All fine reply's, I like the skirt chaser ministry, that is funny !!

I agree. It was like I remember Vic saying, that a prophet was a difficult man to be around. And everything I remember about LCM was difficult and the other choices did not feel like they fit. And last, my memory is blank on anything he propheted about about. Anyway, I will be able to sleep tonight without really knowing.

I am a bit confused as to what LCM was ordained as, was he like supposed to have the gift ministry of a prophet? I know he has been stripped of all that, some form of ex-communication. But, if he was a prophet, wouldn't stripping him of his ministry be a watered down version? Wouldn't, if he were a prophet, wouldn't it be more correctly false prophet? Inquirying minds want to know, cause I got no clue and was wondering....michael

I am laughing...ha, ha. LCM, home depot, uniform, little note book, ha

It's really a question of what you want to spend. And by spending, that combination of time or money. There are plenty of places to put data nowdays, up on the internet. And lots of ways to put data on a disc or a stick. There are USB hard drives that are going down in price, an alternative to a USB stick. If you have a DVD player on your PC and it is Double Layer, you can get around 8 gigs per disc on that (DL discs are what a buck or a buck and a half a disc). If you are going to blu-ray on your computer, you can put a lot of data on a blu-ray disc, you would need a blu-ray burner, I don't know the exact capacity of Blu-ray discs, but am thinking like 25gig. If you have really critical stuff, then you go to a Raid array. Like cman, I believe has mentioned, an extra drive is always a good idea, I bought a 1T drive (1,000gig) for like 129 or so a few weeks ago. What I would also look into is imaging software, it does a bit by bit copy of a drive, sort of the same idea as those discs you get when you buy a pc, "recovery discs"...here you are taking a snapshot of the whole drive with all your stuff, plenty of this type of software out there...many drives, like in buying a new backup drive have the software included with a new drive...regrds..michael

Pretty slick waysider, that was really, really good. Obviously written by a man(or plural), otherwise the shaver attachment would have probably been another common device found in the boudoir. I sent this to my ex-wife, she just got an I-phone, ha, ha !!

Thanks CMAN, thanks a lot. Yes I installed smplayer and the additional codecs, it comes right up with no problems: .x264.mkv files. I still have to replace my audio card, from a pci to a pci-express...it looks like on that I need to spend 149.00, that gets me up to 92khz, maybe I will go up to 169.00 or 179.00 and pop it up to 192khz (the native bluray sampling rate), I got to look at my budget....but hey, thanks for the advice, looks great, feels like it is running smoother than on vista 32 bit. I may pass this on to the forum on microsoft....kmplayer just didn't do it...regards, michael

Well, its installed. The journey began with buying a 1T hard drive. I used ImgBurn to basically just burn the .ISO from Microsoft. Install was flawless, maybe taking, 15 minutes. I have like a duo core 2.66gigahertz...whatever. So, I got back a bit of memory, instead of the limitations of 32bit Vista, not being able to use all 4gig of memory, the 64 bit version can use it, but it sort of reserves around 800meg of memory, for its own use, basically it looks like the idea of rather than paging code not needed, on disc, Windows 7, kinda of borrows and reserves some physical memory. I may find out how to adjust that memory reserve. But things work pretty fast. And the interface, what I see feels solid, substantial. The downside, so far, is another upgrade on my sound card, I have a PCI card. So, its back to Computer Depot or somewhere for a PCI express card. The 64 bit driver for Vista works fine on the video side, I have a cheap ATI, no problems. So, for high end graphics, it looks like I need to wait a bit, microsofts media player doesn't do .mkv files and there isn't a player out there like kmplayer or vlc player that is ready...but I will be looking.

