    Oak Family Reunion

Oak, Good going. Now that all of you are out and can rightly blame TWI for much of it.. yous can all take a roadtrip to New Knoxville together... and water the graves of the founders. sudo
  2. My3cents, Here's another one that might ought to be renamed How To Speak In Tongues In 12 Easy Sessions. Click HERE! sudo
  3. Chaz, Here are a few of my thoughts. First off.. EASY is the name of the game and with that in mind, Linda's Mini cheese cakes sound like the perfect dessert. Cindy's recipe is one I have also used and it IS delicious. I've also used smoked oysters but then you run into the problem of folks who don't like oysters. A Honey Baked (or any other spiral cut) Ham is always a big hit. You can put out little breads, cheeses, pickles, mustards and garnishes so folks can make up sandwiches. We have one several times a year. Easter, Thanksgiving and of course, Christmas. Problem is.. a big ham is $60!! Want to do cheap?? Do a heaping helping of Rotel dip and plenty of chips. It's very filling. 1 can of Rotel to 1lb of velveeta cheese melted together. That's it. Best if you melt it in a double boiler but the microwave works good too. Also, if you want more heat, you can buy (at least in the grocery stores around here) hotter Rotel's and mild or hot Mexican Velveeta. Also around here, you can get a shrimp platter fairly reasonably but make your own cocktail sauce for Heaven's sakes!~ I don't know WHY these stores have such awful tasting sauces. I can tell you simply how to make your own if you don't have a recipe. If you're wanting to feed a lot of folks with not a lot of money, go get yourself one of those turkeys the grocery stores are always practically giving away this time of year. You thaw it... wash it in the sink with cold water really well... then oil it down with plain liquid vegetable oil... salt it real good and sprinkle on poultry seasoning (it's mainly just sage if you don't have poultry seasoning)... a little paprika (if you have it) for color and maybe a little ground pepper. That's it. Plop it into a Reynold's Turkey bag and cook for about 3 hours depending on the turkey size. The directions come with the package of Reynold's turkey bags. You can't go wrong. It always comes out tender and juicy... and cheap!!! sudo
  4. Suz, Re:"I am guessing its time for me to come out now and be honest..I have allowed God to make me a Democrat.... It's OK, girl, we understand. You did the right thing in confessing this sin to us. We won't judge you here in our midst, Suz. We ALL have our weaker moments, so let him who is without sin cast the first stone, I say. Of course *I* never had any proclivities towards being a Democrat myself. But then I never had any proclivities for the sin of homosexuality either. Oh, maybe that one time or two in the dorm room back in college but heck.. we were really drunk and all. So let us all lift Sister Suzie and her avowed Democrat ways.. and pray for her deliverance from the debbil spurt known as LIBERALISM... a 5-start debbil spurt if I've ever known one.. and I've known plenty of 'em I tell you. Did I tell you guys about the one I ran into in the women's dorm down at Ole Miss?? Gawd, I never thought she'd let me go but I prayed about it and am c-o-m-p-l-e-t-e-l-y forgiven thankyouverymuch. Anyways... We're all a'prayin' for you Suz! :P--> sudo

    I want more posts!!!!

Cindy, Just so you know... Paw pays his monthly bill based on "views". Each time you make a post... he pays. Of course, I can't speak for Paw but I might would resent someone making frivolous posts just for the heck of it. sudo
  6. Linda, It's a COLD day here in Memphis but the sun's out and shining. It's only 32° but feels much colder. Supposed to go down to 16° tonight and I'll be out jogging in it in the morning before the sun comes up. I keep telling myself jogging is GOOD for my health! There won't be any serious cooking going on in this house until midweek. And then the ovens will probably run 24/7 for a few days. I'm Looking forward to it. sudo
  7. Valerie, Your position is un-American and unfortunately, your views are becoming more widespread. And that's because people are afraid. Afraid of the extremists they see on the news. I can understand that fear but there are greater things to fear. Greater dangers. Greater evils. Intolerance and bigotry has killed more people than greed ever has but has enslaved even more. Once you've made the decision that God's laws allow you to persecute peoples on the basis of their faith, intolerance is now your god. And that god is a vengeful terrible god indeed. His appetite for the destruction of the unworthy is insatiable. He'll demand to be fed daily and when the easy victims are gone, history has shown us he starts on his own. Those who wavered are next. Then, like the final scenarios of the French Revolution where even the 'Jacques' were getting gullitoined right and left, to the final days of the Third Reich where any army officer who said things weren't looking too good were summarily executed as defeatists... the gods of intolerance's demands for human sacrifice know no bounds. Can't happen in America?? Ask the American Indian with ancestors on The Trail Of Tears. Ask the WWll Japanese internees. Ask the civil rights marchers. When people are afraid, they can do despicable things. Call it mob mentality. The first thing to do prevent it is calling it what it is and Valerie.. you are espousing repugnant dangerous and evil views. sudo

