I hate to admit where I got this little ditty but gawd if it isn't interesting! I ripped the part from the beginning concerning Rhoda and VPW, I've posted and converted it for your listening pleasure. If anyone's really interested, I can post Rhoda singing. Man.. they used a Hammond organ. Sounds like a TV soap opera from the time period. Anyone remember when Rhoda married Harry?? Then you might know the answer to the question... What year was this thing made?? Click HERE! sudo P.S. I know what year this was made and will award prizes to the winner but does anyone know who the announcer was??

Dearly Beloved.. I canst forgive many sins.. The sin of not flossing. The sin of not brushing. Even the more serious sins like not making dental appointments or truely serious sins like not showing UP for an appointment. But I canst NOT forgive the unforgivable sin, oh my children.. the sin of failing to pay thine dental bill!!! sudo

Geo, I know nothing about this movie but Leonardo made his reputation early as a consumate actor. I direct you to his early What's Eating Gilbert Grape. His performance was remarkable, IMO. sudo

David, Welcome back!! Don't let the naysayers get you down, bud. I enjoy reading the fringe elements' expositors. It keeps me focused on realizing that you can get otherwise intelligent individuals to believe any dang thing in the world! You're probably a decent human being of at least normal intelligence so stick around, I say! Honest different perspectives are usually educational and good for diversity. sudo

Zix, Well, yeah, it was pretty good. But best ever? AAA+++?? I think I may be a bit jaded, though, as movies don't do that much for me anymore. sudo

Reikilady, I have no problem with your beliefs. People derive comfort from believing that gods and angels are protecting them. Some even get comfort believing their gods are bringing misery upon their enemies and/or infidels. Why would I have a problem with your believing you can channel healing as long as you aren't depriving them of medical care? I choose to take a rational approach and don't accept things that can't be proven empirically. That means I don't get the comforts of religion. :(-->. It may also mean I don't get suckered into believing something that just ain't true. :)--> sudo

Hey 2fer! I opened Dmiller's link in his post up top here and saw this about the guy who started it up in the 1800's: "Reiki is believed to have begun in Tibet several thousand years ago. Seers in the Orient studied energies and developed a system of sounds and symbols for universal healing energies. Various healing systems, which crossed many different cultures, emerged from this single root system. Unfortunately, the original source itself was forgotten!!! Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Christian educator in Kyoto, Japan, rediscovered the root system in the mid- to late 1800s. He began an extensive twenty-one-year study of the healing phenomena of history's greatest spiritual leaders. He also studied ancient sutras (Buddhist teachings written in Sanskrit). He discovered ancient sounds and symbols that are linked directly to the human body and nervous system which activate the universal life energy for healing. Usui then underwent a metaphysical experience and became empowered to use these sounds and symbols to heal. He called this form of healing Reiki and taught it throughout Japan until his death around 1893. Is it me?? Or does that sound a lot like VPW who had special knowledge of truths forgotten since the 1st century?? Who had a metaphysical experience (read snow on gas pumps out of a clear sky) and now teaches it to others??? I wonder how much Doctor Usui charged for "the class"??? :D--> sudo

Knuckles, That's not the way it is here in Memphis, Tennessee, either. All the white churches seem to be doing their best to get black folks in the doors. That goes for the conservative Baptists to the liberal Main Line denominations like Disciples Of Christ where I am a member. We get ourselves a token black and WHAM! in a year he's made a deacon and a year later he's made an elder. All so that everybody can point their fingers at their own "diversity". The sticking point seems to be the black churches which appear to be guarding their turf. Their participation in the inter-denominational groups have noticably dropped off in the last 10 years. Heck, 30 years ago all you mainly had in those groups were the black churches, a few liberal white churches and a liberal Jewish shul or two. My how things change when things change. --> sudo

Zix, I don't know about Driftwood but how about Johnny Horton?? Here's his version that I had to degrade from the good MP3 to post here for folks with just dial up. Click HERE!. And BTW.. how come a moderately intelligent guy like yourself has never played in the Nostalgia forum?? I would have thought you'd be good at it. sudo