Michael Chudzinski here. Basically a list and possibly a discussion, if need be about "things about computers you may have thought about, or wondered about". Some tips from my years of experience in personal computing, the PC world (not the mac world). General things, with specifics elaborated, that come into my mind, and additions, if I can continue to edit the post, when I realize "oh, I should add that, too". The information posted here, does overlap, so in reading the post, a concept or idea may apply in more than one item, but be discussed in only one item. 1) When you buy a graphics card, what you are paying for, is a combination of speed, amount of memory on the card, and the manufacturer. The most important thing of the three, is speed, secondly the amount of memory. And third, what "upward compatibility" the manufacturer is committed to. Explained: You look at a graphics card from the standpoint of how much work the card is going to do for you, that is, what do I need this card to do, is it play video games, do High Definition movies, and so on. Once you have determined speed, then you think about how many more dollars you are willing to spend on having a card with a higher memory density, that is more memory on the card. Third, you think about the manufacturer. In other words, you think, ok, Microsoft is in the business of selling upgrades, does the manufacturer have a real commitment to keeping the software that runs the card up to date with what Microsoft brings to the market. 2) A computer is a vast array of integrated and discrete devices. What you pay for is the technology and secondly "the extras". A price of a computer is more of less determined by how close to the "state of the art the computer" is. Secondly, the stuff that come with it, for instance a 500 gig drive, compared to a 750 gig drive. Explained: Computers are a compromise. Computers, in a way, are no different than cars in a way. When you look at a car in the show room, what is just about the first thing you see? Its a sticker that says "25mph da, da" "32mph highway". With a computer, you do not see this sticker, if you are following me. The concept (i.e. the analog of car MPG to computers) is called "throughput". This concept, is the idea that a computer, having all these tiny, tiny devices on it, is a machine, a machine that has a weakest link. A computer is a chain of devices, with a weakest link. Trust me when I say, I would have to spend an inordinate amount of time in my own purchases to find the weakest link of a PC, but it is there. But I regress...anyway, throughput is the objective measure of how fast things get done on the computer with all things considered, the strongest link down to the weakest link of this chain of devices we call a computer. Computers are priced at a premium for state of the art and the price goes down from there. The sweet spot, so to speak of computers for price, is, in my opinion, a bit above the middle, above older technology, below the state of the art technology. Secondly, price is determined by the extras, more memory, a larger hard drive, and I am referring to these extras in the general sense, not the sense that you can pay more money for an upgrade on a particular model, I am saying in comparing one pc to another pc, even if the pc you are comparing is one of a line of pc's any given manufacturer offers. You weigh the value of the extras in comparing one pc to another pc, second to how close a pc is to the state of the art from the choices available. 3) Upgrades are nice, but every computer is manufactured with limited upgradability. Explained: Obviously a computer that comes onto the market is only upgrade-able for a limited amount of time. New technologies come out, new standards are developed. I am merely saying that part of the price of the computer is based on how upgrade-able a PC is. A lower priced PC, for the most part, has more limitations on its ability to be upgraded, than a higher priced PC is. Its that idea that we live in a "disposable world", the world in which we live is oriented more to the short term, than the long term. Enough for now..regards..michael

I did notice that when they are both enlarged and position myself in different places on the couch that the eyes of both the Creature and JQ seem to still be looking right at me. Kinda spooky..

Skyrider, some of my best friends are hillbillys. Although in many situations, they are culturally challenged, no one, but no one, can take possum road kill, harvested with a shovel, and create stew like a hillbilly...are we sympatico on this?

When I was around 20, a shock hit me, bigger than the death of JFK, I think you know what I am talking about, thats right, professional wrestling was fake, entertainment, the guy who wins is the one most popular...and now this.. Sumo wrestlers smoking pot. Where will it end? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090205/ap_on_...mo_drug_scandal

Yes, thanks Mstar, for the work involved. Some great finds, the one that surprised me most was the one with Pres. Kennedy. regards, michael

Now we are talking...chipotles, yummy, and roasted tomatillos, I am there... I may in turn in the future put up a real Jamaican "jerk" recipe, for pork, chicken...an oh so, taste o the islands.... If I am hearing you right, this would be a death and crash and burn set...

Great tune...but the guy/dude with the moo stash is not taking my daughter to the prom, if I had a daughter..

I will say this, the color coordination hits the mark. I think "Waynes World" would say the look is: holy, but I know how to party.
-
Ya, I think I know which one you are talking about. And the Blue Moon, too. Have you been to the one I mentioned earlier at Pike Street market...I am thinking that brew was Alaska Amber..maybe not..but maybe..

I probably will do that, Waterloo has a borders. But I am buying at least 8 copies to go along with my 8 copies of "The Death of Superman", I am thinking that in another decade or two they might be worth double what I paid for them.

Sounds like the "a cube has six sides" argument has gone on, Mister P-Mosh, I concur with you. Someone please troll me. I promise to encourage you and if you don't mind, please encourage my ramblings in return. Thats the American Way. Marvel Comics does print quality reading material and this recent publication with our new president, Barak Obama, is proof of that.

Great post. The comic sounds way out of my price range, maybe on the second, third, or fourth reprint, I can get one. I read the onion article, Obama sounds like my kind of communicator. Anyone who realizes that the battle of good verses evil is an ongoing struggle for balance, is my kind of people. We geeks, are truly the salt of the earth, a lifestyle choice. Embrace our geek-ness, for time stands still for no man, join us, or face us in mortal combat ripe with obscure terminology and references to sub-cultural media events based in print and syndicated television programs. You have been warned.
