  1. Rick, I know the guy who said the line about staying that color. But man.. the guy was a real ....!!!!! sudo
  2. Paw, So that's what happened. It was too long anyways so this could be a good thing. It's OK.. I'll just start a new thread if that turns out to be the case. Would you e-mail me when you find out? In the meantime, another movie quote... "It ain't fitting.. It just ain't fitting!" sudo
  3. Kathy, Looks like someone's taken our toys and gone home. :(--> sudo
  4. Vickles, Re:" had cable for my internet..went to dial up through the telephone company. Boy was that a mistake...more pop ups and my computer went sssooooo slow." Uh, just so you know.. HOW you connect to the internet has nothing to do with pop-ups. You get pop-ups depending on what sites you go to. Anybody else care to vote??? Not that internet connection data is an interesting topic. This thread lacks pizazzz, I think.. Not as much fun as talking about high school proms. I'm gonna' have to learn how to spice things up. :P--> sudo (always trying to learn)
  5. Lovely news, And I remember when you were a lonely lady Chas. Just a short few years ago when you were posting on Waydale. But look at you and Mathman now!! Man, I'm pleased and feeling the warm fuzzies for ya'll. May the rest of your days be as happy as these! sudo
  6. No prom.. The South was dealing with forced integration in the mid-60's and one of Memphis' responses was to cancel school proms altogether. Might be inter-racial dancing going on. I'm not sure what year they started allowing them again but it was long after I graduated in 1970. My reunions have all been fun, though. Oh, maube except the first one at 10 years. Too many folks were trying to impress on how well they had done in 10 years. But starting at our 20th, everyone started to act like their old selves again. We've had good turn out at all of them but it seems the number one reason people haven't shown up is.... they thought they had gained too much weight. --> Ah, vanity. sudo
  7. I can undertand folks like Krys who need it in an official capacity but I'm more like Mark and Galen.. I don't have to have it but my internet style demands it. It makes me wonder about peoples' internet habits. Do they go just for news and weather?? Maybe visit forums like this one?? I know lots of retired folks just use e-mail for the most part. Here's the results of a speed test I ran today... sudo
  8. I do a lot on the internet that requires a fast broadband (cable modem or DSL) connection. I download and upload large files for the 'Nostalgia' thread for instance. I send and recieve large (usually humorous, at least to me :D-->) video files via e-mail. I also like to go to web sites (MSNBC is my home page) that offer streaming video. ALL of this almost demands I have broadband. I edit files that I upload here to allow for those who use a dial-up internet connection using their telephone lines. I have to make them smaller and I'm wondering if that's really needed. Which do you use AND are you happy with what you're using??? sudo
  9. I'm about to order a DVD burner for my computer to replace my CD burner. I've already got a DVD recorder downstairs hooked to my TV that I've been using to record movies. I need to know where to get software to rip the recorded DVD programs and edit them. Anyone know about such things?? sudo

Paw, How much would slashing the first 150 pages of the Nostalgia thread help?? sudo

    G-mail

Paw, Oh, I could understand why when you had to go their site to get and send your mail but as I was saying... now you don't have to do that! You can get and send mail all day long and never see any of their ads. THAT'S what doesn't make sense to me. Have you configured your mail reader (I use Outlook Express) for Gmail yet? They even have a utility for folks who aren't used to doing it. sudo

Paw, They must be making a real effort to get these things out. This past weekend I had 4 invites left. I just checked and now have 50 to give out!! It really is a great deal. I've never understood what was in it for the internet giants (Yahoo!, Hotmail etc.) for offering these mail accounts. Especially since offering POP3 and SMTP service. sudo

    Josie's dying

Kathy, Re:"I know for myself when my baby sister named "Josie" passed away it brought my family great comfort to think she had gone on to see her Lord." It's at times like these that people are at their most vulnerable. They'll grasp at anything to soothe the truely awful heart crushing pain. Hence.. we have religions. Which at their core addresses the very question Plots asked here more than any other. What happens at death? I guess its comforting to imagine loved ones in paradise. Even better.. they are in paradise awaiting us when WE die. And not only that.. after we all get there.. it lasts for ever and ever. And there's no sorrow there, either. No hunger. No wars. And of course.. no more of what is the biggest heartbreak of all.. death. So is it better to tell people what they want to hear?? Or what is more likely true?? I'd say it depends on the person as people are odd in that respect. Some doctors are loathe to tell their patients they have terminal cancer thinking they will give up their will to fight, for instance. So they sugar coat it. Those same doctors may give it straight to other patients figuring it will make them fight. As far as I'm concerned, I'd always want to know the real score so I could deal with it. But that's me. sudo
  15. Paw, I don't get the joke.. Shell is late 40's. I don't even think it's her birthday coming up. OK.. I'm obviously clueless here. --> sudo (stuff going over his head)

Paw, Did you know that Gmail can now be used as any other e-mail service and can be used with Outlook Express? You don't even have to configure it yourself... they have a Gmail tool that sets it all up on Outlook or Outlook Express. A gig of storage plus, it handles large files. I think they say 10 meg is the limit but I tested it this weekend so I KNOW it supports at least 13 meg. A good deal and the price is right! ;)--> sudo
  17. Raf, The Pope's OK in my book. Don't agree with everything, of course, but I like his heart on most matters. Yeah.. C'mon Karol.. I wish you the best! You've proven yourself a fighter lo these 84 years and I'd LOVE to see you fight for several more years to come! sudo
  18. Suz, Then let me know when you're going to be here.. a little bit of notice.. even a few hours would be helpful when you're dealing with three kids that have to be run hither to and yon. Write down my cell phone number. 901-486-0779. If I'm at the office and have the dnag thing turned off, I'll get my voice mail when I turn it on. Looking forward to it!!! Daniel
  19. Suz, 'Ya gonna' be in Memphis?? sudo

    Countdown to 5,000

Typical American... just can't be satisfied being one of many and blending in like the Borg collective. Nope. Not this one. Wants to be recognized. Wouldn't have done well in the Third Reich or even the First Reich for that matter. sudo (not sure what the Second Reich was exactly)
  21. No Garth.. Cingular CAN reach their home world. Don't you see it, man? THAT'S why there are so fewer encounters today. It's so much easier now for ET to phone home!! sudo

    Are you a Genius?

Cowgirl, These kinds of things are fun but almost always totally wrong. I saw the face almost immediately but I am a very logical, left brained (by the definitions given here) kind of person. sudo
  24. Rottie, The Little Ceasar's here has large pizzas for $5 everyday... all day long. That's cheaper than you can get them frozen at the store. Like you were saying about their quality.. how good can these things be at that price? My nephews love 'em, though. But then, they love canned raviolos and boxed macaroni and cheese --> sudo
  25. Pirate, Skeptic that I am, and not knowing any more than what you posted here, my instincts tell me the customer set the whole thing up. A human tooth baked into a pizza?? THAT would be hard to do accidentally. And if it weren't accidental, then the owner has a good point. He (putting on lawyer's hat) shouldn't be held liable for the malicious deeds of his employees. sudo