    I need a song

Shell, The question is waiting for you over on the Nostalgia thread, my dear.. Answer it (correctly or incorrectly) and let me know how you want the file... posted or sent to your e-mail box. BTW.. I'm feeling sorry for all these poor slobs posting here on a Saturday evening instead of being out having a good time! sudo (sure glad he's not one of them!)

    I need a song

Shell, Re:"Whatcha charge for this type of thing Mr Dental Music Man?...Another funny dental question?" Oh but I have the music file, not just the lyrics. Good MP3. So what do I charge for said file?? Hmmmm.. I'm thinking it may be worth making you play a few rounds with us on the Nostalgia thread. Does that sound like a fair deal?? :D--> sudo (who drives a hard bargain)

    I need a song

Shell, I've got it. It's the one he did with Faith Hill. You want it?? I can post it or send it to you by e-mail but it's going to cost you, you know. sudo

    New job!!!

Oen, So this means you're out of the wine biz?? That's OK.. we can pop a cork anyways. I believe you're still knowlegeable in the field. sudo
  12. I feel embarassed to be a Southener when I read these kinds of things. The rest of the country already thinks we all have Billy-Bob teeth, chew tobacco and marry our first cousins but a judge?? Is it me?? Does this not sound like Minnie Pearl's hat with the price tag dangling?? This is America where judges should realize that many many people are not Jewish or Christian and how are they going to feel about it?? How would we feel if we were put on trial in Iran and the judge comes out wearing a robe with verses from the Koran on it? Would we really feel just hunky dory with it? Would we even be glad because we had ourselves a religious judge?? Naw.. I don't think so folks because we'd be danged afraid that he wasn't so fond of Christians. So put the shoe on the other foot. I think its very poor form for a judge to do this. And I question his judicial temperment when he displays such bad judgement, IMO. sudo
  13. Paw, Re:"You can never go wrong with a gift package containing Imitation Cheese..." WHAT??? Imitation cheese? You've GOT to be kidding!! You're talking some soy product cheese substitute amalgamation?? Pu-leeeze set me straight that I've got it all wrong, Paw. I mean REAL cheese is a bona fide delicacy especially if you can go to a cheese shop and pick out imported cheeses made from pure un-homogenized and/or unpasturized milk. You can't get those here because of U.S. regulations I understand. Maybe even a few good goat cheeses. There's cheeses for all holidays and wines. But imitation cheese??? Gawd, Paw, I'd sooner eat those little mints you find at Baptist wedding receptions. sudo
  14. You can't spank kids in Sweden. That makes this especially funny! sudo
  15. We seem to be slowly moving in the direction to which all ofEurope has moved... No death penalty. And I can understand the arguments. The death penalty is so uncivilized. Possibly unfairly applied to minorities and poor folks. But my personal favorite is that its been used against innocent persons. Until its struck down, though.. I say fry scum like Scott. And yeah.. so it'll take many years of appeals. That's all the better. Let him sweat it out every day in prison knowing the needle in the arm is coming... sudo
  16. Socks, "This is the humor thread...right?" ;)-->. I placed it here because I didn't really want to offend anyone. A guy on the JW board took the pic under my name, made the illustration and posted it over there. I thought it was just great graphics work, though I can see it could be taken to be sacreligious. I pondered whether or not to post it and in the end... well, how could I deprive everyone here and NOT post it?? sudo P.S. It is pretty dang good work don't you think??
  17. Radar, One big factor in those ED cases is guys getting out of shape. Not exercising. Getting pot bellies. Type II diabetes. Elevated cholesterol and triglycerides. Elevated blood pressure. Not only can they not get it up any more.. they can hardly get up amy more. I was one of those guys, Radar. Pretty typical 50 something male. But it snuck up on me so slowly. A few pounds a year. Bad (LDL) cholesterol always up. Good (HDL) cholesterol always on the low side. Blood pressure up just a tad more from year to year. Then.. it really hit home. I couldn't get it up on command any more. That had a solution, though. Viagra. Yeah, I took it and what they say is true. It does work. So was life was good again?? Maybe to some men. But I was a heart attack and/or stroke waiting to happen and I knew it. So now I had to do something. I did a LOT of reading and decided to do the Atkins low carb diet. I say I did the Atkins diet but that is a little misleading, I think. Most people think about going on diets as a temporary thing. You know.. you go on a diet, lose weight, and then go off the diet, right? Even though we all know that going back to doing what we did before will bring the same results. So what I'm doing is what's called Atkins For Life. That is, this low carb eating is my new lifestyle. I ain't ever going off it. Oh, I know its controversial but there are a lot of folks who are going to have to eat a lot of crow, in my opinion, Radar. See, I'm healthier than I have ever been in my life. I eat more vegetables than I ever ate, just not the high carb veggies. No corn, potatoes and beans but all the brussels sprouts, spinach, squash, cabbage, broccoli, stir-fry veggies and salad I want. It's great, really. I'm telling you, this is the diet for me and the pounds fell off almost like magic. I was eating like a pig and losing weight. Go figure. And the best thing is how my cholesterol and blood pressure plummeted. In fact, my doctor took me off the Zocor because in just a few months, my cholesterol went from 250 to 138. And the LDL went from 130 to 72. The HDL (the good kind again) went from 32 to 50 and the triglycerides from 300 to 85! My blood pressure now runs about 118/68 and I FEEL better than I have in years. More energy. And the problems in the bedroom?? Gone with the wind. I'm functioning like I was in my 20's again. Life is good. I no longer have the nagging fear I'm going to start having chest pains any day now. I fully expect to live another 40 or so years. And.... I feel GREAT! .. and a great side benefit?? I look lots better, I think but judge fer yourself.. here I am before... :D--> sudo (who's still wearing some oversized clothing)
  18. JT, Re:"Wow, almost all of the votes are for "After." Interesting. Not what I expected." Consider this. Some estimates have TWI losing 90% of its following between Passing Of The Patriarch (1985?) and the purges of the early '90's. That would mean the vast majority of ex-TWI people left before WayDale or Greasespot ever existed. sudo

