed holy man.
-
Yep! And that's the point Jesus was making about the chief priests and elders desiring the uppermost seats in the room, making broad their phylacteries, and enlarging the borders of their garments. They wrap themselves in pretense to cover their sin.
-
Which points the finger at someone with ability who is dedicated to his own evil purposes. Greater sin in my book.

Ha, Shrulliky! (<---spelling?) The old guy across the street from the Allen home who never would sell his farm to Vic. There are stories still circulating around from the old timers on staff about VPW and his neighbor's feud. Shrulliky died not too long ago and his relatives live there now, daughter I believe. Prueter is still in the house on the eastern border of the property. And they still hate TWI from what I know.

He's got some balls using this salt covenant thing in the first place. I remember being taught how serious it was. Give me a BREAK! Rosalie talked casually one morning before our weekly cabinet meeting about how much more the consequences are for people who break the salt covenant versus not being corps and leaving the ministry. I dunno, the hardest consequence for me is decompressing from years of being salted to an abusive cult.

It's hard to draw any other conclusion when you step back and look at what he did and his legacy.

Same here. My first fellowship coordinator used to go on about "can you imagine all the spiritual responsibility of being the man of God!?!?!?" BARF! And this was in reference to Martindale.

No worries, you guys can debate away. I don't want to come off too grumpy. Just a wee bit shorter on a forum board improves readability. Of course I have been accused of having a short attention span......lol....think that was James Trimm who used to post chapter length banter. To quit crying and get back on topic, it really is a good question. Scripture is specific that the world was delivered to the devil in the temptations of Jesus, by the devil's own words. Who is to say he didn't steal his spot from Adam's disobedience. It even says Jesus did not think equality with God a thing to be grasped, or taken. The devil and eventually Adam thought it could be taken. Who's to say that the devil didn't set himself in charge and no one was around to stop him since Adam was fallen. I am not sure that this is the case, but it makes more sense than something being legally legal. To me any way.

Was in-rez early millennium. There were classes scattered throughout the year. Most of them were video classes, such as A New Life from Dr. Rawlins. English for the Greek Student, and Greek were sort of the highlight of the year. We actually had classes where we "learned" how to use lexicons and concordances. My point is there are very few classes compared to the amount of time spent in study hall. When classes are held it's during study time. The work program remains intact no matter what..lol. I attribute the lack of substance to Martindale gutting the staff/corps ranks and then Rosalie coming along with poor leadership skills and not having the resources to run a proper curriculum.

I love your guys posts, but the really long, doctrinal debates are killing me. As if I haven't had enough from JohnIam. I guess I don't have to read any of it.

When he was king there was no disputing him. He would not have it. He perfected VPW's my way or the hi-way leadership style and trained his minions to be twice the child of hell that he was. Rosalie is the same. There is no disputing her. The difference in Rosalie and Craig is she feigns being nice and pretends to be available to handle people's concerns. I have known several people to take their case to her and the only one's that ended well (where the person stayed with TWI if you call that well) were the ones who nodded their heads in agreement with her. Those who did not quickly found themselves relocated far away from HQ in the near future. I even know of one family where she managed to subtly villify them to the majority of the staff. This poor family was treated horribly by people as they prepared to move away from the New Knoxville area. IMO she made an example of them Fox style.

In the old way of abundance and power class coordinators guide there was a section that said (not verbatum but you will get the gist) "Reverend Martindale has proven that he has unsurpassed discipline and spiritual ability..." I $h!t u not.
-
I was EXTREMELY disappointed when I arrived in-residence to find there was no real curriculum. I mean shocked. I expected all along real classes and instead found my self in study hall 4 hours working the way magazine and way of abundance and power classes and the rest of the day scrubbing toilets. What a joke.

I should clarify this a little. TWI quit teaching Romans, except a few select verses and various other contexts to suit their legalistic purposes. Romans breaks down into a salutation that leads to what is know as the outer section that deals with sins people commit. In this section it deals with jews and gentiles alike declaring all fallen short and under sin. Then it segues into an inner section that deals with the sin nature, it's origins, mankinds utter subservience to it, and again concludes that there is none that are not guilty. Christ is given as the answer with salvation as the only out for unsaved man. In this inner section there is detailed two natures in the child of God. The old man and the new man. It's up to a person to walk in the new nature and bring forth good works vs walking in the old nature and being a slave to sin. Romans then goes back to an outer section around Romans 12 dealing with walking in newness of life. It delves briefly into an inner section again towards the end of the book. That is the essence of Welch's breakdown of Romans. VPW's university of life tapes are a direct ripoff of the Just and the Justifier. I followed the tapes and studied the book during the same period of time while in-residence. What this has to do with death beds is beyond me...I will switch back on topic now.