Geeze Paw.. Makes me want to tear up and bawl like a baby. So sorry for your loss. Words fail at a time like this. sudo

Bob, ReL"Back to Harvey, he said he doesn't believe in gods or goddesses or the afterlife. Yet he prays, because of the known scientific "laws" and humanistic principals....In my book, if you're praying, your believing in something, no matter how convoluted you reason it out." I have to agree with you! That didn't make any sense to me either. But still.. if that's what HE feels comfortable with, that's OK with me. I bow my head for instance while people are praying. It's showing respect. sudo

Cowgirl, I hear you! I love this time of year, too. Actually, it all starts with school starting back in the Fall and football games. Then as the chill enters the air we have the three best holidays.. Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Best food, TV specials, weather (I HATE hot muggy days!) and of course... friends and family. My wife's family will be arriving starting Monday and continue on until Thanksgiving day. Needless to say, I'll be taking a hiatus from my Atkins diet as the food and drink will be plentiful. Did I mention how I love holiday food? Why I do declare.. just talking about it makes me hungry and I believe there's some eggnog and brandy downstairs! :D--> sudo

Sister Mary Katherine entered the Convent of Silence. The abbess said, "Sister, this is a silent monastery. You are welcome here as long as you like, but you may not speak until I direct you to do so". Sister Mary Katherine lived in the monastery for 5 years before the abbess said to her, "Sister Mary Katherine, you have been here for 5 years. You can speak two words." Sister Mary Katherine said, "Hard bed." "I'm sorry to hear that," the abbess said, "We will get you a better bed." After another 5 years, Sister Mary Katherine was called by the abbess. "You may say another two words, Sister Mary Katherine." "Cold food," said Sister Mary Katherine, and the abbess assured her that the food would be better in the future. On her 15th anniversary at the monastery, the abbess again called Sister Mary Katherine into his office. "You may say two words today." "I quit," said Sister Mary Katherine. "It's probably best", said the abbess, "You've done nothing but complain since you got here." sudo

Oen, Re:"It is reported that even though the bread is ten years old there is no sign of mold." Yeah, and there are those who'll believe that Mohammed rode to Heaven on a white horse, that Noah lived for 40 days and nights on a big boat with every species of animal on it and that God almighty spoke to Moses from a burning bush. Best leave people to believe what they will because, Oen, they will believe any and every ludicrous thing you can imagine. And we're talking about otherwise normal folks here. Good moral people for the most part. But when it comes to religion... all critical thought processes go out the window. sudo

Valerie, I'll tell you how to do it but it may seem overwhelming but just keep reading because I have a solution at the end... You upload the pics to an http server like what your internet service provider Cox. net gives you just for using their services. Yep.. but first you have to know the address where to upload them (like http://members.cox.net/valerie52 or however they have it setup) then you use Internet Explorer and in the address line you type in: ftp://members.cox.net/valerie52 and you will be taken to your own private area. Oh, you'll have to enter the password but after you are there, you can copy and drag to your space. Then, say, you've uploaded the pic redsea.jpg to that area, you post a note here and in the note you make it display the pic by including somewhere in the note.. {img src=http://members.cox.net/valerie52/redsea.jpg} only use the ""signs instead of the "{" and "}" signs I used in the example. Now.. if that's as clear as mud.. just e-mail me the pics (sudo2u@gmail.com) and I'll post 'em fer 'ya, doll! sudo

Abigail and Radar, Re:"Recently, a young man walked into a daycare center in the Detroit area and murdered his three year old daughter so he wouldn't be forced to pay child support." THAT'S the reason I think Scott did it. I'm hoping these kinds of psychopaths are rare but they do occur. Of course, its not PC to call them psychopaths today but one thing the men have in common is that women tend to fall all over them. And the only ones these men love are themselves. I'm also wondering if its more than coincidence that they tend to be very good looking. Were they born this way or made by always getting their way even when very young? sudo