    Raf in Munchkinland

Raf, Rick's business is really good and he says THAT'S why his font is so seldom seen in these parts. But we're working as a team on this thread... he got the lyrics. Click HERE! for a short rendition. You just knew you could count on the folks from the Nostalgia thread now didn't you?? sudo
  20. Rascal, Are you really only 5'1"?? You seem taller in person. Must be your exuberant dynamic personality and I'm serious. Congratulations but we weenies knew this was coming soon. Excellent news about the job, too. Just excellent. People SHOULD have a lot of the good times in this life. We all know about having to deal when life's not so good, huh? But to whom much is given.. much is required. I'll be expecting you to have the Black Belt by next weenie roast time! :D--> sudo

    VPW and Rhoda

Pirate, Re:"You should post a warning with something like that, Sudo. I hadn't heard that voice in over 27 years....Gives me cold chills." Yes but some folks still love that voice. Where do you think I got the thing?? Some folks are still passing around his tapes as if they were truth as it has not been known since the 1st century. And think about it.. even TWI doesn't do that anymore. sudo
  22. Socks, Bless you my child. You see, I'm used to the ridicule... the derision of scoffers. The laughter of skeptics. Just remember this.. be true to your teeth... and they'll never be false to you. sudo
  23. Sudo

    VPW and Rhoda

Now wasn't that fun?? Hee-hee! OK, my mistake. Rhoda married Reuben not Harry. And naw.. I don't know who the announcer was but Radar has always been pretty reliable. Dick Kunkle?? Sounds good to me. Whatever happened to the guy anyways? Dmiller was the first with the correct answer.. 1963. So.. good to my word.. Here's your blue ribbon, Dmiller!!

    VPW and Rhoda

That's all well and good folks (interesting, no??).. but.... SOMEONE try and guess the year!!! sudo
