  1. Yep. STFI / JAL taught that he had it wrong because it was as you said. According to them, the same person speaking gives the interpretation that was spoken in the tongue to God and it will be words of thanksgiving, etc. to God. The way wierwille taught it, he just had people SIT / and having words of prophecy instead of actually giving the translation.
  2. Last I knew, in the apartment in founders hall that used to be occupied by the corps coordinators when the corps were housed in fh.
  3. How do ya like that!; Bible fans.
  4. I don't know the Bader's, but her house is just off grounds on New Bremen-New Knoxville Road. It was built by Way Builders and she footed the bill. I understand she has family money from the Foxes that is from allowing companies to harvest lumber off of their rather sizable land.
  5. W/O delving into a doctrinal discussion, I believe what the Bible says regarding SIT. I do not believe that it is some form of self directed power used for all circumstances, though one could SIT in all circumstances just as one could pray in all circumstances. Even Biblically, 1 Corinthians 12 teaches that each manifestation has it's own purposes. That's all I will say and will not go further off topic.
  6. Ya, and the teacher of the corps meeting was a Reverend and on the president's cabinet.
  7. Yes, Elisha and the Shunamite woman versus the Shumate women. Sorry, couldn't resist.
  8. She is not the only one I know who had serious problems and was told to look elsewhere, just the only one in this context.
  9. SIT became the swiss army knife. Let's face it, Wierwille's formula for all 9 manifestations did not work the way the big fat claims said they did. Oh, I heard about all the miracles that happened in the old days, as if the blame was to be placed on the newer generation for not being able to replicate the "old timer's" results. I have no doubt some did get healed or were involved in miraculous happenings but I would have to say those happened in spite of TWI's formulaic teachings. Before I left TWI, SIT was the wonder manifestation. It could be directed as perfect prayer at specific causes, anytime you just didn't know you would SIT, you could lay hands on the sick and SIT. Of course results were negligible. Heck, during a corps meeting one teacher gave a half baked example where a staffer came to him and his wife early in the morning at their dorm room in Founders Hall because the staffer's wife was sick. So what did the teacher do? Did he lay hands on her and heal the sick? NOPE! He lay hands and spoke in tongues for her. The irony though is he even said he went with them to the hospital a few hours later where she went into emergency surgery. She did well with the surgery and it was alluded that the perfect prayer gave exemplary results. HOWEVER, what he did not say was she had a lingering illness and many other issues that no one on staff could help her with. Over the next few months she was quietly sent packing from staff. Of course this came with the accompanying whispers about how she needed to "work on things." <_< My man who did the teaching and gave this illustration for SIT did so AFTER all of this had happened, except he conveniently ignored the fact she was not helped and eventually left staff in search of someone to help her. I don't think she was fired outright, but received counseling that she should go where she needed to get help. Nothing wrong with that in and of itself. Almost seems honest on the way international's part. EXCEPT, her case was used to give a false illustration of God's power and Rosalie allowed it. False teachers and prophets, false ministry, and the fruit of their teachings bears witness against them.
  10. Not to swerve off topic too far, but this sort of thing must have been encouraged early on in TWI. I was at a singles advance (way back when I was single) and my region coordinator's wife went on about spiritual goals and meeting people with similar goals. She and her hubby had met in-residence and never really got along but they found common ground because they both wanted to run a limb someday. That was the launching point of their marriage.
  11. Ya, those few die hards who still follow the party line. Anything said against their dear leaders is accounted as an attack of the adversary.
  12. Like so many others in positions of authority in TWI, they have no qualifications. I met and worked with so many inept leaders in da ministry. Scared to death to get in trouble, led by putting out the nearest fire identified as an irritant by Rosalie. I could go on, but to answer the question, she is not qualified. Except, she is a really good liar.
  13. Sly, but not as smart as she thinks, and so out of touch she probably prefers candle light to light bulbs.
  14. That was the name of Wierwille's game. Negative comparisons all the way, us vs. them.
  15. Lately, I have been around friends and the topic shifted Biblical. My old way self used to bristle up and would be ready to pounce so I could "witness" how much "bible" I thought I knew and turn it towards "taking the class." But after being gone for five years I am now able to let the topic turn, listen to other's views, state mine if I actually have a view on the subject, and move on. It feels good. No need to get excited, condemn myself for not saying what I didn't, etc. Freeedom!
  16. It never occurred to me, but now that you mention it. We were told at times that we were disciples of The Lord Jesus Christ! But....he was absent, the word took his place, you can't separate the word from the ministry, ministry leadership has the spoken word / present truth....disciples of The Way....YEP! Strange to catch them in the truth.
  17. Same here. They were most likely in the projects and p!$$ng people off. I remember during Way Disciple the similar accounts from another group of us that had meandered into a working poor neighborhood. One of the fellowship coordinators was so obtuse in his manners that he nearly got his @$$ whopped by a local he had ticked off by arguing biblical matter with his wife on their front porch. After dude gathered his composure it soon morphed into some great spiritual victory for the team because he had stood and backed down some sprrrruts. Too bad the husband didn't teach him some manners.
  18. ^^ Your experience reminds me of when I was on the field in the late 90s. My branch/limb guy was obviously under pressure to get more people. Our area was stagnant - surprise? Anywho, he came up with (or was told to that) if there were no new faces at fellowship then the fellowship coordinators were to have prayer, manifestations, and then take the fellowship out witnessing. I always felt like a creep hawking people at Super Wal-Mart and at shopping malls. And of course we NEVER got anyone to come to our dumb little fellowships. Just blank stares, surprised faces, and lots of "no" answers.
  19. WHEW! I always thought George Lutz was a great man of God.
  20. You mean The Amityville Horror was fake?
